From the ES Administration
Dear Elementary School Parents,
Yesterday’s Grade One Friendship day was a huge
success! Our Grade One students spent the day with their
friends from Papaya Academy working in teams. Some of
the activities they participated in were: drama activities,
playing musical instruments, using their IT skills, playing
sport, solving puzzles, hunting for treasure, making
movies, dancing, and working in the community garden.
With the goal for our students in their unit of inquiry being
to understand that building and maintaining relationships
takes thought, effort and sensitivity, Friendship Day was a
wonderful opportunity to make new friends and learn
together at the same time. An enormous thank you to the
Grade One parents for their tireless efforts and enthusiasm
yesterday in making Friendship Day such a great day.

Please be reminded that on Tuesday, March 15th students
will be released from school at 12:00 noon for our Student-
Led Conferences. By now you will have received a letter
from your class teacher with your child’s time and the
format of the conference. This is a great opportunity for
your child to share his / her learning, celebrate successes,
identify areas to keep working on, and set goals. We
encourage all parents to use their home languages whilst
talking with your children to encourage their bilingual
development. Should you wish to visit specialist classes,
including the CMC and the IT computer labs, please feel
free to have your child guide you there and share with you
what happens in these learning spaces.
International Day is on April 15th. We will begin the day
with our flag raising ceremony in the ES playground.
Students are invited to wear traditional costume or
international dress from their home country, the Philippines
or any other culture / country in the world to which they
are connected. Our students will also share their musical
and artistic creativity. On Thursday April 14th, in the Little
Theater, Students in ECLC (12:15pm) and Grade One
(1:30pm) will have their Music concerts. On Friday April
15th, Grade Two (9:00am), Grade Three (11:00am) and
Grade Four students (1:00pm) will have their Music
concerts in the Fine Arts Theatre. Our ES Art exhibition will
be in the Fine Arts Theater Foyer on the 14th and 15th of
April.

ES Art needs your help…….

ES art are doing weaving projects with
different classes at the moment and we
would like to ask you to have a look at
home for any ribbons or material that you
are not using. Fabric, ribbon, parcel
ribbons any length size or color will do.
Also if you have buttons, beads or cheap
costume jewelry that you no longer want
we will make use of these to decorate our
creations too. Just drop them off in the
ES Art Flex Room or art class rooms next
to the ES gym.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Re-Enrollment for SY 2011-12
The Admission Office and the individual school offices are making
plans and gathering re-enrollment data for next school year, SY 2011-
2012. Middle and High School students must indicate re-enrollment
intentions through their Course Selection form (which is done on-
line). If you have any questions about this, please contact the
individual school offices.

URGENT: If you know that your child(ren) will not be returning to ISM
for the 2011-12 school year, please inform the Admission Office as
soon as possible if you have not already done so.

We currently have very few families indicating that they will not be returning and consequently there are an
ever growing number of applicants in a WAITPOOL for possible openings. This is causing great distress and
anxiety in those families that are waiting to hear if their children will be accepted into ISM. If you are sure that
your child will be leaving ISM, please submit a Withdrawal Notification Form. The Withdrawal Notification Form
can be obtained from the Admission Office or from the ISM website: Admission tab and then click on Re-
Enrollment & Withdrawal. This will be a great help for our planning and to the many families waiting to be
admitted. Thank you.

Re-Enrollment requirements will be similar to last year and a Re-Enrollment DEPOSIT PAYMENT is not required to
reserve a space at the School for SY2011-12. However, parents are obliged to inform the School in writing,
before the second Friday of May, if their children will withdraw at the end of the academic year. There is a
WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM for such purpose and this must be submitted to the Admissions Office before
the second Friday of May of each school year. Failure to do so will lead to a deduction of US$1,000 from the
Facilities Upgrade Deposit (FUD), in compensation for having held a space for the child and thus preventing the
School from offering that space to another child prior to the summer holiday break.

The Re-Enrollment Form and other requested forms for each re-enrolling student will be available by the
beginning of April in both 'hardcopy' at the Admission Office and online on our website under Admission and Re-
Enrollment & Withdrawal.

If you do not download this information from the website then please drop by the Admission Office during office
hours (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and pick up the set of Re-Enrollment Forms. Parents may do this personally or
your child can come to the Admission Office and get the forms. If you would like to have your driver or
househelp pick up the forms, please give them a letter of authorization to collect the Re-Enrollment Forms for
your child/children.

IASAS Cultural Conventions 2011
Congratulations to our debate/forensics delegates who came
away from the competition with a bag load of IASAS medals. To
all advisors and delegates well done on an incredible effort. ISM
competed in 5 events and came home with 3 GOLD and 2
SILVER medals!

Our Dance/Drama groups led by Yek Barlongay/Vicki Close
received outstanding reviews along with standing ovations and
many positive comments on the superb performances.
At the Art/Music Convention in Jakarta ISM musicians again
performed incredibly well with a number of our individuals/
groups being selected for the showcase concert. These included
Julie Han in flute: Julie was chosen by the ISM team to present
to the Friday showcase. Others musicians selected as
outstanding by the adjudicators were:

ISM GOODWILL GYMNASTICS MEET –
SAT MARCH 5TH MS GYM
ISM wins overall team champions trophy!
ISM hosted a very successful Goodwill Gymnastics meet last
Saturday with 290 gymnasts competing. Thanks so much to all
our parent volunteers and a special thanks to Ane Preysler/
Kerrie Uytengsu for coordinating all the volunteers and for their
support with sponsors and many other aspects of this event.
Individual results will be available in the next bulletin and at the
final awards presentation of the afternoon the ISM gymnastics
team, with gymnasts in all 5 levels throughout the day, were
able to win the team overall all around trophy which is a
fantastic effort by our gymnasts and coaches. Congratulations
to our coaches and to the gymnasts.

The ISM Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Rugby and Badminton Summer
Sports Camps are open to ISM students only.
