BASIC COMPETENCE : Telling about job and educational background in
written and spoken form.
INDICATOR : The students are able to :
- Use the correct form of verb in simple
pesent tense to show people’s job.
- Use the corect form of verb in simple past
to show people’s educational background.
- Write simple form of curriulum vitae.
- Use correct expression in explaining facts
and figures.
TIME ALLOCATION : 10 X 45 minutes
I. OBJECTIVE : At the end of the activities, the students are able to:
- Use the correct form of verb in simple
pesent tense to show people’s job.
- Use the corect form of verb in simple past
to show people’s educational background.
- Write simple form of curriulum vitae.
- Use correct expression in explaining facts
and figures.
II. TEACHING MATERIAL :

First Meeting:

Present simple

We use the simple present tense when:


the action is general
the action happens all the time, or habitually, in the past, present and future
Or we can also say:
The Simple present tense is used to explain daily activity or the activity is often done.
It can also be used to explain about general truth.

Example:
John drives a taxi. (It is John's job to drive a taxi. He does it every day.)

Telling about people’s job using the simple present tense:


- A cook prepare food.
- Pilots fly aeroplanes
- The secrectary types a letter by using a computer.
- The workers are at the factory to do their works.
- The manager leads the staff meeting.

Second Meeting:

Past simple

The simple past tense is used to show past event


Telling about people’s educational background using the simple past tense :
-She graduated from SMK Swastisari Kupang.
-The new secretary learned shorthand at the college

Example of curriculum vitae :

Third Meeting:
Expressing facts and figures

- The graph shows that population growth has been high this last
decade.
- The latest data show that about three billin rupiahs have been
spent for the construction of the factory
