~ Misson Update ~
Here is some basic information. Over time there have been seven churches
established in the Cubulco region, one church in Cubulco itself and six in
the outlying Aldeas (although one is no more). Families from seven Aldeas
attend services at these churches. Most of the Aldeas are quite remote with
the closest one being about 1 1/2 hours away from Cubulco. Distance is
measured in time more than in kilometers. The farthest Aldea is about 3 1/2
hours away, and this is after a 45 minute truck ride. Time quoted is for the
hardened hiker, so for the tenderfoot you can double the hiking time. There
are six obreros (workers) who are in charge of the churches and provide a
measure of oversight and direction. It would be nice to say that all the
churches are flourishing but that would not be realistic. While some are
showing signs of growth others are in regress. It is very clear that whenever :
the good seed is sown Satan is right there to sow the tares. How important it
is that we keep our brothers and sisters in Guatemala before God in prayer
