1. SAFETY REGULATIONS
This equipment should only be used by a well trained personnel
instructed in the safe operation of the equipment under test.

The following instructions are to be seen as an addition to each

country or company’s local rules and regulations.

The MM200A is equipped with a mains plug having a third earth

(ground) pin. This plug will only fit into an earth (grounding) type
power outlet.
A separate earth (ground) binding post is available on the unit front

panel. Always connect the separate earth (ground) binding post
located on the front panel to earth (ground).

IMPORTANT!

ALWAYS ensure equipment is adequately grounded and test

leads are not damaged before starting test.

NEVER connect the MM200A to an external voltage source if the

protective earth (ground) is not connected.

ALWAYS turn the MM200A off before connecting to the

equipment under test.

WARNING!

UNPLUG the MM200A from the supply before cleaning. Only use
a damp cloth. Do not use any liquid cleaners aerosol cleaners.

DO NOT use auxiliary equipment not recommended by the

manufacturer - AG POWER.

DO NOT attempt to service the unit. Opening the front cover will
expose the user to dangerous voltage and other hazards.

CONTACT RESISTANCE TEST SYSTEM – MM200A

The MM200A test system is designed to automatically measure the

contact resistances of circuit breakers, disconnecting switches and
busbar joints.

With outputs currents of 100A, 200A and an optional factory preset

current, this robust, lightweight and portable unit makes an essential
tool for maintenance work.

Model : MM 200A
The MM200A is equipped with a built-in Ammeter. The Resistance is
calculated via voltage drop measurement and shown on the display.

Current injection is controlled using the variac knob.

NOTE!

The current output depends on the burden of the external circuit.

IMPORTANT!

Each unit is equipped with a built-in high temperature protection

device. Should the test equipment internal circuitry exceed 85 °C,
the output source will automatically cut off. Output source will
automatically resume when the control unit temperature
decreases below 85 °C.

Model : MM 200A
For safety purpose, should the MM200A is accidently left
unattended during current injection, the MM200A is designed to
automatically turn OFF if the injection period is longer than 2
minutes. To resume current injection, select ‘I/O’.

Note: The manufacturer and distributor shall not be liable for any
accidents or injuries caused by inappropriate or incorrect use of
this test equipment.

5. OPERATION
This equipment should only be used by a well trained personnel
instructed in the safe operation of the equipment under test.

The following instructions are to be seen as an addition to each

country or company’s rules and regulations.

1. Ensure correct connection of the current and sensing cables to

the circuit breaker or busbar joint.
2. SEL – Press ‘▲/▼’ button to select the test current (100A /
200A / Factory Preset ‘10A’ )

Model : MM 200A
3. Set the current adjustor knob to zero position.
4. I/O – Select ‘I/O’ to begin current injection.
5. Rotate variac until current value on display shows selected test
current.
6. TEST – Select ‘TEST’ to view resistance value.
7. Rotate the current adjustor knob back to zero position.
8. RST – Reset values.

The MM200A unit is designed to test resistance at only 100A / 200A /

Factory preset ‘10A’. Current injections above or below the set values
will result in an inaccurate resistance reading.

CAUTION!

Before disconnecting current cables from equipment under test,

turn current adjustor knob to zero position, push 'RST' and
switch 'OFF' the test equipment.

IMPORTANT!

Always ensure equipment is adequately grounded and test leads

are not damaged before starting test.

6. APPLICATION EXAMPLE
6.1 Testing a circuit breaker

1. Ensure that the circuit is de-energized on both sides of the

breaker before starting work.
2. Close the circuit breaker.
3. Connect the earth (ground) terminals of the MM200A to
protective earth.
4. Connect the current and sensing cables to the breaker primary
contacts.
5. Set the test current, ‘SEL’, and select ‘I/O’ to inject current up to

Model : MM 200A
test current setting. (100A / 200A / Factory Preset ‘10A’)
6. Select ‘TEST’ to retrieve the resistance value.

6.2 Testing bus-bar joints

1. Ensure that the circuit is de-energized on both sides of the bus-

bar before starting work.
2. Connect the earth (ground) terminals of the MM200A to
protective earth.
3. Connect the current cables to the each ends of the bus-bar
contacts. Do not connect the sensing cables.
4. Set the test current, ‘SEL’, and select ‘I/O’ to inject current up to
test current setting. (100A / 200A / Factory Preset ‘10A’)
5. Use an external Voltmeter to measure the voltage drop across
each contact joint of the bus-bar.
6. Stop the injection current by selecting ‘I/O’. Display will show
‘OFF’.

Calculate the resistance:-

Measured voltage drop = 9.8mVdc

Injection current = 100Adc

Resistance = 0.0098 / 100

= 98µΩ
