SWOT Analysis for HTC Evo4G smartphone

a)Strengths • HTC is a leading producer of PDAs smart phones in the world. It is establishing in the world rapidly and attracting more and more customers from all around the world. • HTC has successfully introduced its brand name and has earned the good image about the product quality over the world. They are considered as reliable products and its gaining more and more success rapidly. Therefore HTC awarded as the Tech Brand of the year in the T3 Gadget Award 2010. • HTC has been understood the importance of identifying the customers needs. Therefore they have established a strong research and development unit for HTC smart phones. Through this they identified features that modern customers expect and launched the HTC Evo4g smart phone, the first 4g capable phone in USA. • • The portfolio of HTC is quite wide. It has made 42 smart phones product up to now. The customer base of HTC is also very wide as it caters the customer national and international both and the number of customers also increasing as the time passes. • Andriod OS (operating system that in HTC phones) is a famous open source operating system among smart phone users than IOS (operating system that in iPhones)

b)Weaknesses • HTC is not a very much recognized brand in the world market. Its competitors are Nokia, Blackberry, Apple, Samsung. Competitors have acquired a big market share than HTC. HTC got a very small range of cell phone models as compared to their competitors. As example Nokia, which has got a huge variety of smart phones, from cheapest to most expensive . • HTC EVO4G is not a GSM phone (CDMA) and it will not work on any GSM network worldwide. If the customer wants to get the higher benefits from this phone, he must shift to a 4g network.

c)Opportunities • According to a new market research report, Global Markets for Smart phones and PDA s, the global market for smart phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) generated • • $58.7 billion in 2008. This should increase to $153.3 billion in 2014, for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.2%. Most of the people, who use expensive cell phones, go for touch screens and HTC is providing that kind of cell phones in world wide. HTC collaborated with Google and launched their cell phones with Google Android OS install in it, their market also got increased. It is also said that, because of the name of Google, HTC got popularity. Google popularity plays a huge role in the success of HTC.

d)Threats • The major threat to HTC Evo4g phone is a very much popular and highly indemand brand, Apple iPhone. It is a big hindrance in the demand of HTC Evo4g phone. • The world financial crunch could also be the threat for the HTC Company. That’s because HTC smart phones are expensive and are not affordable for many of the smart phones users. On the other side Nokia’s smart phones are way cheaper, and are providing the same characteristics, which a smart phone should have. So lot of people prefers Nokia on HTC. • Because of the global situation, there are many scientific researches in mobile technology .So there is a potential to acquire above increasing market for smart phones.
