“God’s timing and my impatience” By Scott Carter
“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.” -Psalm 62:1-2 Have you ever noticed that God has a sense of humor and enjoys making us laugh and smile? Sometimes he makes us smile over something little. Other times it‟s over something big. The other day I was sticking some labels with a new address on the back of some brochures Jon Boyd had made for the church. (If you’ve been following us lately you will know we have changed locations quite a bit recently). I got to the end of the pile and realized I had just the right amount of labels to brochures and bust out loud in laughter. I stopped and thanked God right then because in all reality I was blown away with his sovereignty in that moment. Strange you might say, that something so simple made me laugh out loud? No, not really considering where I was sitting when I was working. You see, I found myself in our new office/service location (a space with room for probably around 80 people) right across the hall from where we had previously rented office. We turned over our office in November and prepared to move into a larger space that we could hold Sunday services in. Well, we‟ve been nomads ever since the man changed his mind and decided he didn‟t want to rent „to a church‟ and gave us our deposit back. Well, a few weeks ago, Alfredo ran into (God doesn‟t believe in „run in‟s‟ btw!) the owner whom we had previously rented our small office from. She asked him how it was going at our new location and Alfredo told her the situa-

She promptly told him, “come back, the renter of the largest office wants something a lot smaller and she’s taking your old office and you can have the biggest one for 150,000 pesos (approx. $80USD) more than what you were paying”. So, while gluing labels on brochures, I had to smile and realize that God literally „moved us across the hall‟. We originally wanted this space due to the size, but couldn‟t afford it at the time and took the smallest of four offices. Cont’d pg. 2

On top of that God saved us two months of office rent when we didn‟t have a location, just the time the fledgling church needed to get it‟s footing financially over these past two months! His plan truly is amazing! So, we are finally at a fixed location, no more wondering from week to week where we are going to hold services and we have a place for office space throughout the week, as well as a location where we can start our Bible institute.. We have been averaging between 15-20 adults every Sunday since our initial launch service on Jan. 9, so please continue to pray with us that God grows his church according to his perfect timetable. I‟m looking forward to seeing how God will make me smile and even laugh next as I get to see Him work in people‟s lives here in Santa Marta! Stay posted!
Jackson has really enjoyed the wildlife here in Santa Marta. Makayla has been maturing so much.
He loved watching his pet scorpion attack and feed
on cucarachas (cockroaches). He also enjoyed being the hero for a little lizard stuck in a window. His biggest excitement in the past couple months was earning his yellow belt in Tai-Kwon-Do. She is now in 2nd grade and is becoming very disciplined in not only her
school work but also gymnastics. She is very busy preparing a special presentation with her team and God keeps opening doors for her to share Jesus with her friends.
Avianna has officially completed 21 days of school and is doing really well.
She is in love
with her new little pet hamster, Henry. She loves to squish him into her Barbie furniture and let him sit in her Barbie chairs. I‟m not so sure how much Henry likes it, but he

Seeing “burros” (donkey‟s) hauling a load of supplies and other items in Colombia, especially here in Santa Marta, is nothing out of the ordinary. However it‟s not everyday that you see a dog with a pet burro! It‟s amazing that the longer you live in another country the „out of the ordinary‟ becomes ordinary!
