Where Is The Promise Of His Coming? Pt.1

2 Peter 3:1-12 (1-7)
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. These scoffers walking in their own lust addresses Christians. Their own lust speaks to them casting aside the light and walking in the flesh (lust of the flesh). Therefore, Peter the Apostle was speaking directly to the church at that time addressing what awaits them; leaders in the church deny the truth and perverting the Word of God and by extension the church of God. These believers span the circuit which Apostle Paul, and other disciple which served in this ministry. These letters went to the strangers scattered across Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia (1Peter 1:1). 2 Peter 3:15-16 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. So therefore, as the Apostle sought to accomplish when the epistle was written, in like manner I seek to accomplish: to stir you up your minds. As 2

was prophecy has been revealed in the past century and is quite evident today with increasing amount of religious movements with increasing amount of damnable heresy·s, perverting the Word of God. These include the growing business of healing ministry (prayer clothe, special oils, teas & other related acts); the prosperity ministry: today is your day of blessing as if one·s life is not blessed by being poor and of humble life; the increasing amount of women pastors, bishop, deacons, etc. when Scripture speaks against such position being held by women (Acts 6:2, 3; 1Timothy 3:1-12; 1Timothy 2:12). Another is the taken on of earthly festivities and tying it to Christian living. One such is the Christmas celebration. Christ birth has nothing to do with Christmas. However, Christmas celebration has been merge with or taken on the truth of Christ birth. Pagan worship of sun gods on the 25th, of December under the cover of Christianity. This is a damnable heresy·s a perversion of what is holy with what is demonic. They questioned where is the promise of His coming? My friends, Christ was born not just to die but most importantly to procure a bride from His body: the church which will see its manifestation upon His return. Revelation 19:7, 8 We must therefore seek to purify ourselves to be found worthy when we are called from our sleep or alive by the sound of the trumpet to meet our Saviour in the clouds. There those found worthy at the judgement seat of Christ will be the ones fit the marriage supper, and those not worthy would be set-aside for burning fire in the millennial age. Another area of focal point these raging wolves spreading damnable heresies are now tying with their question where is the promise of His coming, surround verse 5, 6 of 2Peter 3. Many are viewing these verses and claiming it to be the Noahic floods which took place in Genesis chapter 8th.

Let us take a deeper look at 2Peter 3:5, 6
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: The word heavens speak to multiple heavens. Heavens (plural) ± ouranos: the sky by extension the heaven (as the abode of God).

The Scripture speaks up to three heavens; whether there is more I honestly can·t tell. The following text will support my statement. 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven . 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. This text clearly has ruled out the Noahic flood where the entire earth was covered by water and this nothing to do with any form of heaven. The word perished showing that the earth being perish by the means of a flood. Perish - apollumi (ap-ol'-loo-mee): to destroy fully (reflexively, to perish, or lose). The account that the 2Peter 3 passage points to the Noahic flood is further discounted by the word perished. This is because the earth though covered by water did not perish. This is clearly seen in Genesis 8:8-11 where Noah sent the dove and the dove returned with the olive branch in its mouth. This fact shows us that the plant-life was still intact, though covered with water. Genesis 8:8-11 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; 9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. 10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; 11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. The 2Peter 3 passage clearly points to the catastrophic flood seen in Genesis chapter 1. Let us see how these words: heavens and perished lines up with Genesis 1.

Heavens Genesis 1 shows a multiple of heavens. This will clearly resolve any doubts that has been lingering in our minds. 4

Genesis 1:6-8 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. FIRMAMENT The expanse of sky and space in which the stars and planets are set. God made the firmament on the second day of creation to divide the waters that covered the earth from those which surrounded it (Genesis 1:16). But the firmament includes more than the atmospheric region between the seas of earth and the rain clouds of the sky; it is far more vast. In fact, on the fourth day of creation God placed the stars, the sun, and the moon in the "firmament of the heavens" (Genesis 1:15-18). It is this vastness which the Hebrew writers tend to emphasize about the firmament. The writer of Psalms 150 pointed out that the firmament is "mighty" (v. 1). The prophet Ezekiel envisioned the firmament "like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over...[men's] heads" (Ezekiel 1:22). What the firmament reflects, then, is the greatness of the God who created it. We are urged to praise God because "the firmament shows His handiwork" (Psalms 19:1). God's people can look forward to a day when they will "shine like the brightness of the firmament" (Daniel 12:3). (from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Copyright © 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers) Perished Genesis 1 shows the earth without form, void and in total darkness; clearly in a perished state. Without form - tohuw, to'-hoo; A masculine noun meaning formlessness. Void - bohuw, bo-hoo; from an unused root (mean. to be empty); a vacuity, i.e. (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin:--emptiness, void. Throughout Scripture there is no other occurrence in this form of this magnitude. There was plant life left on earth as in the case of the Noahic flood.

Genesis 1:11-12 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the 5

earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. The evidence is insurmountable. The devil for some time now has blinded many of our eyes to the truth. By distorting the beginning everything else will be out of place, including the second coming of the Lord. The Spirit which moves upon the face of the waters covering the ruined earth which set in motion earth·s restoration is the template for the Spirit of God coming upon ruined man to give life for ever more. If this template is out of shape therefore all that it applies to will be out of sync. Where is the promise of His coming? All over the God·s Holy Scriptures. John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Remember my friends, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Christ return is sure; however, it is up to us to make sure that we are found worthy. The church will be raptured before the return of Christ, but Scripture clearly shows we will be judge according to our works/Christian living. Those whom haven·t accepted Him the lake of fie, eternal damnation awaits. Christian friends, stand fast and be ye unmovable, always abound in the Word and work of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
