Mary Angela Cullen, 66, of White Plains, NY, died at home on January 28, 2007 following a seven-month battle with lung cancer. Born on October 6, 1940 in Newark, NJ to Margaret and William Conway. Angela was one of seven children raised in Summit and Chatham, NJ. After high school, Angela attended St. Joseph College in Hartford, CT for a year before beginning a career on Wall Street. Angela was married on August 15, 1964 to William J. Cullen, then a USMC Captain. Angela and Bill settled in Yorktown Heights, NY in 1969 where they lived until 1995 and raised four boys. Angela was active as a volunteer in the community and also worked as a Nursery School teacher before resuming her career in the financial industry. Despite macular degeneration gradually reducing her vision, Angela earned a B.S. from Empire State College in 1990, then went on to earn a M.S.W. from Columbia University in 1992. She then went on to work as a Social Worker at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in the Bronx before retiring several years ago. Angela will be remembered by her loved ones for her warmth, love of children, selfless concern for others and optimistic view of life. Angela is survived by her loving husband of 42 years and by her four sons, their spouses and two grandchildren, They are William Cullen Jr. of White Plains, Kevin, Carolyn, Sarah, and Ian Cullen of Pelham Manor, NY Brian and Tamara Cullen of Bloomingdale, NJ and Michael Cullen of White Plains. She is also survived by her siblings and their families: William Conway Jr., Kathy Carlson, Robert Conway, Margaret Miller, and Mary Conway, and John Conway. Calling hours are on Tuesday 2 - 4 and 7- 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday at St. John's the Evangelist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Westchester, 95 S. Broadway, 4th Floor White Plains, NY 10601.
