PRACTICE: What Does A FORMULA TELL US?

Lets look at CaCl2 and answer a few questions to help us to understand what
we are dealing with. CaCl2 is the name of the salt they put on icy roads to
make the ice melt (adding this lets ice melt even though it is colder than -4 C).

 Is this an ELEMENT or a COMPOUND? (is there only one kind of atom

(ELEMENT) or more than one (COMPOUND)? __________________

 How many different ELEMENTS are there in CaCl2?_______________

 How many ATOMS are there? ________________________
