The Technological World

Technology was introduced shortly before I was born and has been around my whole

life. Technology has advanced and given us so much such as social media or the free

reign to call or text someone at any given time. Social media Is a place where people

can express themselves in a positive way, a place where people can bring awareness

to certain social issues, a place where people can express their emotions in such a way

that people don't judge them.

Social media is a common get away place for me. Many times I find myself scrolling

through TikTok or Instagram or calling my friends for literally hours on end. Without

technology none of this would be possible.

One story that I came across on Instagram was about a young woman (@em_carey)

who lived in Australia, Emma had a tragic skydiving accident and was paralyzed from

the waist down. She went through therapy almost constantly, and eventually

miraculously learned how to walk normally and even jog and longboard occasionally. To

this day, her story still encourages me to look at the bright side of everything, and no

matter how difficult things may seem there is always some way to get through it.
I constantly see that on TikTok are people supporting other people. TikTok has a wide

variety of short videos that you can watch, like, and comment on. One thing that I

consistently see is people struggling. Rather than people hating on them for posting it

on social media, I see comments mostly providing each other with positivity and

encouragement through their situation.

Positivity circulating around TikTok provides me with some hope for humanity and that

there are decent people in the world.

Technology has provided me with the ability to call people. This has had a major impact

on me personally. Technology as advanced as it is now has allowed my friends and I to

call and connect on a deeper level rather than just talking whenever we see each other

in public. We all lead very busy lives and we don't have time to always talk in person.

Because of technological advances, we are able to call for hours on end without having

to drop our other plans just to talk to each other which is super convenient for all of us.

During this time of COVID-19 learning would not be possible at all in a safe way without

technology. I live in such a technologically based generation that it is what keeps us up

to date with everything with just a few taps on our phone we have access to SO much

knowledge that could never be known instantly in other generations.

At school, guardians are all notified when a student or faculty member has been tested

positive with Covid. This information is important to know immediately because of how

fast the cases are rising right now.

Not only does Instagram provide a positive outlook on life for me but it also helps to

spread awareness about certain topics. Some of the main topics that I've seen recently

are BLM, wildlife preservation, mental health awareness, and disabilities. Instagram

allows for you to present your political opinion through others' posts, an example of this

is sharing others’ posts on your story.
