DATE: 10/17/2007 SURFACE PREPARATION
Revision No. Page 3 of 4
All surfaces to be coated must be free of all oil, grease, dirt, rust, form release agents, laitance, and other contaminants to insure proper adhesion. Surface to be coated shall be in sound condition, clean and dry. Please consult with ARC Technical Representative for detailed surface preparation guidelines for each application. General or minimum surface preparation for steel and concrete are as follows: Steel: Prior to abrasive blasting remove all oil and grease and other contaminants by SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning. Blast clean surfaces using an angular, sharp abrasive for best surface profile. Remove all weld spatter and round any and all sharp edges by grinding. All bare steel shall be primed or finish coated the same day to protect and hold the blast. Immersion: SSPC-SP10 / NACE 2, with a minimum 3 mil profile Non-immersion/Atmospheric – SSPC-SP10 / NACE 2, with a minimum 3 mil profile Concrete and Masonry: SSPC-SP13 / NACE 6 CSP 3 to 5 It is recommended that a Calcium Chloride Test as per ASTM F1869 always be performed to the concrete. Do not proceed with application if Moisture Vapor Emission is greater than 3 lbs. Always use a primer prior to application of spray applied polyurea on concrete or masonry surfaces. DIRECTIONS FOR USE As indicated on current data sheet May consider adding a 50% overlap with each pass of gun to avoid holidays, pinholes and insure desired film build is achieved. When applying cross spray at 90 degree angles or in a cross hatch pattern. All coverage rates described above are calculated and estimated on volume solids and do not factor in an application loss factor. Loss factors to consider would be; surface profile irregularity, porosity of the surface, excessive roughness of surface, applicator skill and ability, material loss due to spills, mixing, expiration due to climatic conditions and irregular or excessive film build. ARC-120 shall be stored and protected from moisture contamination. Store pails and drums in a dry, protected location at 60F to 90F (16C to 32C). Drums and pails must be kept sealed at all times. It is recommended that a positive feed dry air, nitrogen blanket or desiccant cartridge system be used. All material shall be maintained a minimum 50F (10C) in their original containers. Containers shall not be opened until ready for immediate use. To avoid air entrapment, undue agitation of pails or drums shall be avoided. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Always refer to MSDS prior to use.
