Foster Area

The West Ravenswood Corridor Greenway Metra North Line Improvements

View North
Much of the green space in the area south of Foster Avenue is difficult to manage due to its narrow eight-foot
width and inaccessibility behind a concrete parking lot wall.
Widening the green space here will provide more planting opportunities and make the landscape more

compatible with the green space south of Winona Street. The increased width will also mitigate the need for (on RR property line)

a continuous high retaining wall along the railroad property line. The slopes between the railroad and street
will instead be managed with plantable, “green” walls.
A one-way Ravenswood Avenue will make the area friendlier to both drivers and pedestrians and allow for
the increased green space.
