Your First Project: Introduction to Business Concepts


Scenario

You have chosen to join the Business or


IT Business programs at RKWC. You
have already experienced Level 1, heard
that this program includes in level 2 some
interesting Business Subjects and want to
know more about them. It’s time for you
to find out:

The key concepts you will need to know


about the Marketing Subject and the
benefits you expect to gain from studying
it.

Goal

To understand and apply the underlying concepts of Marketing

To reflect on how the concepts and affect UAE consumers.


Instructions

Work with a small team (3 to 4) to find out a little about


the Marketing subject and to present your findings.

Describe and detail some concepts in the subject:

Define Marketing
Talk how marketing evolved from selling to
Marketing
Talk about the Marketing Philosophy (orientation) in
a modern organization
• List two key concepts for Marketing and explain them
(PRICING, 4 PS, DISTRIBUTION, BRANDING, ADVERTISING, PROMOTION, PLC,
TARGET MARKET ARE ALL EXAMPLES OF CONCEPTS)
• Examine the impact these two concepts could have on
you as a:
• Future Employee working in
marketing
• Future Wife and mother – consumer

• Give three benefits you expect to gain from studying


this Marketing subject.

Deliverables (what is expected from you):


You are required to make a 20 - 25 minute presentation
(by Team) to illustrate your learning of the above. Use
examples of real life situations and companies to
better explain your ideas.

Examples are encouraged throughout the entire


presentation to illustrate your ideas.

Slides also to be submitted, on the presentation day


before the presentation (STAPPLED, YOUR NAMES YOUR Ids number on
them).

Plus any other materials you would like to submit.


Time Frame

Four weeks

Team Work & Preparation: W2, W3 & week 4 of the


semester.

Continuous monitoring in w 3& w 4.


Presentations start week 5

week 4 – final checking of work in class

Presentations in class in W5 and submission of


accompanying slides and any other materials.
