ORACLE Installation Guide to SQL and Form Builder

w/ Reports

Here are some steps in ORACLE installation. Follow these print screen steps and you
will a have oracle products instantly.

Insert your CD 1/DVD disk that contain first installation, it includes SQL products.
Open your CD/DVD and go to “D:\install\win32\setup.exe”
Click the setup to install. Here is the first appearance.

Click “Install Oracle9iDS”.


Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.
Click Next.
Global Database Name is safari3 but its up to you if you want to change. SID and GDN
must the same because it is used in connecting tables and database. Example:
hr/hr@safari3. Click Next.

Click Next.

Click Next.
Click Install.

Just wait while installer install the oracle into your computer.
In a minuite , after the CD1 installed, the installer ask you to insert the CD2, for DVD
disk no need to swap CD just locate the folder named “CD2” and then press OK.
In a minuite,after the CD2 installed, the installer ask you to insert the CD3, for DVD disk
no need to swap CD just locate the folder named “CD3” and then press OK.

After the CD3 installed, just wait for a moment to database configuration assistant.
SYS Password: safari
Confirm SYS Password: safari
SYSTEM Password: patrol
Confirm SYSTEM Password: patrol
Click OK.

And that’s it. The ORACLE SQL installed on your computer. Let’s try the ORACLE
Form Builder and Reports.
Insert your Form Builder CD 1/DVD disk that contain first installation, it includes Form
Builder products.
Open your CD/DVD and go to “D:\Autorun.exe” or else “D:\form builder
1\autorun\autorun.exe”.
Click the autorun.exe to install. Here is the first appearance
Click “Install Oracle9iDS”.

Click Next.
The First Destination Name is “forms9i” and path is “C:\oracle\forms9i”. you can
change it any name you want but it must be forms9i. Click Next.
Choose “Complete” for full installment of the Form Builder components and the
ORACLE Container for J2EE(OC4J). Click Next

Don’t Put anything on the textbox. Just Click Next.

Click “Install”.
Just wait while installing components.
The Disc ask to locate the Destination of “form builder 2”. Click Browse.

Click the Folder “form builder 2” in your DVD and for CD, Insert your Form Builder
Disc 2 and then look for Path CD named “form builder 2” to continue the installation.
Press OK

And now, the path changed from form builder 1 to form builder 2. Press OK.
The Configuration Tools will appeared. To Continue this, Minimize this form(but do not
cancel) and you will see this on the back:

Do not check Perform Typical configuration. Just Click Next.


Choose “ No, I want to defer this configuration to another time”. Click Next.

Click Next.
Choose “Oracle8 release 8.0 database or service”. Click Next.

Type “safari3” on the Database SID. Click Next.


Choose “TCP”. Click Next.

As you could see, there is a Host Name. Where is my Host Name?? To know it, Go to
Start>Run and type “dxdiag” and then press OK.
It will Appear your Computer Information Diagnostic Tools. The red circle is the location
name of your computer. Don’t copy on this red circle! copy your own computer name
into the Host Name.

See? Now my computer name is in the Host Name. Are you too? Click Next.
Choose “Yes, perform a test”. To test the connection of the database into your
computer. Click Next.

If its through, then the test will be successful. See? Click Next.
Input “safari3” on the Net Service Name. Click Next.

Choose “No”. Click Next.


Click Next.

Click Next.
Click Finish.
For the final installation, we must install the “JInitiator 1.3.1.9” setup. This will appear
if you run your project in form builder.

Click Next. And wait for finishing installation. If finished, close the web browser and
then run it again.
The Installation was successful. Congratulation. Enjoy using ORACLE. I hope you
