Conference calls for coaches

A conference addressing the practice and theory of sports coaching is taking


place this week.

‘New Directions in Sports Coaching’ will offer the opportunity to listen to and
engage with national and international leaders in the practice and theory of
sport coaching. It is being held on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 April at
Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

Featuring guests including Professor Jean Cote of Queens University,


Ontario, and Dave Haskins, author of ‘Coaching the Whole Child: Positive
Development through Sport’, as well as key individuals in the academic field
of sport coaching, research and delivery and leading individuals from a
number of National Governing Bodies of Sport, the conference will address
topics such as new directions in sport coaching, new programmes for the
professional preparation of children and talent coaches and professional
preparation and support of coach developers.

The conference will review, debate and discuss some of the key issues that
need to be developed to respond to these important developments in a UK
and Global context.

It will be of interest to coaches, teachers, school sport partnerships:


Government Bodies in Sports; Coaching Support Networks; researchers and
students who are interested in enhancing the experience of children in sport.
The event will be held at the Lewis Jones Suite, Carnegie Stand, Headingley
Carnegie Stadium, commencing at 5pm on Tuesday 12 April.
