Eligibility Criterion:

Flying Branch: SSC(Short Service Commission) for men and women

a) Gender: Both Men & Women are eligible to apply.

b) Age Limit: 19 to 23 years as on 01 July 2011 (Born between 02 Jul 1988 and 01 Jul 1992).
c) Educational Qualification: Graduates(Three year degree course) in any discipline from a
recognized university who have attained minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR B.E/B.TECH degree (Four Year course) from a
recognized university with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
d) Physical Standards:
a) Height & Weight: Minimum height: Men 162.5 Cms with corelated weight and leg length
in the range of 99 cms (Min) and 120 cms (max).
b) Vision:
● (a) Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.
● (b) Manifest Myopia - Nil.
● (c) LASIK Surgery for correction of vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of
Short service Commission (Flying Branch)

● if the following conditions are fulfilled at the time of Air Force medical examination:-
● (i) LASIK Surgery should not have been carried out before the age of 20 years.
● (ii) The axial length of the eye should not be more than 25.5 mm as measured by IOL master.
● (iii) At least twelve months should have lapsed post uncomplicate stable LASIK. No history or
evidence of any complication.
● (iv) The post LASIK corneal thickness as measured by a corneal pachymeter should not be less
than 450 microns.
● (v) Individuals with high refractive errors (>6D) prior to LASIK are to be excluded. Candidates
must not suffer from colour or night blindness.

c) Other additional medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities
whose decision on the fitness would be final.
METEOROLOGY BRANCH: PERMANENT COMMISSION(PC)/SSC(Short Service
Commission) for men and SSC(Short Service Commission) for women

a) Gender: Both Men & Women are eligible to apply.

b) Age Limit: 20 to 25 years as on 01 July 2011 (Born between 02 Jul 1986 and 01 Jul 1991).
c) Educational Qualification: PG Degree in any Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/
Computer Applications/ Environment Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Agricultural
Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geophysics/ Environmental Biology with minimum of 50%
marks in aggregate in all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studies at Graduation
Level, with a minimum of 55% in both).

Candidates appearing in the final year/ semester examinations of the above mentioned PG courses may
also apply provided they full fill the following conditions:-
a) Candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 50%
marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto last semester/year for which results have been
declared at the time of applying/ AFSB testing.
b) Candidates should be able to provide provisional/ original degree certificate issued by
University latest by 15 June 2011.

d) Physical Standards:
a) Height & Weight: Minimum height: Men 157.5 Cms, Women- 152 Cms with corelated
weight.
b) Other additional medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorities
whose decision on the fitness would be final.

NOTE: AGE LIMIT FOR candidates having M.Ed/ Ph. D would be 20 to 27 years as on 01 Jul 2011.

c) Educational Qualification: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B Com) with minimum of 60% marks
in aggregate in all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M Com)/ CA/ ICWA
with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Candidates appearing in the final year/ semester examinations of the above mentioned PG courses may
also apply provided they full fill the following conditions:-
a) Candidate should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 50%
marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto last semester/year for which results have been
