I have been on adventure rides over hills and mountains but never thought there will

be a day when I'll be on an adventure flight. A flight in which everybody would be

masked, face shielded, and fearing each other.

If the movie Airlift was to be filmed on me, this would be the story-

19th May 2020 - Karnataka bans entry from Maharashtra till 31st May
Me-
20th May 2020 - Govt. of India declares resumption of Domestic flights.
Me -
23rd May 2020 - Maharashtra announces no flights till 31st May
Me-
24th May 2020 - Maharashtra says Yes to flights, but with limited capacity
Me-
28th May 2020 (Afternoon) - Karnataka announces ban for travelers from
Maharashtra (yet again!)
Me -
28th May 2020 (Evening) - Karnataka says no Ban for travelers from Maharashtra,
flights to be limited
Me -

A couple of years ago, all I did to travel from Ahmednagar to Pune was to go to Nagar
Bus stand, catch a bus, sit for 3 hours and reach the destination.

But this time, I had to

 Book a private vehicle and ask driver to have medical checkup and send me the
soft copy
 Get a Medical certificate for myself
 Fill in the portal to apply for inter district travel pass
 Pray for the pass to get approved and get ready to travel to Pune on the
approved date

After getting all the approvals and documents for the travel, I was finally all set for
my 900 kms travel to Bangalore. Over the months of April and May, there was never
a day I reduced the fan speed to less than 5. On the night of 31st May, suddenly out of
nowhere, it rained cats and dogs all over the city and changed the climate from
extreme hot to super cold. The same climate continued over the next day, but did not
stop me from travelling to Pune.
I reached the entrance of Pune Airport at around 8.30 pm, was welcomed by thermal
screening and then asked to display the ID card and Aarogya Setu App. After ensuring
I was safe to travel, I was allowed inside the airport. Since I had already done a web
checkin (this was compulsory anyways), I was asked to get into a line to drop the
checked in bag. Here, I was asked to display the approval/ acknowledgement from
KA Govt. (Seva Sindhu App) – again mandate. After dropping the bag, I moved to the
security check where instead of the usual way of taking the ID/ Boarding pass in
hands, the security officer asked me to scan the pass and ensured everything was
touchless. Also, the security scanning of bag was done in a completely sanitized tray.
The tray was sanitized after every bag scan.

Half an hour before the boarding, we were provided with masks, face shields and
sanitizer sachets and were requested to obey social distancing. I was surprised to see
such discipline all over airport and maintaining social distancing and utmost care.
We boarded the flight around 23.10 and reached Bangalore airport at around 00.45.

We were welcomed to Bangalore airport with sanitizer poured in our hands and asked
to show the Seva Sindhu acknowledgement again. We were then divided into three
rows – one for connecting flights, one for travelers from exempted category and one
going to be put into institutional quarantine. After checking the temperature (again!),
we were stamped for institutional quarantine and were asked to select the range of
hotel we wanted to be quarantined in. We were made to wait for some 1.5 hours after
all the process got completed and were brought to quarantine center by bus.

PS: Writing this on a quarantine weekend! No issues other than the thermal checkup
that happens every alternate day.
