Verbul ‘to be’ este neregulat şi are trei forme: am, is, are I am – he is – she is – it is –
we are – you are – they are
Exemplu:
Formele scurte (sau ‘îngustate’) sunt: I’m – he’s – she’s – it’s – we’re – you’re –
they’re
Exemplu:
Negativul verbului ‘to be’ se formează adăugând ‘not’: I am not – he is not – she is not
– it is not – we are not – you are not – they are not
Formele scurte: I’m not – he isn’t – she isn’t – it isn’t – we aren’t – you aren’t – they
aren’t
Exemple:
Verbele auxiliare modale (can, could, must, may, might, shall, should, will, would) au
numai o singură formă.
De asemenea, există forme scurte afirmative pentru ‘shall’ ('ll) ‘will’ ('ll) şi ‘would’ ('d)
Exemplu:
I’ll go tomorrow.
They’ll be here later.
She’d come if she could.
Negativul este format adăugând ‘not’: ‘can not’ este scris într-un cuvânt: cannot

MODUL IMPERATIV
formă de adresare – YOU.
infinitivul (fără ‘to’).
Exemple:
Sit down.
Come here.
Listen everybody.
Tell me your name.
Open the window.
Help me!
cum ar fi ‘Will you sit, please?’ sau ‘Could you open the window, please?’ sau ‘Would
you mind sitting down, please?’
înaintea infinitivului (fără ‘to’).
Exemple:
MAKE
make a phonecall
make an appointment
make arrangements
make a photocopy
make a cup of tea or coffee
make a change
make a mistake
make a noise
make a promise
make a plan
make money
DO
do a job
do the washing
do the washing up
do the dishes
do the shopping
do a favour
do an exercise
do the housework
do a course
do a lot of sport
do justice
PREZENTUL PERFECT
Propoziţia ‘I have finished the report yesterday’ NU este corectă, deoarece ‘yesterday’
finished the report yesterday.’
‘I WOULD LIKE’ (sau ‘I’D LIKE’) este forma verbului ‘to like’ la condiţional. Aveţi grijă să
nu o confundaţi cu forma prezentului simplu.
De exemplu:
Verbul TO HAVE

Interogativ:
Exemple:
I’ve finished.
Have you finished?
I haven’t finished.
He’s finished.
Has he finished?
He hasn’t finished.
They’ve arrived.
John and Mary have arrived.
I had already arrived before John came.
I’d already arrived before John came.
I told him I had not finished.
I told him I hadn’t finished.
2. Folosirea verbului HAVE pentru a exprima posesiunea
I have an appointment.
Have you an appointment?
He has a big car.
Has he a problem?
We haven’t time.
She hasn’t time.
auxiliar ca în punctul 1), astfel încât verbele auxiliarie DO/DOES/DON’T/DOESN’T
nefiind necesare.
auxiliare DO/DOES/DON’T/DOESN’T/DID/DIDN’T.
I have an appointment.
Do you have an appointment?
He has a big car.
Does he have a problem?
We don’t have time.
She doesn’t have time.
I had an appointment.
Did you have an appointment?
I didn’t have time.
posesiuni
Exemple:
have a baby
have a bath
have a shower
have fun
have a good trip
have an accident
have a look
have a break
have breakfast
have lunch
have dinner
have a drink
have a cup of tea
have a good time
They’re going to have their house painted. Îşi lasă casa să le-o văruiască. *When
was the last time you had the oil changed? Când aţi fost ultima dată să schimbaţi
uleiul?
auxiliare DO/DOES/DON’T/DOESN’T/DID/DIDN’T:
Exemplu:
Exemplu:
NEGATIV
Exemplu:
Notă: În loc de NOT + ANY se poate folosi la forma afirmativă cu indicele cantitativ de
zero, NO.
Exemplu:

Exemplu:
Is there any bread on the table?
Are there any rooms free?

Notă:
ORA
auxiliar.
He lives here.
She lives here.
John lives here.
Who lives here?
here?’ este o întrebare, deoarece WHO este pronume interogativ.

SHOULD
PREZENTUL SIMPLU
Exemple:
He works in a bank.
I go swimming every Friday.
Mary usually gets up at 8 o’clock.
The sun rises in the east.
What time does the flight leave?
We arrive in London next Friday and leave on Sunday.
PREZENTUL CONTINUU
Exemple:
Aici ‘the judge’ este subiectul şi ‘him’ este COMPLEMENT DIRECT al verbului.
Exemplu:
De exemplu: ‘He has come’ înseamnă pur şi simplu ‘He is here’. Nu se poate spune ‘He
has come yesterday’ deoarece ‘yesterday’ se referă la trecut. Deci trebuie să spunem
‘He came yesterday’.
PRONUMELE RELATIVE
WHO, WHICH şi THAT pot fi omise când sunt subiectul unei propoziţii relative.
Exemplu:
WHAT înseamnă ‘the thing which’, ‘that thing which’ sau ‘the things which’ etc.
Exemplu:
USED TO
Afirmativ: used to
Exemplu:
Exemplu:
Exemplu:
Exemplu:
Notă: După verbul ‘tell’ trebuie să folosiţi complementul indirect. Dacă doriţi să folosiţi
complementul indirect după ‘say’ trebuie să folosiţi ‘to’.
Exemple:
Exemple:
interogativă şi verbele auxiliare DO, DOES, DID nu se folosesc. Dacă întrebarea directă
nu începe cu pronumele interogative cum ar fi WHO, WHERE, WHAT, WHEN etc.,
întrebarea directă sau indirectă începe cu IF sau WHETHER.
Exemple:
ARTICOLELE
de vocală, de exemplu ‘an apple’ sau ‘an old book’.
Articolul hotărât este ‘THE’.
