ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE 2012 OYU TOLGOI OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP

As per the Investment Agreement, and the Memorandum of Understanding between Oyu Tolgoi LLC and Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Oyu Tolgoi training strategy on professional training and education, Oyu Tolgoi LLC has established a scholarship program to assist the education of Mongolian nationals. The Oyu Tolgoi Scholarship Program is designed to financially assist qualified applicants in obtaining degrees from accredited academic institutions of higher learning in the fields of mining engineering, operations, science and technology, environment and earth sciences. Oyu Tolgoi LLC is offering scholarship opportunities to study at well-known universities in USA, Canada and Australia. OYU TOLGOI LLC IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE START OF THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR THE 2012 OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. The scholarships are awarded based on merit as measured by academic performance, leadership potential, proactive community service record, and sound future vision including high interest in long term employment in the growing mining sector in Mongolia. The overseas scholarship program will cover tuition fees, living expenses, airfare,health insurance, and visa and university admission fees. The scholarship program supports study in most fields of mining engineering, operations, science and technology, environment and earth sciences including: mining engineering, operations, mineral processing, metallurgy, geology,mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, environmental policy, energy, IT management, and economics related to mining. General Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must: y Be a citizen of Mongolia. For Undergraduate Study y y y Be a second or third year fulltime student at anaccredited Mongolian higher educationinstitute Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher Have taken a TOEFL or IELTS exam within the last 2 years (A minimum TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 79 IBT, or a 6.5 overallscore on the IELTS exam)If you don¶t have a valid TOEFL score yet, please take a mock or institutional TOEFL exam.

For Graduate Study(MA and MS) Essential criteria y y y Be a recent graduate and hold a bachelor¶s degree from an accredited higher education institution recognized by overseas universities Graduated witha minimumGPA of 3.2 or higher Have taken a TOEFL or IELTS exam within the last 2 years (A minimum TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 79 IBT, or a 6.5overallscore on the IELTS exam)If you don¶t have a valid TOEFL score yet, please take a mock or institutional TOEFL exam.

Desirable criteria y A recent GRE exam score.

Applicants who meet the above-mentioned essential criteria are eligible to apply for the overseas scholarship program. English language training will be available to successful applicants to improve their English language skills to meet the overseas universities¶ requirements. Application Process Step1. Applicants should submit: y A completed application form; available fromwww.ot.mn or www.zorigfoundation.org(Oyu Tolgoi Scholarship administering organization); y An official academic transcriptwith an official English translation for undergraduate applicants Or; Certified copy of bachelor¶sdegree with transcript(with an official English translation) for graduate applicants; y Certified copy of TOEFL or IELTS exam result; y Certified copy of GRE exam result, if available(only for graduate applicants); y Two letters of recommendation from university professors and/or current employer(with an official English translation); y Statement of Academic Goals-Please attach an essay in English with 500-600 words (Times new roman, size 12, single spaced) describing your intended field of study, your career objectives and how you can contribute to the social and economic development of Mongolia throughthe newly acquired knowledge and skills from your study overseas. y 1 passportsize photograph Step2. Materials will be reviewed by the Oyu Tolgoi and Zorig Foundation scholarship committee. Applicants will be assessed according to whether they satisfy the above eligibility criteria and conditions.Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview for final selection.

Step3. Application and supporting documents of selected students will be sent to overseas universities for admission.Overseas university will review applicants¶ materials through theiradmission criteria and make an admission decision based on the applicants¶ materials. The Oyu Tolgoi Scholarship will be offered to those applicants who are successfully accepted by anoverseas university.
