Newby Court, off Peebles High Street, and at a

The purpose of the directory is to encourage

Tweeddale residents to increase the proportion of
food bought from local producers. This will
• Reduce our carbon footprint, by us eating food
that hasn’t travelled too far
• Keep money in our local community – helping to
keep Peebles High Street the vibrant place it is and
reduce the amount of empty shops and hence
increasing local jobs
• Encourage people to eat healthy, non-processed
food that is in season and learn more about the
way our food is grown.

What is local food? We consider local to be food

from within a 50 mile radius – which takes in the
Lothians, Borders and some of Fife – meaning we
can source a wide range of foods including meat,
dairy, potatoes, fruit, vegetables as well as fish.

The following is a guide to sourcing your food

locally. It by no means covers everything, so do
speak to shop staff and find out where food comes
from and what is available.
