Mission Update – A key focus of our mission work in Cubulco has been the
translation of scripture in the Achi language, especially the Old Testament. We took this work upon ourselves because other translation organizations would not consider this project since the New Testament was translated already before we arrived on the scene. At the moment we have seven people involved in the translation work, five directly in the translation and two as promoters. Two years ago the translation team was given greater responsibilities and with the shuffling of management and oversight duties they took ownership and came up with an ambitious plan of action, finish translating the Old Testament by the end of 2013. As of December 31 2010 the report is that they have achieved 95% of their goal for the year. Can they finish the translation by 2014? Please pray that the Lord will sustain our translators so that they can maintain their zeal and energy and commitment to see their task completed.
