Cell tower installation planned by T-Mobile at Sligo Middle School, Silver Spring, MD The tower will be 130 feet tall and will be approximately 320 feet
from the school. Estimates of the RF radiation levels from cell towers are 100 times lower than the FCC standards. This means the estimated RFR level would be 10 microwatts per centimeter squared (µW/cm2). This is the maximum allowable RFR exposure level in Russia, China, Switzerland, Italy and Monaco. This level does not take into account additional transmitters, which will further increase the RFR levels. In addition the reflective and amplifying nature of RFR in the environment may lead to localized RFR hot spots that exceed the estimated levels. STAND UP FOR THE HEALTH OF THE SLIGO CREEK COMMUNITY

“Studies link cell tower radiation to learning difficulties, leukemia, eye tumors, diabetes, brain tumors, fatigue, headache, damage to blood-brain barrier, DNA strand breaks, chromosome aberrations, sleep disorders, early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, autism, and cancer at EMF/RFR levels hundreds or even thousands of times below limits currently established by the FCC. The lowest limits are in Salzburg Austria at the BioInitiative recommended exposure level of 0.1 µmW/cm2. In the U.S. it is 1000 µW/cm2.
Concerns about Cell Tower Radiofrequency Radiation (RFR) “Radio frequencies emitted from mobile telephone towers will have deleterious medical effects to people within the near vicinity according to a large body of scientific literature. Babies and children will be particularly sensitive to the mutagenic and carcinogenic effects of the radio frequency radiation. It is therefore criminal to place one of these aerials on or near a school.” Helen Caldicott, MD, pediatrician and co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility "The FCCs current exposure guidelines…are thermally based, and do not apply to chronic, non-thermal exposure situations…. Therefore, the generalization that the guidelines protect human beings from harm by any or all mechanisms is not justified.” Norbert Hankin, Radiation Protection Division, EPA
People Against Cell Towers at Schools. Individually we are the people that are constantly at the school volunteering, we are the PTA board members, the class room mom, the citizen picking up trash on the side of the road. Collectively we are a group of people that, for a number of reasons, do not think Cell towers should be placed on or near school playgrounds. http://www.expelcelltowers.org/ Wired Child Protecting Our Children From Wireless Technology http://www.wiredchild.org Working for Safe Technologies for Nurseries, Schools and Colleges http://www.wifiinschools.org.uk RespectPDX Advocating for respectful and responsible neighborhood wireless http://respectpdx.org/index.aspx WiFi in schools http://www.cavisoc.org.uk/Barrie-Trower-outlines-the-dangers-of-usingWi-Fi-in-schools.html For more information: Wireless Radiation Alert Network (WRAN) Angela Flynn email@example.com References: Montgomery County cell tower report for the proposed Sligo site - S-2795 TMobile/Montgomery County Public Schools http://www.scribd.com/doc/48542890/MCPlanningDept-Feb-2-2011-Sligo-Middle-SchoolCell-Tower Parents' Coalition of Montgomery County http://parentscoalitionmc.blogspot.com/search?q=sligo+middle+school OZAH testimony http://www.scribd.com/doc/49157401/celltowersligo (Continued on back)
