He is skilled at defining strategic direction, building teams, growing revenue, and executing to exceed business objectives in the face of rapidly changing conditions. Most recently Lance was the Chief Operating Officer at nCrowd (formerly Half Off Depot). He played a significant role in the company securing a $7 million Series A financing. Working closely with the CEO and his colleagues, Lance set and implemented an expansion strategy that transformed the company into a national powerhouse in the local commerce market with over 4 million consumer users and a sales run rate of $25 million. Prior to nCrowd Lance was a Startup Catalyst with the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech. At this renowned startup accelerator Lance helped build high potential technology companies by collaborating with entrepreneurs in developing strategic business plans, building teams, raising capital, and implementing go to market plans. He provided early stage consulting to hundreds of startups that collectively raised over $100 million in angel and venture capital. In addition to his official duties at ATDC Lance launched Atlanta Startup Weekend and cofounded Skribit, Socialytics, and Twitpay. Previously, he was Chief Marketing Officer for CipherTrust where he led the development and execution of CipherTrust's marketing initiatives. Under Lance's watch CipherTrust effectively scaled its lead generation to more than double its revenue run rate and garnered significant industry awards and reviews. Lance came to CipherTrust from EarthLink, at the time the nation's third largest Internet service provider generating annual revenues of $1.4 billion, where he served as Executive Vice President. He focused on extending the company's Internet services beyond the personal computer to mobile devices and home Internet appliances. In this role, with full P&L responsibility, Lance created a business with 195,000 customers on a $45 million revenue run rate in less than two years. Prior to EarthLink, Lance was Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MindSpring, an Atlanta-based national Internet service provider. A marketing talent, Lance led MindSpring's growth from 340,000 to 1.3 million customers, directing all marketing functions. Lance was recognized as one of Marketing Computers "1999 Marketers of the Year" as a result of his success. Lance joined MindSpring during its infancy and held a variety of business development roles, contributing significantly to the company's early growth before taking charge of all marketing. Lance has often represented the companies he works with in the media. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company, and on CNBC and CNN. Lance is also an accomplished speaker at industry events. He graduated with honors from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. Lance went on to the Indiana University Kelley School of Business where he earned his Masters of Business Administration.
