A SYLLABUS IN NSC 1
Second Semester, School Year 2010– 2011

I. COURSE TITLE: INTRODUCTION TO BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE UNITS: 3

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a three unit course subject that allows the students to trace the development of biology and identify the field of study of its different branches. The students
will learn more about the basic concepts in chemistry needed to gain a better understanding about the molecules of life. They will study the theories involving cell, the
cellular parts and functions as well as the different tissues and organs of plants and animals. They will learn how living things are classified, the theories involving the
evolution, principles of genetics and heredity and the laws of ecology.

II. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:

1. develop an interest in the study of living things;
2. appreciate that it is more than just accumulate facts;
3. relate it with other fields of science;
4. gain a deeper understanding on how organisms live, grow and interact with its environment until they eventually die and
5. gain a deeper understanding as well as appreciation of his/her anatomy and its physiological processes
