Overview
The PCNC 1100 series II represents a
new approach to bench top CNC mills.
Designed for real work, the machine
has the strength, power, and accuracy
needed to cut serious materials.
Circuit boards, aluminum, and engineer-
ing polymers are a breeze when your
machine is built to cut materials like
steel, iron, stainless steels, and titanium.
The PCNC 1100 offers unprecedented
value through Tormach’s unique
combination of machine design and
business practices.
The machine’s design is focused on the
needs of prototyping, R&D, and small
shop operations. The open design is
better suited to combined manual and
automatic operations than an enclosed
VMC (vertical machining center), yet
when combined with the Tormach®
machine stand you still have good chip
and coolant containment and a clean
shop. By limiting rapid motion to less
than 100 IPM the machine is not only
lower in cost, but also safer to operate.
By replacing a conventional ATC
(automatic tool changer) with the
quick change Tormach® Tooling System,
the machine is both easier to afford
and easier to maintain. Tooling cost is
significantly lower, yet the tool change
time is still less than 30 seconds. The
machine is built to industrial standards
and perfectly suited to work cells in
a lean manufacturing environment or
dedicated secondary operations.
The PCNC 1100 is PC controlled,
allowing your CAD and CAM software
to coexist with the CNC control
program. A single workstation takes

Control System
The PCNC 1100 integrates a PC
controller with a hard wired console
for safety and convenience.
The console includes:

The spindle and coolant system can
be controlled directly on the console,
or switched over to PC control where
screen controls and M codes are used.
The spindle lockout key overrides all
spindle start commands, as does the
safety interlock on the spindle access
cover. The multipurpose input port
can be configured for automated tool
touch off, digitizing, or used as a home
reference for the 4th axis. The machine
control software is easy to learn yet
comprehensive in functions and features.
Those new to CNC will appreciate the
simplified, single control screen which
provides clear and simple graphics with all
of the buttons and information displays
needed to run most programs. It’s a
great way for a beginner to get started.
Advanced users will appreciate the
comprehensive control screens, which
include information displays for all
functions and features. The additional
information displayed on the compre-
hensive screens is useful when dealing
with more complicated codes such as

Options and
Accessories
All of the machine options are
shipped in separate packaging and
must be user installed. For example,
when you order a machine and a
stand, you must put the machine on
the stand. The options are pre-
engineered for easy assembly and
include all necessary hardware.
Stand
At more than half a ton, the PCNC
1100 needs a sturdy base. We offer
two different welded steel stands.
The Deluxe Stand has with integral
chip and coolant tray, backsplash,
coolant tank and pump, tool storage
cabinet, and computer cabinet.
Coolant spray is contained within a
removable acrylic shield that fits on
the table of the mill. The Basic Stand
has chip tray, tool storage cabinet, and
computer cabinet. We also offer free
instructions for building a similar stand
from plywood and 2x4’s.

Machine Arm/LCD Arm
This sturdy steel arm mounts left or
right of the mill and incorporates two
link arms, a center pivot, and adjustable
brackets. The steel link arms have milled
access ports to allow routing your
computer cables through the arms. By
itself the arm can mount your LCD
computer screen and includes a tray
for computer mouse and keyboard. In
combination with the tool tray the arm
becomes a holder for 21 TTS tool
holders with a convenient tray for
your spindle wrench, caliper, chip brush,

Tormach®
Tooling System
Before TTS (Tormach® Tooling System)
came along, dual contact technology was
only available on high end 7/24 tapers.
Our low cost tool holders bring the
advantages of dual contact geometry
to your R8 or Morse taper spindle by
referencing both the spindle taper and
the spindle face. The PCNC 1100 has
an industry standard R8 taper,
allowing the use of widely available
R8 tooling. TTS is a precision tool
holding system that costs about the
same as standard R8 tooling but offers
significant improvements in rigidity,
required clearance, ease of tool change,
and Z height repeatability. TTS requires
no modification to the spindle or taper.
The tools are fully interchangeable with
conventional R8 tooling. Available as
individual pieces or complete sets, TTS
is equally suited for both manual and
CNC operations.

Duality Lathe
The Duality Lathe is a patented dual
function lathe accessory. It clamps
to the mill table much the same as a
machinist’s vise. When mounted on the
mill table, it becomes a full function
CNC lathe. CNC lathe software is
included and provides manual,
semi-automated, and fully automated
CNC lathe functions. All standard
operations are supported, including
turning, facing, parting, even theading.
When you removed the lathe and set
it on your workbench it becomes a
conventional manual lathe. As a manual
lathe it has all standard functions you
would expect. Whether it’s on your
mill or on your workbench, the

Universal
Accessory Arm
The universal arm is designed to provide
a convenient mounting point for any-
thing you might want to have firmly
mounted on the machine head.
One example is mounting a high-speed
die grinder or router, very handy for
circuit board drilling or engraving.
We offer a machined cast iron arm that
clamps on the spindle nose. It has a flat
machined surface with tapped holes on
three sides.

We have combined the Universal
Spindle Accessory Arm with an
aluminum sub-plate and a precision
German made die grinder. The result is
a variable speed side mounted spindle.
At 100 Watts and up to 20,000 RPM,
this is a great way to do engraving,
circuit board milling, or drilling a few
zillion #60 holes. The kit includes both
the die grinder and the universal arm.

handwheel. More convenient than a
conventional single wheel, the Tormach®
jog/shuttle controller contains two
wheels, a conventional electronic wheel
for precision positioning, plus an outer
wheel for quick jogging

Digitizing Probe
Tormach’s precision digitizing probe
serves a variety of functions. For
reverse engineering it can be used for
anything from collecting a few position
points on a part, to building a complete
3D model from an automated touch
matrix. For setup operations the
PCNC 1100 software includes one click
buttons that will allow the probe to be
used to center the machine to a hole,
find the center of an arc, center of a
rectangle, or the corner of a vise.
It can even be used to zero the
machine height to your work.
The probe has the same mount style as
TTS tools, thus allowing quick change
and full compatibility.

Reversing Tapping
Heads
Reversing tapping heads make quick
work of tapped holes since they don’t
require spindle reversals to back out
the tap. Tormach makes tapping easy
to do through the integration of
pre-programmed in the tapping
macros in the PCNC 1100 software.
Simply specify the tap pitch and call the
macro. The tapping heads are built with
TTS mounting geometry so they are
interchangeable with TTS tool holders.

Machine Vise
A good vise is the foundation for much
of your work. Our 5” vise is the perfect
size for the PCNC 1100 mill. Nickel
plated screw with needle bearings and
turned steel handle provide positive
clamping pressure with minimum effort.
Each vise includes precision ground
hardened jaws, while optional soft jaws
make for handy custom fixtures and
step jaws avoid the need for parallels.

Machines are warranted for 6 months.
Warranty service is limited to repair
