What are the Philosophies of Maternal Child Health Nursing?

 Maternal and child health nursing is family-centered; assessment data
must include a family and individual assessment.
- Family-centered care is a method of health-care decision-making in
which the family and the health-care professional work together. Many
professional practices, hospitals, and health care organizations believe
family centered-care to be the preferred method in pediatric healthcare
services. Despite significant support, Family centered-care has yet to be
fully incorporated into clinical practice. The term "family-centered
care" is frequently used to describe the best possible health care for
families. To define the process of care delivery, the term is frequently
used in conjunction with terms like "partnership," "collaboration," and
"families as experts."
 Maternal and child health nursing is community-centered; the health of
families depends on and influences the health of communities.
- The focus of maternal and child health nursing is on the community. In
order to provide a continuum of care for low-resource populations,
community-based care is essential. Women's health and well-being, as
well as the health and well-being of babies and children, are inextricably
interwoven. The risk of sickness and early mortality in newborns
increases when their mothers are impoverished, unwell, or do not
receive adequate care for themselves and their children. To achieve
better health, women and children must be able to receive high-quality
services throughout their lives, from conception and pregnancy to
delivery, the postnatal period, and their childhood.
• Maternal and child health nursing is research-oriented, because research is
the means whereby critical knowledge increases.
- Research is important in the field of maternal and child health nursing
since it is the primary mechanism by which crucial knowledge is gained.
Research is vital because it provides us with the chance to eliminate
unnecessary deaths among all women, children, and adolescents, as well
as to significantly improve their standard of living and its well. Far too
many mothers, newborns, and millions of children continue to lack
access to basic, high-quality health and education services, and perhaps
even clean water and air, proper sanitation, and adequate nutritional
support. Investments in preventive, healthcare services, and education
are long-term investments that pay off over time.

• Both nursing theory and evidence-based practice provide a foundation for

nursing care.
- In nursing, evidence-based practice is the combination of research
findings, clinical expertise, and a patient's choices. Nurses are
encouraged to deliver personalized patient care as a result of this
problem-solving method to clinical settings. Achieving evidence-based
practice allows nurses to review research findings in order to better
comprehend the risks and benefits of a clinical diagnosis or treatment.
Nurses can incorporate patients in their treatment plans through the
use of electronic health records. Patients can participate directly in their
own healthcare by expressing their concerns, sharing their needs and
attitudes, and offering an opinion on how they would want to continue.
• A maternal and child health nurse serves as an advocate to protect the
rights of all family members, including the fetus.
- A maternal and child health nurse is also focused on the rights of their
patients and its family. It is advised that nurses actively help patients
and their families in their decision-making and participation, and that
nurses help encourage them in their participation. It has been shown
that involving patients and their families in the nursing process not only
improves the outcome of disease treatment, but it also results in
considerable improvements in the overall quality of care. Consequently,
aspects like as respect for patients and their families, factual
information, a warm and pleasant attitude, and the high workload of
nursing activities all contribute to the overall quality of care provided.

• Maternal and child health nursing includes a high degree of independent

nursing functions, because teaching and counseling are so frequently
required.
- Nursing practice can be defined as any component of care for which the
nurse is solely accountable, operating on his or her own initiative and
without the involvement of any other discipline. Patients who are well-
informed and have sufficient information to engage in decisions
regarding their disease and treatment are one of the goals of nursing
practice. It is critical for nurses to help patients gain greater
independence, allowing them to be more self-sufficient and take
responsibility for their own health.
• Promoting health is an important nursing role, because this protects the
health of the next generation.
- Nurses can help patients access preventative care such as consultation,
testing, and prophylactic procedures or drugs by encouraging and
teaching them about living a healthier lifestyle. Nurses can inspire
people to live healthier lifestyles through education, mentoring, and
leadership opportunities. Nurses who work in a variety of settings have
a significant role to play in primary care and wellbeing. Nursing has
traditionally been known for being a compassionate profession that
specializes in diseases control and prevention. Because they negotiate
the health-care system, nurses are vocal supporters for patients.

• Pregnancy or childhood illness can be stressful and can alter family life in
both subtle and extensive ways.
- While a woman is pregnant and throughout her prenatal medical
appointments, any existing health concerns can be discovered and
measures taken to prevent any continued health problems, not just for
the kid, but also for the mother herself. The maternity and childhood
nurse is dedicated to assisting all of our new mothers in becoming the
healthiest and finest mothers and caregivers for their infants.

• Personal, cultural, and religious attitudes and beliefs influence the meaning
of illness and its impact on the family. Circumstances such as illness or
pregnancy are meaningful only in the context of a total life.
- For a variety of reasons, health systems and healthcare providers are
creating methods and practices to cater to patients' and families'
religious or cultural needs. It is critical for healthcare to take into
consideration the cultural and spiritual demands of the patients. The
knowledge and abilities of healthcare professionals should be enhanced
so that they can better respond to the needs of patients and their
families during a time of extreme stress. If individuals and systems are
able to create a healthy cultural environment that supports the religious
and spiritual requirements of care-giving people, the patient outcome
will improve and the healthcare system as a whole becomes better.

• Maternal and child health nursing is a challenging role for a nurse and is a
major factor in promoting high-level wellness in families.
- Maternal and child health nurses assist children and their parents in
maintaining their health and wellbeing from birth to school age.
Individualized care and constant attention are offered, alongside
educational activities, to aid parents in nurturing their social networks.
