Minutes of the Meeting
A special board meeting was held to discuss what should be done in response to the possible Ban by the US FDA of a major product Easy Fix of our company. In this meeting it was discussed that which of the following alternatives should be adopted for the US market.
A.Recall and destroy all stocks of Easy Fix. B. Stop the production of Easy Fix immediately but allow existing
stocks to be sold. C.Stop all advertising and promotion of Easy Fix but allow doctors to continuous prescribing the drug. D.Continue marketing efforts on Easy Fix until it sale is Banned by the FDA. E. Take legal and other necessary actions to prevent the FDA from banning Easy Fix. In total, there are nine members taking part in the meeting. Members are Apple Abbigayle, Richard Matt, Louise Nuran, Elaine Kong, Birdy Brett, Esther Chan, Mike Muchael, Sally Ching, Carol Kan, Robert Chan has sent his Apology. Abbigayle send Brett to start first. Bret picked the option “C” because he believe that the doctors now their patients well if they think its OK for their patients then they should be able to prescribe this drug as long as its not Banned. Abbigayle also agree with him.Nuran pick the”A” because he thinks due to the side effects it caused bad publicity.Matty also choose”A” for the same reasons.Muchael chose “A” because he think that drug companies have the responsibilities to provide the safest medicine. Sally chose choice “B” because he thinks that we can continuous to sell the product that is left in the store. It make our the part of the loss of our company.Elaine agreed with Sally because he thinks we cannot just stop it this may caused a
sudden damage.Ester also choice “B” because in his opinion we can sell all the stock before it really bans. Carol choice “A” because he think by doing so we gain the reputation for being responsible.Matt gave reasons for choicing “A” that a similar type of thing almost happened with an American company Johnson & Johnson and they recalled every thing but regain their position in the market place. Selly disagreed with Matt because he think in case of our company is different from Johnson & Johnson because that product only caused a small proparation of the total revenue and its revenue is large proportion of our company. Elaine give arguments that we shell wait for that time when FDA bans our product and in mean time we should allow the product to be sold to protect our revenue. Nuran said that we should take the responsibilities before the FDA bans its. Selly argued that the drug is not the main factors of the death of patients. If FDA proved that then we recall and destroy it. Carol said our product cause 20 to 30 deaths and Elaine said we cannot lose our revenue. Abbigayle agree with Elaine but he thinks it is under the doctor’s control as well. Esther said we should develop a new drug as a substitute to Easy Fix. Elaine agreed with Ester because it is a long term approach but he think for a short term we should hire a team of expert to conduct a research about the safety of our product because we do not know whether the prosecution of FDA is right or not then we should plain the substitutes drug and pull Easy Fix from the market. Ester by conducting research we will show that our company do concern about this matter. Abbigayle agreed with it.
Finally all the participants agreed on point “B” and said that choice “B” is a good choice for long term approach and for gaining repetition later we can find a substitutes and we can
get a market later it will cause a short term loss but it will be helpful to our profit in the future and “B” is the absolute choice.
