Section A : Directed Writing

[35 marks]

You are advised to spend about 45 minutes on this section.

Question 1

The Adventure Club of your school has made a trip to a forest reserve. As the Secretary of
the Adventure Club, write an article on the trip to be published in the school magazine.

Below are some notes you have made about the trip.

 date of trip
 location of forest reserve
 number of members who joined the trip
 number of teacher advisers accompanying
 mode of transport
 admission fee
 type of activities (state at least three activities)
 members’ opinions about the trip

When writing the article, you should remember :

- to state the purpose of the trip
- to use all the notes given
- to add two new points of your own
- to write in paragraphs
- that this is a magazine article and should be written as such.

You are advised to spend about one hour on this section.

Question 2

Write a composition of not less than 350 words on one of the following topics.

(a) The most important person in my life.

(b) Write a story beginning with :

(c) Co-curricular activities should be given more emphasis in school. Do you agree?
