The great scholar Hujjat al-lslam Abu Ja'far alWarraq al-Tahawi al-Misri, may Allah have
mercy on him, said:

1. This is a presentation of the beliefs of Ahl
al-Sunna wa al-Jama`a, according to the school
of the jurists of this religion, Abu Hanifa alNu`man ibn Thabit al-Kufi, Abu Yusuf Ya`qub
ibn Ibrahim al-Ansari and Abu `Abdullah
Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani, may
Allah be pleased with them all, and what they
believe regarding the fundamentals of the
religion and their faith in the Lord of the
worlds.

2. We say about the Tawheed of Allah
(monotheism), believing in Allah's help – that
Allah is One,
without any partners.
3. There is nothing like Him.
4. There is nothing that can overwhelm Him.
5. There is no god other than Him.
6. He is The Eternal without a beginning and
The Everlasting without end
.
7. He will never perish or come to an end.
8. Nothing happens except what He wills.
9. No imagination can conceive of Him.
10. and no understanding can comprehend
Him.
11. He does not
resemble the creation
.
12. He is attributed with Life, and is not
subject to death
.
13. He is eternal, and is not subject to sleep
.
14. He created without a need to create
.
15. He is The Sustainer/Provider (for all)
without difficulty (or effort)
.
16. He wills for death (of His creation) without
fear
.
17. He resurrects without difficulty

18. He has always existed (eternally)1 with His
attributes before any creation.
19. Bringing creation into existence did not
add anything to His attributes that was not
already there
.
20. And as He always was, with His attributes,
in pre-eternity, so He will remain as such
everlastingly
.
21. It was not only after creating the creation
He gained the attribute of “The Creator”.
22. Nor was it
only after originating entities He gained the
attribute of “Al- Bari” (The Originator)
.
23. He was always The Lord even when there
was nothing to be Lord of.
24. And always The Creator
even when there was no creation
.
25. Although He is attributed with being “The
Ressurector”, (because the dead will be
resurrected), yet He, Ta’ala, had that attribute
before resurrecting anything. Similarly, He had
the
attribute “The Creator” before creating
anything
.

Everything happens according to His decree and will . He (eternally) knew whatever His creation would do before He created them . 31. 36. 32. Nothing was hidden from Him before He created them . He assigned to them fixed life spans . Nothing is like Him. 4 . 28. 30. He ordered them to obey Him and forbade them to disobey Him . He destined destinies for those He created . 27. And EVERYTHING is in complete need of Him . He created the creation according to His (eternal) Knowledge and Will (purposely) . 37. 35. Everything is easy for Him . 29. He is not in need of anything .His will is executed. 34. and He is attributed with Hearing and Sight .

39. The will of the creation cannot overcome His Will. and no one can overpower His commands . chosen Prophet. out of His kindness and generosity . We have complete faith in Him. And He leads astray whoever He wills. and keeps them safe from harm. and beloved Messenger . He is above being attributed with opposites or equals . out of His justice . 5 . protects them. 45. disgraces them. 44. and His justice. All of the creation is subjugated by His will. and afflicts them. He guides whomever He wills. 40. No one can ward off His decree . moving between His generosity. could never happen . 43. And Muhammad is His most exalted worshipper.No one can void His sentence. َ َ ‫م‬ َ ‫ه‬ ُ ‫ما‬ َ ِ ‫ وَإ‬،‫م الن ْب َِياِء‬ ُ ِ ‫خات‬ ُ ّ ‫وَأن‬ ِ ْ ‫ال َت‬ ُ ‫سي ّد‬ َ َ‫ و‬،‫قَياِء‬ ‫ب‬ ّ ‫ب َر‬ ُ ‫حِبي‬ َ َ‫ن و‬ َ ‫م ُْر‬ ْ ‫ال‬ َ ‫سِلي‬ ‫ن‬ ِ َ ‫ال َْعال‬ َ ‫مي‬ ّ ُ ‫وَك‬ ‫وى النبوة بعده‬ َ ْ‫ل د َع‬ ‫فغي وهوى‬ ‫وهو المبعوث إلى عامة‬ ‫الجن وكافة الورى‬ ‫ وبالنور‬،‫بالحق والهدى‬ ‫والضياء‬ . And He is the final (last) of the Prophets .‫وأن القرآن كلم الله‬ ،‫منه بدأ بل كيفية قوًل‬ ‫وأنزله على رسوله‬ .‫البرية‬ ‫فمن سمعه فزعم أنه‬ . 6 .‫قا‬ ً ‫ذلك ح‬ ‫وأيقنوا أنه كلم الله‬ . 52.‫تعالى بالحقيقة‬ ‫ليس بمخلوق ككلم‬ . He is the one who has been sent to all the jinn and all mankind with Truth and Guidance and with Light and Illumination . They (the believers) firmly believed that the Qur’an is the true word of Allah. 48. The Qur’an is the word of Allah. 49. He (Allah) revealed it (The Qur’an) to His prophet.He is the best of the pious worshippers. 54. And anyone who hears it and claims that it is human speech has become an unbeliever. It came from Him without (saying) how . 47.‫وحًيا‬ ‫وصدقه المؤمنون على‬ .‫ فقد كفر‬،‫كلم البشر‬ 46. 51. It is not created as in the speech of human beings . 53. the most honored of all the messengers. 50. 55. Any claim to prophethood after him is falsehood and deviation . And the believers testified to it as the absolute truth with a firm faith . and the beloved to The Lord of the worlds .

59.‫انزجر‬ ‫وعلم أنه بصفاته ليس‬ .it is for those who say: “This is just the words of humans” (the meaning of Ayah 25 in Surat.‫ول يشبه قول البشر‬ 58. When Allah threatens with Hellfire.‫البشر‬ . They should know that He. 7 . We know and firmly believe that the Qur’an is the word of The Creator of mankind and that it does not resemble that of humans .Al-Muddaththir) ‫وقد ذمه الله وعابه‬ ‫ حيث‬،‫وأوعده بسقر‬ ُ ‫قال تعالى " سأ‬ ‫ه‬ ‫لي‬ ‫ص‬ ِ ِ ْ َ (26 : ‫قَر " )المدثر‬ َ ‫س‬ َ 57. ‫فلما أوعد الله بسقر‬ ّ ‫ذا إ ِل‬ َ َ‫ن ه‬ ْ ِ ‫ " إ‬: ‫لمن قال‬ ُ ْ‫قَو‬ َ َ ‫ل ال ْب‬ ‫شرِ " علمنا‬ ‫وأيقنا أنه قول خالق‬ . 62. Anyone who grasps this should take note of it.56. Whosoever attributes Allah with (even one) attribute of human beings becomes a blasphemer .‫كفر‬ . and His Attributes. The people of Paradise will see their Lord without their vision being allencompassing and without “the how” of their vision being known.‫كالبشر‬ ،‫والرؤية حق لهل الجنة‬ . And refrain from saying things such as the unbelievers say.‫بغير إحاطة ول كيفية‬ 60. which means): “I will torture him in Hellfire”. 61. disgraced him and promised him Hellfire when He said (in Surat AlMuddathther (74). ayah 26. It does not resemble that of humans . ‫ومن وصف الله بمعنى‬ ‫ فقد‬،‫من معاني البشر‬ . Allah condemned him. is not like human beings . 63.‫فمن أبصر هذا اعتبر‬ ‫وعن مثل قول الكفار‬ .

ٌ‫َرب َّها َناظ َِرة‬ 64.‫ومعناه على ما أراد‬ 67. in authentic traditions. ‫متوهمين بأهوائنا‬ ‫فإنه ما سلم في دينه إل‬ ‫من سلم لله عز وجل‬ ‫ولرسوله صلى الله‬ . is as he said. No one is safe in his faith unless he/she submits themselves completely to Allah. sallallahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam. 66.‫كما قال‬ .‫الله تعالى وعلمه‬ 65. the Exalted and Glorified. ayah 22: (which means): “Faces on that Day are radiant. 68. ‫ل ندخل في ذلك‬ ‫ ول‬،‫متأولين بآرائنا‬ . ‫وكل ما جاء في ذلك‬ ‫من الحديث الصحيح‬ ‫عن الرسول صلى الله‬ ‫عليه وآله وسلم فهو‬ . and to His Messenger. We do not dwell into that (those kinds of verses). 8 . We submit the true meaning and interpretation of the above verse (regarding vision) to what Allah wants and knows. And its meaning and interpretation is exactly what he intended . 70. looking to their Lord” ‫وتفسيره على ما أراده‬ .‫إلى عالمه‬ 69. . As the Book of Allah said in Surat Al-Qiyamah. And leaves the knowledge of things that are ambiguous to the one who knows them . And everything that has come to us about this from the Messenger.‫كما نطق به كتاب ربنا‬ ‫ضَرةٌ إ َِلى‬ ِ ‫مئ ِذٍ ّنا‬ ُ ُ‫و‬ َ ْ‫جوهٌ ي َو‬ . trying to interpret it according to our own opinions nor our imaginations . sallallahu alayhi wa aalhi wa sallam.‫عليه وآله وسلم‬ ‫ورد ّ علم ما اشتبه عليه‬ .

‫اليمان‬ ‫فيتذبذب بين الكفر‬ ‫ والتصديق‬،‫واليمان‬ ‫ والقرار‬،‫والتكذيب‬ . and whose intellect is not satisfied with submission. will remain deprived of the pure monotheism (Tawheed).‫ول تثبت قدم السلم إل‬ ‫على ظهر التسليم‬ . 72.‫مكذًبا‬ ‫ول يصح اليمان بالرؤية‬ ‫لهل دار السلم لمن‬ ‫اعتبرها منهم بوهم أو‬ . And that he/she will be swinging between disbelief and belief.‫تأولها بفهم‬ 71. 9 .‫والنكار‬ ً ‫ شا‬،‫سا تائًها‬ ‫ ل‬،‫كا‬ ً ‫موسو‬ ‫دا‬ ً ‫ ول جاح‬،‫مؤمًنا مصدًقا‬ . Whosoever desires to know things which it is beyond his/her capacity. 75. or interprets it according to his own understanding . He/She will be uncertain and confused. 74. affirmation and denial and acceptance and rejection.‫والستسلم‬ ‫فمن رام علم ما حظر‬ ‫ ولم يقنع‬،‫عنه علمه‬ ‫ حجبه‬،‫بالتسليم فهمه‬ ‫مرامه عن خالص‬ ‫ وصافي‬،‫التوحيد‬ ‫ وصحيح‬،‫المعرفة‬ . It is invalid for those who will enter paradise to believe that they will see Allah if they imagine what it is like. true faith and correct belief. being neither a submitting believer nor a denying rejector . devious and doubtful. 73. One’s foot will not be safe in Islam unless it is based on submission and surrender .

was taken by night.‫التنـزيه‬ ‫فإن ربنا جل وعل‬ ‫موصوف بصفات‬ ‫الوحدانية‬ ‫منعوت بنعوت‬ ‫ ليس في‬. Al-Mi'raaj (the ascending through the heavens) is true. Whosoever does not avoid negating the attributes of Allah. or likening Allah to humans. the meaning of any thing which pertain to the realm of Lordship.‫وعليه دين المسلمين‬ 76. then indeed has gone astray and has missed the correct belief in Allah.‫الفردانية‬ ‫معناه أحد من البرية‬ ‫وتعالى عن الحدود‬ ‫ والركان‬،‫والغايات‬ ‫والعضاء والدوات‬ ‫ل تحويه الجهات الست‬ ‫كسائر المبتدعات‬ ‫ وقد‬،‫والمعراج حق‬ ‫ُأسري بالنبي صلى الله‬ ‫عليه وآله وسلم‬ 79. Because the interpretation of this seeing' but indeed. 81. nor limbs. 80. Nor is He contained by the six directions as all created things are . He is clear of being attributed with having limits. The Prophet. Indeed. 78. nor having parts. Absolute uniqueness and no creation is in any way like Him . our Lord. nor organs. 77. The Exalted. is only be attributed with the attributes of Oneness.‫التأويل ولزوم التسليم‬ . is by avoiding its interpretation and strictly adhering to the submission. nor ends. 1 . 83. ‫ومن لم يتوق النفي‬ ‫ زل ولم يصب‬،‫والتشبيه‬ . And this is the basis of the religion of Muslims .‫إذ كان تأويل الرؤية‬ ‫وتأويل كل معنى يضاف‬ ‫إلى الربوبية بترك‬ . 82.

85. Ash-Shafa'ah. 1 . 87. The pledge which Allah took from Adam Alayhi As Salaam and his offspring' is true . (the Basin.‫من العل‬ ‫بما شاء‬ "‫وأوحى إليه ما أوحى‬ َ ‫ف‬ "‫ما َرَأى‬ ُ ْ ‫ب ال‬ َ َ ‫ما ك َذ‬ َ ُ ‫ؤاد‬ َ 84. To whatever honorable place in heaven Allah willed for him. Allah blessed him and granted him peace in this world and in the Hereafter. while awake. Al-Hawd. Allah honored (the prophet in this journey) in the way that He willed. through the heavens. is true. and revealed to him what He willed. 86. (the intercession) which is allocated to his followers is true. which Allah will grant the Prophet as an honor to quench the thirst of His followers on the Day Of Judgement). 89. And ascended in his bodily form. as related in the authentic Ahaadeeth . 90. ‫فصلى الله عليه وسلم‬ ‫في الخرة والولى‬ ‫والحوض الذي أكرمه‬ ‫ غياًثا‬، ‫الله تعالى به‬ ‫ حق‬، ‫لمته‬ ‫والشفاعة التي ادخرها‬ ‫ كما روي في‬،‫لهم حق‬ ‫الخبار‬ ‫والميثاق الذي أخذه الله‬ ‫تعالى من آدم وذريته‬ ‫حق‬ 88. {“and his heart was not mistaken about what it saw”' [the meaning of ayah 11 in surat An-Najm]}.‫وعرج بشخصه في‬ ‫اليقظة إلى السماء‬ ‫ثم إلى حيث شاء الله‬ ‫ وأكرمه الله‬.

which are done exactly as Allah knew they would be done. Those who are fortunate are fortunate by the decree of Allah. The same applies to all actions done by people. the exact number of those who would enter Paradise (Al-Jannah) and the exact number of those who would enter Hellfire (Jahannam). 97. before the existence of time. Allah eternally knew. 92. 1 . 95. and those who are wretched are wretched by the decree of Allah . This number is not subject to increase nor decrease . 93. ‫والعمال بالخواتيم‬ ‫والسعيد من سعد‬ ‫ والشقي‬،‫بقضاء الله‬ ‫من شقي بقضاء الله‬ ‫وأصل القدر سر الله‬ ‫تعالى في خلقه‬ ‫لم يطلع على ذلك ملك‬ ‫مقرب ول نبي مرسل‬ 96. Everyone is facilitated to what he was created for . The exact nature of the decree is Allah's secret in His creation. The exact nature of the decree of Allah onto His creation is not known to the creation.‫وقد علم الله تعالى‬ ‫فيما لم يزل عدد من‬ ‫ وعدد من‬،‫يدخل الجنة‬ ‫يدخل النار جملة‬ ‫ فل يزداد في‬،‫واحدة‬ ‫ ول ينقص‬،‫ذلك العدد‬ ‫منه‬ ‫وكذلك أفعالهم فيما‬ ‫علم منهم أن يفعلوه‬ ‫خلق له‬ ُ ‫وكل ميسر لما‬ 91. The final deeds that one’s life end with. No high ranking angel. dictates his fate. nor a messenger. has been given knowledge of it . 94.

One should exercise extreme caution about attempting to encompass this matter. 103. 106. and who rejects the judgement of the Book becomes an unbeliever ‫فهذا جملة ما يحتاج إليه‬ ‫من هو منور قلبه من‬ ‫أولياء الله تعالى‬ ‫وهي درجة الراسخين‬ ‫في العلم‬ 105. 99. ayah 23. 104. which means: “He is not asked about what He does but they are asked'. Allah has kept knowledge of the decree away from his creation. 102. 100. This in sum is what the pious worshippers of Allah with enlightened hearts need to know.‫والتعمق والنظر في‬ ،‫ذلك ذريعة الخذلن‬ ‫ ودرجة‬،‫وسلم الحرمان‬ ‫الطغيان‬ ‫فالحذر كل الحذر من‬ ‫ذلك نظًرا وفكًرا‬ ‫ووسوسة‬ ‫فإن الله تعالى طوى‬ ‫علم القدر عن أنامه‬ ‫ونهاهم عن مرامه‬ ‫كما قال تعالى في كتابه‬ َ ‫" ل يسأ‬ ُ َ ‫فع‬ ُ ‫ل‬ ْ َ ‫ما ي‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ل‬ َ ْ ُ ّ َ ‫و هم ي‬ "‫ن‬ َ ‫سأُلو‬ ْ ُ ْ ُ َ ‫ لم فعل؟‬: ‫فمن سأل‬ ‫فقد رد حكم الكتاب‬ ‫ومن رد حكم الكتاب‬ ‫كان من الكافرين‬ 98. which constitutes the degree of those firmly endowed with knowledge. 1 . 101. and loss. As He said in Surat Al-Anbiya’. anyone who asks: "Why did Allah do that?" has gone against a judgement of the Book. or letting doubts about it assail you . humiliation. Therefore. Whosoever asks: `Why did Allah do that?' has gone against a judgement of the Book. And forbidden them to attempt to encompass it. Deep indulgance in attempting to encompass how things are decreed. only leads to confusion.

We believe in Al-Lawh (The Sacred Tablet) and Al-Qalam (The Pen) and in everything written on the Tablet .‫ علم‬:‫لن العلم علمان‬ ،‫في الخلق موجود‬ ‫وعلم في الخلق مفقود‬ ‫فإنكار العلم الموجود‬ ‫ وادعاء العلم‬،‫كفر‬ ‫المفقود كفر‬ ‫ول يثبت اليمان إل‬ ،‫بقبول العلم الموجود‬ ‫وترك طلب العلم‬ . they would not be able to do so. 109. and knowledge which is not accessible to created beings. If all created beings were to gather together to make something fail to exist. 110. whose existence Allah had written.‫يقدروا عليه‬ ‫ولو اجتمعوا كلهم على‬ ‫شيء لم يكتبه الله‬ ‫ ليجعلوه كائًنا‬،‫تعالى فيه‬ ‫لم يقدروا عليه‬ 112. and claiming the knowledge which is inaccessible is disbelief. Belief can only be firmly established. For there are two kinds of knowledge: knowledge which is accessible to created beings.‫المفقود‬ ‫ونؤمن باللوح والقلم‬ ‫وبجميع ما فيه قد ُرقم‬ 107. Denying the knowledge which is accessible is disbelief. And if all created beings were to gather together to make something exist which Allah had not written on it. 111. when accessible knowledge is accepted and inaccessible knowledge is not sought after . they would not be able to do so . 1 . ‫فلو اجتمع الخلق كلهم‬ ‫على شيء كتبه الله‬ ،‫ن‬ ٌ ‫تعالى فيه أنه كائ‬ ‫ليجعلوه غير كائن –لم‬ . 108.

116. decreases it. It is necessary for the worshipper to know that Allah eternally knew everything that is going to happen in His creation . changes it. adds to it. which means: `He created everything and decreed it he a detailed way'. 119.‫جف القلم بما هو كائن‬ ‫ وما‬،‫إلى يوم القيامة‬ ‫أخطأ العبد لم يكن‬ ‫ وما أصابه لم‬،‫ليصيبه‬ ‫يكن ليخطئه‬ ‫وعلى العبد أن يعلم أن‬ ‫الله قد سبق علمه في‬ ‫كل كائن من خلقه‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫فقدر ذلك تقديًرا محك‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫مبر‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ليس فيه ناقض‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ ول مزيل‬،‫معقب‬ ‫ ول ناقص ول زائد‬،‫مغير‬ ‫من خلقه في سماواته‬ ‫وأرضه‬ ،‫وذلك من عقد اليمان‬ ‫وأصول المعرفة‬ ‫والعتراف بتوحيد الله‬ ،‫تعالى وربوبيته‬ ‫كما قال تعالى في‬ ّ ُ ‫خل َقَ ك‬ َ ‫ل‬ ‫يٍء‬ َ َ‫كتاب "و‬ ْ ‫ش‬ "‫ديًرا‬ ْ َ ‫قد َّرهُ ت‬ َ َ‫ف‬ ِ ‫ق‬ 113. or increases it in any way . The Pen has dried having written down all that will be in existence until the Day of Judgement. 118. There is nothing that He has created in either the heavens or the earth that can contradicts it. And recognition of Allah's oneness and Lordship. he/she would have never missed . and whatever one gets. erases it. [al-Furqan 2] 1 . 115. As Allah said in His Book. 117. Whatever a person has missed he/she would have never met. This is a fundamental aspect of belief and an essential element of all knowledge including the Tawheed of Allah. Allah’s decree is detailed and final. 114.

123. 128. He (Allah Ta’ala) is in no need of AlArsh or anything other than Al-Arsh. [Al-Ah’zaab38] 121. Al-'Arsh and Al-Kursi are true . And He also says. Woe to anyone who becomes the emeny of Allah concerning the decree. acceptance and submission: that Allah took Ibrahim as friend and that He spoke to Musa . 129. And he/she ends up in delusions and fiction leading him/her to fabricate lies and commit evil . 124. which means: `Allah's command is always a decided decree'. 126. And what He has created is incapable of encompassing Him. He is All-Knowing of all things. 127. We say with belief. And who illheartedly attempts to encompass it. 122. 125.َ ‫كا‬ ‫مُر‬ َ َ َ‫وقال تعالى "و‬ ْ ‫نأ‬ ‫دوًرا‬ ْ ‫م‬ ُ ‫ق‬ ّ ‫الل ّهِ قَد ًَرا‬ ‫فويل لمن صار لله‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫تعالى في القدر خصي‬ ‫وأحضر للنظر فيه قلًبا‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫سقي‬ ‫لقد التمس بوهمه في‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫فحص الغيب سًرا كتي‬ ً ‫وعاد بما قال فيه أفا‬ ‫كا‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫أثي‬ ‫والعرش والكرسي حق‬ ‫وهو مستغن عن‬ ‫العرش وما دونه‬ ‫محيط بكل شيء‬ ‫وفوقه‬ ‫وقد أعجز عن الحاطة‬ ‫خلقه‬ ‫ إن الله اتخذ‬:‫ونقول‬ ‫ وكلم الله‬،‫إبراهيم خليًل‬ ‫ إيماًنا‬،‫ما‬ ً ‫موسى تكلي‬ ‫ما‬ ً ‫وتصدي‬ ً ‫قا وتسلي‬ 120. 1 . and is superior to it . It is a delusional attempt to investigate the Unseen.

And we bear witness that they were all following the manifest Truth . We do not indulge into ignorant talk about Allah nor do we ignorantly dispute religious issues.‫ونؤمن بالملئكة‬ ‫والنبيين‬ ‫والكتب المنـزلة على‬ ‫المرسلين‬ ‫ونشهد أنهم كانوا على‬ ‫الحق المبين‬ ‫ونسمي أهل قبلتنا‬ ‫مسلمين مؤمنين‬ ‫ما داموا بما جاء به‬ ‫النبي صلى الله عليه‬ ،‫وسلم معترفين‬ ‫وله بكل ما قاله وأخبر‬ ‫مصدقين‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ول نخوض في الله‬ ‫نماري في دين الله‬ 130. As long as they acknowledge what the Prophet. We bear witness that (the Qur’an) it is the Word of The Lord of the Worlds. sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And accept it as true and everything that he said and told us about . We believe in the angels. and we do not ignorantly discuss or interpret the Qur’an . may Allah bless him and grant him peace. 134. 1 . Which the Trustworthy Angel Gabriel came down with and taught the most honored of all the Messengers. 135. 137. 133. 131. We call the people of our qiblah (direction and faith) Muslims and believers . the Prophets. And the Books which were revealed to the messengers. brought . 132. 136. ،‫ول نجادل في القرآن‬ ‫ونشهد أنه كلم رب‬ ‫العالمين‬ ،‫نـزل به الروح المين‬ ‫فعلمه سيد المرسلين‬ ‫دا صلى الله عليه‬ ً ‫محم‬ ‫وعلى آله وسلم‬ 138. Muhammad.

Certainty and despair both lead to exiting the folds of islam. It is the Word of Allah and no word of any created being is comparable to it. (granted they are on the truth) 141. 1 . We ask forgiveness for the people who do wrong deeds and. as long as they do not consider that action to have been lawful . We do not consider any of the people of our qiblah (any Muslim) to be unbelievers because of any wrong action they have done. and we do not go against the Jama'ah of the Muslims. Nor do we say that evil deeds do not have harmful effects on one’s belief status . 140. We do not say that it was created. we care for them. ‫ ل يضر مع‬:‫ول نقول‬ ‫اليمان ذنب لمن عمله‬ ‫ونرجو للمحسنين من‬ ‫المؤمنين أن يعفو عنهم‬ ،‫ويدخلهم الجنة برحمته‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ول نأمن عليهم‬ ‫نشهد لهم بالجنة‬ ،‫ونستغفر لمسيئهم‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ونخاف عليهم‬ ‫نقنطهم‬ ‫والمن والياس ينقلن‬ ‫عن ملة السلم‬ 143. We hope that Allah will pardon the pious believers and grant them entrance into Paradise by His Mercy. nevertheless. 144. nor can we bear that they will enter Paradise. but we cannot be certain of this. 145. and do not despair them. 142.‫وهو كلم الله تعالى ل‬ ‫يساويه شيء من كلم‬ ‫المخلوقين‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ول نقول بخلقه‬ ‫نخالف جماعة‬ ‫المسلمين‬ ‫دا من أهل‬ ً ‫ول نكفر أح‬ ‫ ما لم‬،‫القبلة بذنب‬ ‫يستحله‬ 139.

regarding the Shari'ah and the explanation (of the Qur'an and of Islam) are true. A Muslim does not exist from the circle of Islam except by disbelieving in what brought him/her into it . Belief is. the same.‫وسبيل الحق بينهما‬ ‫لهل القبلة‬ 146. But the path of truth for the people of the qiblah(Believers) lies between the two (e. 148.g. Faith (belief) is affirmation by the tongue and believing in the heart and mind . They vary in ranks due to the variation in their pious worship to Allah. ‫ول يخرج العبد من‬ ‫اليمان إل بجحود ما‬ ‫أدخله فيه‬ ‫ هو القرار‬:‫واليمان‬ ‫ والتصديق‬،‫باللسان‬ ‫بالجنان‬ ‫وجميع ما صح عن‬ ‫رسول الله صلى الله‬ ‫عليه وعلى آله وسلم‬ ‫من الشرع والبيان كله‬ ‫حق‬ ‫واليمان واحد وأهله في‬ ،‫أصله سواء‬ ‫والتفاضل بينهم‬ ،‫بالخشية والتقى‬ ،‫ومخالفة الهوى‬ ‫وملزمة الولى‬ 147. 149. 151. 150. and prioritizing duties and deeds . 1 . upon him be peace. a person must fear and be conscious of Allah's reckoning as well as be hopeful of Allah's mercy). at the essence. All believers are the same as far as the fundamentals of faith. And all the authentic traditions from the Prophet. their rejection of ill-desires. However.

the Last Day. His Books. 154. provided they die on Tawheed. we accept as true what all of them brought. who have committed grave sins will be in the Hellfire. His Messengers. 157. but not everlastingly. Those of the Ummah of Muhammad. 2 . and belief that the Decree . the sweet of it and the bitter or it is all from Allah. Belief consists of belief in Allah.‫والمؤمنون كلهم أولياء‬ ‫ وأكرمهم عند‬،‫الرحمن‬ ‫الله أطوعهم وأتبعهم‬ ‫للقرآن‬ ‫ هو اليمان‬:‫واليمان‬ ،‫ ورسله‬،‫ وملئكته‬،‫بالله‬ :‫ والقدر‬،‫واليوم الخر‬ ‫ وحلوه‬،‫خيره وشره‬ ‫ من الله تعالى‬،‫ومره‬ ‫ونحن مؤمنون بذلك كله‬ ‫ل نفرق بين أحد من‬ ‫ ونصدقهم كلهم‬،‫رسله‬ ‫على ما جاءوا به‬ ‫وأهل الكبائر من أمة‬ ‫محمد صلى الله عليه‬ ‫وعلى آله وسلم في‬ ،‫النار ل يخلدون‬ ‫إذا ماتوا وهم موحدون‬ ،‫وإن لم يكونوا تائبين‬ ‫بعد أن لقوا الله عارفين‬ "‫"مؤمنين‬ ‫وهم في مشيئته‬ ،‫وحكمه‬ 152. and go to Allah as believers even if they have not repented. We do not make any distinction between any of His messengers. They are subject to His will and judgement. We believe in all these things. 155. 158. All the believers are “awliya” (loyals to) of Allah and the most noble of them to Allah are those who are the most obedient and who most closely follow the Qur'an . 156. 153.both the good of it and the bad of it. His Angels. may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

You are the Protector of Islam and its people. and send them to the paradise. He will punish them in the Fire out of His justice. ayah 116] 160. and for the intercession of those who were obedient to Him. 163. 162.‫إن شاء غفر لهم عفا‬ ‫ كما ذكر‬،‫عنهم بفضله‬ " ‫عز وجل في كتابه‬ َ ِ ‫ن ذ َل‬ ‫من‬ ِ ْ‫وَي َغ‬ َ ‫ما ُدو‬ َ ِ‫ك ل‬ َ ‫فُر‬ َ َ‫ي‬ " ‫شاء‬ ‫وإن شاء عذبهم في‬ ‫النار بعدله‬ ‫ثم يخرجهم منها برحمته‬ ‫وشفاعة الشافعين من‬ ‫أهل طاعته ثم يبعثهم‬ ‫إلى جنته‬ ‫وذلك بأن الله تعالى‬ ،‫تولى أهل معرفته‬ ‫ولم يجعلهم في الدارين‬ ‫ الذين‬،‫كأهل نكرته‬ ‫ ولم‬،‫خابوا من هدايته‬ ‫ينالوا من وليته‬ ‫ي السلم‬ ّ ‫اللهم يا ول‬ ‫ ثبتنا على السلم‬،‫وأهله‬ ‫حتى نلقاك به‬ 159. If He wants. 164. if He wants. He will forgive them and pardon them out of His generosity. make us firm in Islam until the day we meet You. 161. as is mentioned in the Qur'an : which means: “And He forgives anything less than that (blasphemy) to whoever He will” [Surat An-Nisa' . O Allah. And will not treat them in this world nor in the Hereafter the same way as He treats those who deny Him and who have lost out on His guidance and have failed to obtain His protection. 2 . This is because Allah is the Protector of those who know Him. And then bring them out of it by His mercy.

We do not recognize rebellions (transgressors) against our (righteously qualified and appointed) Caliphate or those in charge of our affairs even though they may act unjustly. 166. We leave their hidden characters to Allah Ta’ala. disbelief (associating anything with Allah). and we do not accuse any of them of blasphemy (kufr).‫ونرى الصلة خلف كل‬ ‫بّر وفاجر من أهل‬ ‫القبلة وعلى من مات‬ ‫منهم‬ ‫دا منهم‬ ً ‫ول ننـزل أح‬ ‫جنة ول ناًرا‬ ‫ول نشهد عليهم بكفر‬ ‫ ما‬،‫ول بشرك ول بنفاق‬ ‫لم يظهر منهم شيء‬ ‫من ذلك‬ ‫ونذر سرائرهم إلى الله‬ ‫تعالى‬ ‫ول نرى السيف على‬ ‫أحد من أمة محمد‬ ‫صلى الله عليه وعلى‬ ‫آله وسلم إل من وجب‬ ‫عليه السيف‬ ‫ول نرى الخروج على‬ ‫أئمتنا وولة أمورنا وإن‬ ‫جاروا‬ ‫ ول‬، ‫ول ندعو عليهم‬ ‫دا من طاعتهم‬ ً ‫ننـزع ي‬ 165. 168. 171. We do not wish them evil. and doing the funeral prayer over any of them when they die . except those who deserve it according to the Law (Shari'ah). as long as they have not openly demonstrated any of those things. or hypocrisy (nifaaq). 167. We do not declare anyone of them will categorically go to either paradise or Hellfire. We lean to validate doing the prayer behind any of the people of the qiblah (Muslims) whether pious or sinful. 170. 2 . We do not approve of the killing any human of the Ummah of Muhammad. 169. nor do we refuse to obey them.

173. as has come in the ahaadeeth . partitions and divisions 175. 177. we say: `Allah knows best' . We hold that obedience to them is part of obedience to Allah. When our knowledge about something is unclear.‫ونرى طاعتهم من‬ ‫طاعة الله عز وجل‬ ‫ ما لم يأمروا‬،‫فريضة‬ ‫بمعصية‬ ‫وندعو لهم بالصلح‬ ‫والمعافاة‬ ،‫ونتبع السنة والجماعة‬ ‫ونجتنب الشذوذ‬ ‫والخلف والفرقة‬ ‫ونحب أهل العدل‬ ‫ ونبغض أهل‬،‫والمانة‬ ‫الجور والخيانة‬ ‫ فيما‬،‫ الله أعلم‬:‫ونقول‬ ‫اشتبه علينا علمه‬ ‫ونرى المسح على‬ ‫ في السفر‬،‫الخفين‬ ‫ كما جاء في‬،‫والحضر‬ ‫الثر‬ 172. We follow the pathway of the Prophet and the Jama'ah (righteous group of Muslims). We pray to Allah that He guides and forgives them 174. and dislike the people of tyranny. and avoid deviation. The Exalted. injustice and betrayal 176. We approve wiping over (boots or leather socks -in ablution-) whether traveling or when at home. We love the people of justice and trustworthiness. 2 . and therefore obligatory as long as they do not order to commit sins.

and in the questioning in the grave by Munkar and Nakir about one's Lord. Nothing can suspend or nullify them . may Allah be pleased with them . We believe in the punishment in the grave for those who are deserve it. for Allah has appointed them guardians over us . and as reported by the Companions.‫والحج والجهاد ماضيان‬ ‫مع أولي المر من‬ ‫ برهم‬:‫المسلمين‬ ‫ إلى قيام‬،‫وفاجرهم‬ ‫ ل يبطلهما‬،‫الساعة‬ ‫شيء ول ينقضهما‬ ،‫ونؤمن بالكرام الكاتبين‬ ‫فإن الله قد جعلهم‬ ‫علينا حافظين‬ ،‫ونؤمن بملك الموت‬ ‫الموكل بقبض أرواح‬ ‫العالمين‬ ‫وبعذاب القبر لمن كان‬ ‫ وسؤال منكر‬،‫له أهًل‬ ‫ونكير في قبره عن ربه‬ ‫ على ما‬،‫ودينه ونبيه‬ ‫جاءت به الخبار عن‬ ‫رسول الله صلى الله‬ ،‫عليه وعلى آله وسلم‬ ‫وعن الصحابة رضوان‬ ‫الله عليهم‬ 178. are a continuing obligations until the Last Hour comes. as has come down in the ahaadeeth from the Messenger of Allah. We believe in the Angel of Death who is commissioned with taking the souls of everyone . may Allah bless him and grant him peace. one's religion and one's prophet. 2 . 179. 180. whether they are pious or evil-doers. Hajj and jihad under the leadership of those in charge of the Muslims. 181. We believe in the noble angels who are commissioned to record whatever we utter or do.

We believe in the resurrection and the accounablility for our deeds on the Day of Judgement.‫والقبر روضة من رياض‬ ‫ أو حفرة من‬،‫الجنة‬ ‫حفر النيران‬ ‫ونؤمن بالبعث وجزاء‬ ،‫العمال يوم القيامة‬ ،‫والعرض والحساب‬ ‫ والثواب‬،‫وقراءة الكتاب‬ ‫ والصراط‬،‫والعقاب‬ ‫والميزان‬ ،‫والجنة والنار مخلوقتان‬ ‫دا ول تبيدان‬ ً ‫ل تفنيان أب‬ ‫وأن الله تعالى خلق‬ ،‫الجنة والنار قبل الخلق‬ ‫وخلق لهما أهًل‬ ‫فمن شاء منهم إلى‬ ‫ ومن‬. the punishment. 2 . 184. Allah created both Paradise and Hellfire. They will never perish nor come to an end . Both Paradise and Hellfire are created. Everybody acts in accordance with what is written for him/her in the Preserved Tablet and goes towards what he/she has been created for . Whoever He wills enters Paradise out of His Generosity and whoever He wills enters Hellfire out of His justice. The grave is either one of the meadows of Paradise or one of the ditches of the Hellfire . We believe in the presentation of deeds. 183.‫الجنة فضًل منه‬ ‫شاء منهم إلى النار‬ ‫عدًل منه‬ ‫وكل يعمل لما قد فرغ‬ ‫ وصائر إلى ما خلق‬،‫له‬ ‫له‬ ‫والخير والشر مقدران‬ ‫على العباد‬ 182. the reading of everyone’s record. accounting. 185. the pathway (0ver Hellfire). and the scale (of the deeds) . 187. the reward. Good and evil have both been decreed for people. before the creatures and then created those who will dwell therein.

yet they acquired them (due to the created capacities and faculties Allah gave us). It cannot be attributed to creatures. This type of ability precedes a specific action. 2. It is as Allah Ta’ala said [in Surat Al-Baqara ayah 286 which means: “Allah does not burden a person beyond its capacities”. ‫ولم يكلفهم الله تعالى‬ ‫إل ما يطيقون ول‬ ‫يطيقون إل ما كلفهم‬ 2 . and the use of body organs. Allah. has only charged people with what they are capable of doing. as they have no control over it. It is always connected with a specific action and does not exist before the action. and people are enabled to do what Allah has charged them with . ،‫وأفعال العباد خلق الله‬ ‫وكسب من العباد‬ 190.‫والستطاعة التي يجب‬ ‫ من نحو‬،‫بها الفعل‬ ‫التوفيق الذي ل يجوز‬ ‫أن يوصف المخلوق به‬ ‫ وأما‬،‫–فهي مع الفعل‬ ‫الستطاعة من جهة‬ ،‫الصحة والوسع‬ ‫والتمكن وسلمة اللت‬ ‫ وبها‬،‫–فهي قبل الفعل‬ ‫ وهو‬،‫يتعلق الخطاب‬ ‫ف‬ ُ ّ ‫كما قال تعالى "ل َ ي ُك َل‬ ‫سعََها‬ ْ َ‫ه ن‬ ْ ُ‫سا إ ِل ّ و‬ ً ‫ف‬ ُ ّ ‫الل‬ 188. General Ability: due to health variety of means. A person is held responsible and accountable for all applicabale commands if he/she has this ability. the Exalted. Tawfeeq: Which is Grace from Allah that enables a person to carry out a command or to obstain from something forbidden. 189. access to them. And the actions of people are a creation of Allah. The Ability or capability to do something is of two kinds: 1.

194.‫ "ل حول‬:‫وهو تفسير‬ . His will dominates those of others. and is clear of imperfection or flaw. He does whatever He wills and He is never unjust . His knowledge. 193. His decree and destination.' We add to this that no one can avoid or escape sins except with the help of Allah. No one has any power at all to carry out an act of obedience to Allah and to remain steadfast on it. and His decree overpowers the plannings of all others. {“He is not be asked about what He does but they will be asked” [the meaning of ayah 23. And what we have just established is the meaning of the phrase: `There is no power and no strength except by Allah. He is clear of any evil or injustice. in surat Al-Anbiya’]} 2 . except by the grace of Allah 192. Everything happens according to the will of Allah. "‫ول قوة إل بالله‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ ل حيلة لحد‬:‫نقول‬ ‫حركة لحد ول تحول‬ ‫لحد عن معصية الله إل‬ ‫ ول قوة‬،‫بمعونة الله‬ ‫لحد على إقامة طاعة‬ ‫الله والثبات عليها إل‬ ‫بتوفيق الله‬ ‫وكل شيء يجري‬ ‫بمشيئة الله تعالى‬ ، ‫وعلمه وقضائه وقدره‬ ‫غلبت مشيئته المشيئات‬ ‫ وغلب قضاؤه‬، ‫كلها‬ ‫الحيل كلها‬ ‫يفعل ما يشاء وهو غير‬ ‫ تقدس عن‬،‫دا‬ ً ‫ظالم أب‬ ‫ وتنـزه‬،‫كل سوء وحين‬ ‫عن كل عيب وشين‬ َ ‫"ل يسأ‬ ُ َ ‫فع‬ ُ ‫ل‬ ْ َ ‫ما ي‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ل‬ ْ ُ ّ َ َ "‫ن‬ َ ‫سأُلو‬ ْ ُ‫م ي‬ ْ ُ‫وَه‬ 191.

And Allah Ta’ala. even for a blink of an eye. Nothing can be needless of Allah even for one blink of an eye. 196. 202. 198. 197. but not in the same way as any creature ‫ونحب أصحاب رسول‬ ‫الله صلى الله عليه‬ ‫وعلى آله وسلم‬ ‫ول نفرط في حب أحد‬ ‫منهم‬ ‫ول نتبرأ من أحد منهم‬ 201. 199. Allah is attributed with being angered or being pleased. Allah subjugates everything. There is benefit for dead people in the supplication and alms-giving y the living. 2 . becomes blasphemer and perishes 200. 203. but we do not go to extremes in our love for any one individual among them. We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allah. and nothing can subjugate Him. nor do we disown any one of them.‫وفي دعاء الحياء‬ ‫وصدقاتهم منفعة‬ ‫للموات‬ ‫والله تعالى يستجيب‬ ‫ ويقضي‬،‫الدعوات‬ ‫الحاجات‬ ‫ ول‬،‫ويملك كل شيء‬ ‫يملكه شيء‬ ‫ول غنى عن الله تعالى‬ ‫طرفة عين‬ ‫ومن استغنى عن الله‬ ‫ فقد كفر‬،‫طرفة عين‬ ‫وصار من أهل الحين‬ ‫ ل‬،‫والله يغضب ويرضى‬ ‫كأحد من الورى‬ 195. responds to the prayers and fulfils the needs . Whosoever thinks of him/her self in no need of Allah.

and then to `Ali ibn Abi Taleb. the caliphate went first to Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq. These are the Rightly-Guided Khaliphs (Al-Khulafa ArRashidoon) and upright leaders . 2 . may Allah be pleased with him. may Allah be pleased with him. 205. Loving them is a sign of faith. then to `Umar ibn Al-Khattab. We dislike those who despise them or talk of them righteously. thus proving his excellence and advancement over the rest of the Muslims. after passing away of the Prophet.‫المهتدون‬ 204. We confirm that. then to `Uthman.، ‫ونبغض من يبغضهم‬ ، ‫وبغير الخير يذكرهم‬ ‫ول نذكرهم إل بخير‬ ‫وحبهم دين وإيمان‬ ‫ وبغضهم كفر‬،‫وإحسان‬ ‫ونفاق وطغيان‬ ‫ونثبت الخلفة بعد‬ ‫رسول الله صلى الله‬ :‫عليه وعلى آله وسلم‬ ‫أوًل لبي بكر الصديق‬ ‫ تفضيًل‬،‫رضي الله عنه‬ ‫ما على جميع‬ ً ‫له وتقدي‬ ‫ ثم لعمر بن‬،‫المة‬ ‫الخطاب رضي الله‬ ‫ ثم لعثمان رضي‬،‫عنه‬ ‫ ثم لعلي بن‬،‫الله عنه‬ ‫أبي طالب رضي الله‬ ‫ وهم الخلفاء‬، ‫عنه‬ ‫الراشدون والئمة‬ . 206. We only speak well of them. and hatred for them is nothing but blasphemy. hypocrisy and tyranny . may Allah be pleased with him. may Allah be pleased with him. sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. conviction and piety.

sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Tal’hah. 207b. as the Messenger of Allah. and who were promised the Garden by him. as the Messenger of Allah. We bear witness that the ten who were named by the Messenger of Allah. `Uthman. will be in the Garden. 3 . Zubayr. will be in Paradise. Sa'd. whose word is truth. sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.‫وأن العشرة الذين‬ ‫سماهم رسول الله‬ ‫صلى الله عليه وعلى‬ ‫آله وسلم وبشرهم‬ ‫ على ما شهد‬،‫بالجنة‬ ‫لهم رسول الله صلى‬ ‫الله عليه وعلى آله‬ ،‫ وقوله الحق‬،‫وسلم‬ ،‫ وعمر‬، ‫ أبو بكر‬: ‫وهم‬ ،‫ وعلي‬،‫وعثمان‬ ،‫ وسعد‬،‫ والزبير‬،‫وطلحة‬ ‫ وعبد الرحمن‬،‫وسعيد‬ ‫ وأبو عبيدة‬،‫بن عوف‬ ‫بن الجراح وهو أمين‬ ‫ رضي الله‬،‫هذه المة‬ ‫عنهم أجمعين‬ 207a. and were promised Paradise. The ten are: Abu Bakr. Umar. bore witness that they would be. whose word is truth. bore witness that they would be. `Ali. may Allah be pleased with all of them . peace be upon him. `Abdur-Rahman ibn `Awf and Abu `Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarrah whose title was the trustee of this Ummah. Sa'eed. may Allah bless him and grant him peace. We testify that those ten who were named by the Messenger of Allah.

alayhem assalam. or in the filed of jurisprudence and analysis. sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.‫ومن أحسن القول في‬ ‫أصحاب رسول الله‬ ‫صلى الله عليه وعلى‬ ‫ وأزواجه‬،‫آله وسلم‬ ‫الطاهرات من كل‬ ‫ وذرياته‬،‫دنس‬ ‫المقدسين من كل‬ ‫رجس؛ فقد برئ من‬ ‫النفاق‬ ‫وعلماء السلف من‬ ‫ ومن بعدهم‬،‫السابقين‬ ‫من التابعين –أهل الخير‬ ‫ وأهل الفقه‬،‫والثر‬ ‫ ل يذكرون إل‬-‫والنظر‬ ‫ ومن ذكرهم‬،‫بالجميل‬ ‫بسوء فهو على غير‬ ‫السبيل‬ ‫دا من‬ ً ‫ول نفضل أح‬ ‫الولياء على أحد من‬ ،‫النبياء عليهم السلم‬ ‫ نبي واحد أفضل‬:‫ونقول‬ ‫من جميع الولياء‬ 208. Whosoever speaks well of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah. but rather we say that any one of the Prophets is better than all the pious scholars (awliya') put together . should be mentioned except in a proper way. 3 . 210. is then absolved from hypocrisy. Whoever speaks unjustly of them is not on the right path . 209. We do not give preference to any of the pious scholar (waliy) over any of the Prophets. No one among the early scholars and those who followed them. and his purified wives and his honorable and pure offspring. whether in the field of narrating ahaadeeth and events.

‫ونؤمن بما جاء من‬ ‫ وصح عن‬،‫كراماتهم‬ ‫الثقات من رواياتهم‬ ‫ونؤمن بأشراط‬ ‫ من خروج‬:‫الساعة‬ ‫الدجال‬ ‫ونزول عيسى ابن مريم‬ ‫عليه السلم من السماء‬ ‫ونؤمن بطلوع الشمس‬ ‫من مغربها‬ ‫وخروج دابة الرض من‬ ‫موضعها‬ ‫ول نصدق كاهًنا ول‬ ‫عراًفا‬ ‫ول من يدعي شيًئا‬ ‫يخالف الكتاب والسنة‬ ‫وإجماع المة‬ ‫قا‬ ً ‫ونرى الجماعة ح‬ ‫ والفرقة زيًغا‬،‫وصواًبا‬ ‫وعذاًبا‬ ‫ودين الله في الرض‬ ‫ وهو دين‬،‫والسماء واحد‬ ‫السلم‬ 211. We do not accept as true what soothsayers and fortune-tellers say. We believe in what has been authentically reported of their Karamat (the marvels of the awliya') from trustworthy sources . and we believe in the rising of the sun from where it sets 215. 218. We agree that holding together is the true and right path and that separation is deviation and torment. peace be upon him.. 214. We believe in the signs of the Hour such as the appearance of the Antichrist (dajjal) CARRY ON. 213. 219. the Sunna. and in the emergence of the Beast from the earth.. 212. 3 . from heaven. and the consensus of the Muslim Community (umma). 217. nor do we accept the claims of those who affirm anything which goes against the Book.. 216. and the descent of `Isa ibn Maryam. There is only one religion of Allah in the heavens and the earth and that is the religion of Islam ("submission").

and to protect us from variant ideas. between the likening of Allah's attributes to creation (tashbih) and divesting Allah of attributes (ta`til). 222. ‫وبين الجبر والقدر‬ ‫وبين المن والياس‬ ‫فهذا دينًنا واعتقادًنا‬ ‫ ونحن‬. 223. with anyone who goes against what we have said and made clear. and we renounce any connection." (Al `Imran 3: 19) And He also says: "I am pleased with Islam as a religion for you. before Allah.‫ن‬ ّ ِ ‫قال الله تعالى إ‬ ‫م‬ ِ ‫ن‬ ّ ‫ال‬ ُ َ ‫سل‬ ْ ِ ‫عند َ الل ّهِ ال‬ َ ‫دي‬ ‫ت‬ ِ ‫وقال تعالى وََر‬ ُ ‫ضي‬ ‫م ِديًنا‬ َ َ ‫سل‬ ْ ِ ‫م ال‬ ُ ُ ‫ل َك‬ ‫وهو بين الغلو والتقصير‬ ‫وبين التشبيه والتعطيل‬ 220. both inwardly and outwardly." (al-Ma'ida 5: 3) 221.‫وبيناه‬ ‫ونسأل الله تعالى أن‬ ،‫يثبتنا على اليمان‬ ‫ويختم لنا به‬ ‫ويعصمنا من الهواء‬ ‫ والراء‬،‫المختلفة‬ ‫المتفرقة‬ 224. scattering opinions 3 . Islam lies between going to excess and falling short. and between sureness and despair. 225. 226.‫ظاهًرا وباطًنا‬ ‫براء إلى الله من كل‬ ‫من خالف الذي ذكرناه‬ . between determinism and freewill. We ask Allah to make us firm in our belief and seal our lives with it 227. This is our religion and it is what we believe in. Allah says: "Surely religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.

the Jahmiyya. and others like them 229. who go against the Sunna and Jama`a and have allied themselves with error. the Qadariyya. We renounce any connection with them and in our opinion they are in error and on the path of destruction. 230.‫عندنا ضلل وأردياء‬ ‫وبالله العصمة والتوفيق‬ 228. the Mu`tazila. We ask Allah to protect us from all falsehood and we ask His Grace and Favour to do all good. 3 . and evil schools of view such as those of the Mushabbiha.‫ مثل‬، ‫والمذاهب الردية‬ ،‫ والمعتزلة‬، ‫المشبهة‬ ، ‫ والجبرية‬، ‫والجهمية‬ ،‫والقدرية وغيرهم‬ ‫من الذين خالفوا السنة‬ ‫ وحالفوا‬،‫والجماعة‬ ‫الضللة‬ ‫ وهم‬، ‫ونحن منهم براء‬ . the Jabriyya.
