“Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for
interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher
and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or place.”
Hybrid learning has been used interchangeably with blended learning, but
entails more flexibility in terms of scheduling and it often requires more
online time than in-person time and, as in the age of COVID-19, much of
the online time happens in a different physical location.
