Design and Realization
OASE – Passionate About Water
“Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.”
– William Plomer Consider the cultural significance of money – the intimacy with which we interact with it everyday, the hopes and desires we attach to it and its physical manifestations in the form of coins and notes. For most societies and cultures coinage is a critical part of their identity, casting into metal important symbologies and meanings.
For the Xidan Public Square, in the heart of a commercial district under redevelopment in Beijing, we drew on the concepts of “Square” and “Circle” — as represented by the ancient “Tong Qian” coin and the “Wei Qi” board. Apart from the historical significance of these two representations, the symbology of “Square = Earth” and “Circle = Heaven” carries a deeper meaning which is also incorporated into the choreography of the water display.
The games we play, on the other hand, are what elevates us above the mundane. Games let us escape from routine and the expected; they allow our fantasies to take flight. Using these ideas in a water feature may seem odd at first, but this is exactly what is behind our design philosphy.

When contemplating designs for a water feature, we look in unlikely places to develop solutions that will create not just a fountain, but also an expression of our clients’ values and ideals, taking into account context and culture without sacrificing economic or environmental considerations.
We are able to do this successfully because we listen to our clients and – as a global firm and multi-cultural organization – have the requisite local knowledge to understand what they are expressing to us. The result is a design that has meaning to the client, the culture and human experience.

“Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing them.”
– Theodore Levitt Water features are often highly technical projects requiring complex engineering, a multitude of specialty vendors and tight coordination of schedules. This can result in significant delays, increases in costs and even a reluctance to actually execute a particular design. We understand this. This is why we have created an organization that can handle all aspects of taking a design from the concept stage to final handover. Our design, engineering and project teams understand the needs and requirements of developers, architects, and contractors to meet deadlines and budgets.
Bugis Junction, Singapore 2007 Raffles City, Singapore 2007 Banpo Bridge, Korea 2008
Because we can integrate design, engineering, material supply and project management, we can significantly reduce delays due to miscommunication, ensure quality, and – without multiple vendor layers – control costs while preserving accountability and transparency.
We support our clients before, during and after a project. Using our technological expertise and advanced products we aim to deliver water features that are reliable, maintainable and sustainable – from start to finish.

Passionate about Water
For decades OASE has stood for creative design using water. Fascinating water effects in private gardens to large imposing in-
stallations in the public area indicate the broad area of implementation. Founded in 1948 as a repair shop for agricultural machines OASE has developed itself into a global player with a reputation for innovation and quality. In the »Water Gardens« business segment the private garden pond in all conceivable facets is the focus. »Fountain Technology« uses the interplay of water, light, and frequently music as well, for breath-taking staging of project solutions. The segment »Lake Management« is responsible for water quality in artificial bodies of water, e.g. on golf courses or in parks. OASE’s highly-qualified and experienced employees know the market requirements and trends, create innovative, reliable products, and offer world-class custom-tailored service. Clients profit from the outstanding technical competence and comprehensive system solutions of OASE’s international network. Whether single fountains, or extensive installations up to 150 metres in height, in classic or modern form, whether artist fountain or complete system solutions with minimal installation requirements: OASE develops everything precisely in accordance with the ideas of our customers and through this collaborative process creates impressive water effects, using first class technology and custom-tailored design. With artistically designed fountains OASE creates a unique atmosphere through the interplay of art object, moving water, and lighting. A very special visual experience that we make possible not only in public areas but also indoors as well. Major projects, such as »Magie de l’énergie« on the Expo grounds in Switzerland, the 141 meter floating fountain in Bahrain, or the world’s largest floating water organ on the Neva in St. Petersburg. We develop the technical components, as well as the design and creative concepts, e.g. for impressive »Musical Fountains« like the »Monas« installation in Jakarta, in our Competence Centres in Germany and Singapore.
