I have heard this verse used many times to invite someone to Christ, and
rightfully so, it can be used while witnessing to someone, but this was written to
the church. It is written to believers. I asked Jesus to come into my heart when
I was 16 years old, and He did come into my heart. But I believe this verse is
talking about relationship and not eternal life. It is about Him sitting at our table
and supping with us, which is fellowship. It is also Lordship.
When I knelt at the altar at 16 years of age I needed my sins washed
away. After having my sins washed away, I needed a relationship with Christ. I
remember saying to myself the night of my salvation that if I was going to be a
Christian then I wanted to be the best Christian possible. I left that altar with a
zeal to be the best. Not long after, I fell flat on my face. The first five years of my
salvation I attempted to be the best. But it is not within man to be the best. Try as
hard as you can, you cannot please God in the flesh! How many Christians today
are trying to serve God through their flesh? Somewhere they will become a wash
out, because we don’t have the power in our flesh to be victorious. We must live
in the Spirit to have the power to overcome. I think this verse in Revelations is
teaching us how to live in the Spirit.

were embarrassed because your house was not clean? You didn’t want to invite
them inside, so you stood at the door and communicated. I fear that is what we
do with Christ. We leave Him at the door, either because our house is not clean
or we think we can handle things by ourselves. We want to know what He has to
say, but we don’t invite Him in to be a part of our work. We want to show Him

After five years of trying to serve the Lord by myself, I finally went to
the door and invited Him to sit at my table and sup with me. Why did it take me

Some days it is a cup of pure blessing and some days it is filled with sorrow. Amen!
Some days we enjoy drinking our cup and other days we struggle over our cup.

These verses used to bother me. I thought Jesus was asking the Father to
remove the cross, but it wasn’t the cross that troubled Him, it was the cup. The A recent study has shown that women who carry a little

OH HOW LIFE DOES CHANGE YOU!
Here are some of the things I have learned serving through Jerry’s life. A
happy man is more fun to serve. Work at making him happy. Always ask God for
your desire, before asking your husband, then accept his answer as your answer
from God. Don’t do your husband’s job. Leave it undone and when he pays the
penalties he will learn to do his job. Sometimes we learn more in failure than we
do in victory. We are not to be their savior; we are to be their servants. In heaven
the servant has the greatest honor. We have a heavenly position.
To the woman who has an evil husband, remember Esther and Daniel
who served under wicked kings. They were able to be used of God in ungodly
kingdoms. We have an evil government today and we are going to have to learn
how to serve through it. May we be a Daniel or an Esther for the Lord.
It has been close to a year since Jerry passed away. What I miss most
is not having a head to work through. I not only learned how to work through a
head, but I learned to appreciate having a head to work through. I have always
done the writing of Tid Bits of Wisdom, but I always had Jerry check it over and
tell me if he approved. The Heavenly Father is husband to the widow, but we
can’t see Him or touch Him. It’s quite a change. I would never have believed
in my youth that I would come to love the way God designed us to work. God’s
way is the only way that works and we need to stop resisting His Word.
Bow your knee to the Father. Accept His Word and then you will begin
to understand and see the beauty and joy of doing His Way.

I had one desire for my marriage. I wanted to make a difference in Jerry’s
life. Jerry died a better man than he was when we married. I don’t know how
much I had to do with that, but at least being married to me did not destroy him.
I am a much better person than I was when we married, and God used Jerry’s life
to mold me into what I am today. Are you building or plucking down your house
today ?
I want God’s way to be my way
As I journey here below.
For there is no other highway
That a child of God should go.
Though the road be long and rough
If He leads me tis enough
I want God’s Way to be my way everyday!

We can learn so much from Jesus in the garden. If we are facing a cup
that is hard to drink we have the right to ask it to be removed. Our God is a merci-
ful God and if His will can be accomplished without us drinking our cup, He will
removed it. But, if not, our prayer should be, “Nevertheless Thy Will be done.”
We as God’s children should live to do the will of God. It’s not always
easy and that is why Jesus stands at our heart’s door offering to come in and help
us sup our cup. We do not have to drink it alone!
But that’s not all there is to it. He also said, “And he with me.” We can
sup from the Lord’s cup also and share all the victories He has won. The Father
has put all things under the feet of Jesus and as children of God we are joint heirs
with Jesus. Not only will He share our troubles, we have the right to share His
victories.
If you are still meeting the Lord at the door of your heart, you are missing
out on wonderful fellowship. Next time He knocks, invite Him into the table of
your heart. You’ll never be the same. It’s where we become friends.
The Bible speaks of all kinds of cups. You should take time to study
about the cups. I think you will find it very interesting.
TO MY WIDOW FRIENDS
I asked to hear from widows in the last issue, and since then I have re-
ceived several letters. I have so enjoyed reading their stories of how the Lord
has provided for them. Almost all of them talked about how their prayer life had
grown sweeter. I can relate to that, also. Prayer is more like a relationship than a
conversation now.
My pastor and my church have been very gracious to me. They continue
to show me the respect of a pastor’s wife. My pastor’s wife is also very good to
me and shares her work with me from time to time. This is a treasure to me. I
remember when my father died, my mother just felt lost. She had been a pastor’s
wife all her married life and she wasn’t sure where she fit after daddy’s death.
Many preachers have died this year and I am sure many pastor’s wives are having
to find where they fit. I know they would appreciate any help you could give.
I lived in a pastor’s house all of my life until I married at 16 years of age.
I had always said I wasn’t going to marry a preacher. I wanted to just be one of
the people. I wanted to serve God without a title. I wanted people to know that I
obeyed God because I loved Him and not because I was the preacher’s kid! Well,
God gave me 27 years to serve from the pew before He put my husband in the
pastorate. God preformed many miracles in those 27 years, and then He called
Jerry to preach. I now serve God as a widow and my desire is the same. I serve
God because I love Him and I trust Him with my life. I covet your prayers, that
what years I have left, I will glorify God. ----Gloria Brewster

GOD IS LOVE
The thing that is missing today in the body of Christ is genuine godly
love! Why? “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax
cold.” (Matt 24:12) We have failed to purge out the iniquities of our lives.
Prov 16:6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord
men depart from evil.

This is the secret of a blessed life. Mercy and truth will clean out your
iniquities. Iniquity is truth and a lie working together. God wants us to purge
out the lies that destroy us. We must know the word of God in order to know the
truth. Mercy is the opposite of a judgmental spirit. We will not take the time to
do this unless we live in the fear of the Lord. To fear the Lord is to fear the pen-
alty of sinful actions. Too often we say that our sin is little and it doesn’t really
matter that much to God. Wrong! The wages of sin is DEATH! Every time we
sin something dies.
Has your love turned cold ? Be merciful, seek truth, and walk in
the fear of the Lord. Love the Lord thy God with all thine heart. Love thy
neighbor as thyself! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!!!
IN MEMORY OF:
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin! By faith I accepted God placing the
man as head of the home. I accepted that if God did it, it was for my good and
not a judgment. It was God’s design and it was good, but I couldn’t understand it.
I submitted myself to the Word of God as being life, truth and good for my life.
My resentment went away and now I had to learn how to work through Jerry’s
life. That was a process and took some time to learn how to make it work for my
good. The first thing I learned was, Jerry was not to be god of my life. He was to
be head of our work (home). God was head of my life. It was my job to fulfill the
will of my husband, like the Word fulfills the will of the Father. As I submitted
to God, He gave me understanding and taught me the beauty of working through
my husbands life.
God made one man and that man was a male and a female. The female
was made from the male and for the male. She was made to help meet what was
missing in his life. He had seed, but no place to plant it. He had no life (breast
milk) to sustain life. God man woman to complete the man’s life. We were the
only creation created to serve another creation. Woman is unique! When woman
joins a man’s life he gives her his name and they become one. What they do from
then on reflects on that name!
1 Cor 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of
the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
We all work through a head! Even the Lord Jesus Christ works through
a head. Anywhere there is the knowledge of good and evil there must be a struc-
ture of authority. The moment Adam and Eve’s eyes were opened and they knew
evil, they had to serve a structure of authority. The union of a male and female in

GOD IS LOVE!
We use the word ‘Love’ often. Actually, we mean we have a desire
for whatever we call love. If love is God, then loving is expressing God’s
person. If you are not acting godly, then you are not acting out of love.
Why should we live in an attitude and spirit of love? Because,
“Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the
law.” ( Rom 13:10). Do you want to fulfill the law of God in your life?
Then act and live in the spirit of love. You won’t do damage to anyone if
you exercise godly love and you will be fulfilling the law of God.
A man once told his pastor that he was leaving his wife and children
because he loved another woman. The pastor said, “If I can prove to you
that you do not love that woman, would you remain with your wife?” The
man said, “Yes.” The pastor said, “By leaving your wife you are harming
her and your children and you are also harming the woman’s husband and
children. Love wouldn’t do that!”
If you have sex outside of marriage, you are causing that person,
as well as yourself, to sin. You are not loving that person. Y ou are using
that person for selfish reasons.
Why should we live in an attitude and spirit of love? Perfect
love casteth out fear! Fear has torment! If you live in fear, you are not
living in love.
Why should we live in an attitude and spirit of love? “But as it
is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the
heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
(1 Cor 2:9) If you don’t live in the spirit of love you are going to miss out
on priceless blessings. God already has these blessings prepared. All we
have to do is love Him!
Why should we live in an attitude and spirit of love? “For in
Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision;
but faith which worketh by love.” (Gal 5:6) Without faith it is impossible
to please God! Faith works by love! Without love you are not pleasing
