MCSO ARRESTS TWO JUVENILES AS A RESULT OF PERINTON GUN-POINT

ROBBERY AND SUBSEQUENT PURSUIT
Keen, Quick Police Work and Coordination of Multiple, Complex, High-Risk Events Credited
for Successful, Safe Conclusion

Perinton, NY (February 12, 2021) – On Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 2:50 a.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s
deputies responded to the Fairport Baptist Home, located at 4646 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd., Perinton for
the report of a gun-point robbery in which the victim’s car was stolen. As deputies were investigating, a
second call came in to 911 dispatch at 3:18 a.m. for the report of a commotion in the parking lot of Penfield
Skyline Apartments, located at 1730 Penfield Rd., Penfield. A short time later, MCSO Lt. Brian Unterborn
spotted the vehicle stolen in the Perinton robbery, accompanied by two other stolen vehicles, one from
Penfield, the other from the City of Rochester. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on I-490, which led to a
pursuit. During the pursuit, one of the vehicles broke away, traveling onto I-590 South, which led to a second
simultaneous pursuit.

The pursuits led deputies to separate neighborhoods in the City of Rochester. The vehicle stolen in the
Perinton Robbery crashed at Essex and Silver Streets. As the driver exited the vehicle and fled, a loaded
magazine was recovered on the ground. With much appreciated assistance from the Rochester Police
Department, a perimeter was established, a K9 track was conducted, resulting in the detainment of the driver.
The second pursuit involving the stolen vehicle from Penfield ended in the neighborhood of Roxborough Rd.
and Westfield St. when the driver of the vehicle crashed into a sign and fled on foot. Again, with the
assistance of RPD, a second perimeter was established and a K-9 track led to the detainment of the driver.

Law enforcement officers discovered the third vehicle, stolen from the City of Rochester, unoccupied on
Rochester’s west side. It appears it was involved in a minor MVA. Deputies performed evidence tech work
on all three vehicles at the scenes before the vehicles were towed and secured. MCSO is continuing its
investigation to locate the weapon displayed in the robbery.

We are grateful to the MCSO deputies and RPD officers who worked multiple, complex, simultaneous events
across multiple jurisdictions to bring this dangerous situation to a safe and successful conclusion with the
arrests of two individuals. Due to their juvenile status, the names of the individuals are being withheld. Both
were remanded to the Monroe County Children’s Center in Rush.
