FAQ’s (Frequently asked questions)

I’m absent. What should I do?

1. Contact Ms. Hernandez- either by texting, calling or emailing her.
2. Check google classroom- all assignments will be posted ahead of time on google
classroom.
3. Physical copies will be available in your classroom file folder
4. You’ll have an additional week to complete assignments*

I didn’t do well on the quiz. What can I do about it?

1. Look over your quiz and the questions that you missed. Think hard about why you
didn’t do well and on a separate piece of paper write an explanation of why you
think you didn’t do well. For example, did you get nervous? Did you forget to study?
Did you not ask for help when we were going over the information?
2. On that same piece of paper or directly on the quiz, circle the questions (or write
down the questions) you got wrong and a) explain your thinking and b)write down
the correct answer and why you think this new answer is correct.
3. Turn in your corrections to Ms. Hernandez and she’ll grant you an additional .5
points per question to your original score.

I’m lost! Where can I find all of this information?

Check out our google classroom (Classroom code: sicap2y). There you will find our book,
quizzes, final exams, video recordings of each class* (ONLY if we’re on zoom), student
notebooks and due dates for each assignment.
Unsung Hero: american profile
Unsung Hero: One who does great deeds but receives little or no
recognition for them

The story of America is usually only told through the perspective

of those in power. Oftentimes that doesn’t allow for the stories of
common Americans to be recognized for their efforts and
accomplishments in history. By profiling an American unsung hero,
we are hoping to provide greater diversity into the stories that make up the patchwork of
American History.

What are we going to do?

You will be creating a profile/presentation of a great American hero- one that was able to
accomplish amazing feats but received little or no recognition. You will be creating a
presentation on this person and then making that presentation in class.

What needs to be included?

● Profile on an unsung hero which needs to include at least 1 picture, information
regarding their early history, their greatest accomplishments, the barriers and
obstacles that this person faced and the impact/importance of their lives on
American society.
● The presentation should last at least 5 minutes

How will it be graded?

50% of the assignment is the profile/presentation. Points will be given based on the
information completed and whether or not all parts are included.
The other 50% of the assignment is the actual presentation- Points will be based on a
rubric to be presented a week before the presentation time.

When is it due?
September 27, 2021 at the end of the class period.
