PROJECT FOR

PROF ED 11
How ABS-CBN and GMA foundation assist
schools and school children nationwide.

The ABS-CBN foundation at least a couple of projects to help school children:

1) Bantay Bata has also opened the door for educational opportunities for

kids under its Bantay Edukasyon initiative, which in the past ten years has

provide scholarship for more than 1660 children from elementary to high

school.

2) The Educational- TV (ETV) program provides adopted public elementary

schools with audio visual educational library which help augment the

Philippine department of education’s curriculum. With ETV enhance the

learning experience, the grades of the children have consistently improved.

3) ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation is the non-stock, non-profit

socio-civic organization of ABS-CBN that facilitates social program and

outreach to the public. Initially, the organization primary responsibilities

were to generate welfare funds by broadcasting the plight of those in need

of assistance and ensuring the proper and allocation and utilization of

solicited help. All development programs for the grassroots carry a

significant slant targeted directly benefit by the children nationwide.

GMA Network help children and school children in many different ways. They

gave bags and school supplies to urban poor communities that will help them in

their schooling. They also donate a function classroom to the school in need of

classroom. GMA also offered:

1. Kapuso School Deelopment (KSD) is opened for all the children who

want to study and back to school.

2. Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan (UHSK) in these program they give an

opportunity to study for those children who want to become an

entrepreneur.

How a School Networks With Religious Group

In so many cases, the heart of the issue focuses on evangelical Christian

groups, particularly those groups that utilize the small group context and the

building of one-to-one relationships as their principal method of meeting,

praying, and building up of their common life. School officials wonder if these

groups are busy proselytizing, maintaining exclusivity, or espousing moral

values contrary to the mission of inclusivity and acceptance at the school.

Indeed, the difficult experiences many schools have had with such groups
have led them to ban all religious groups from meeting on school grounds or

in and around the school schedule.

From time to time we get inquiries about the allowance of such groups at

individual schools. An athletic coach wishes to start a Fellowship of Christian

Athletes group, the youth minister at a local evangelical church seeks to be a

presence at the school, or a group of students wish to form a chapter of one

of any number of Christian groups for young people on campus. The school

may feel caught between what it would like to be doing—encouraging a

variety of religious expression at the school, as an outgrowth of its religious

mission and chapel program—and what it feels it must do, namely, limit

activity that it may feel might get out of hand or run contrary to the school’s

mission.

The Agency/ Organization With Which The

School Can Network Regarding Cultural
Affairs

Education and the Cultural Properties Protection Commission. Amongst

others, the Agency for Cultural Affairs furthers international exchange

and cooperation. Based on its present organization the ACA strives

matters concerning religious juridical persons.
