LINC is a community resource centre for lesbians and bisexual women and their families

in Cork and beyond which is in its twelfth year of operation. The HSE provides core
funding to support the work we deliver in the L&B community. LINC aims to “improve
the quality of life, health and well-being of all women who identify as lesbian or
bisexual”. This shall be achieved by:
 Building a safe, accessible and vibrant community centre (actual and virtual) for
lesbians, bisexual and trans (LBT) women
 Providing information and support for LBT women and their families
 Promoting the physical, mental, emotional and sexual health of LBT women
 Informing and contributing to relevant policy development at local, regional and
national level
 Being a model of best practice rooted in feminist, social justice and community
development principles.

Job Description

Job Title: Community Support Worker

Overall responsibilities: To support the Co-ordinator, Steering Group and Staff of


LINC, ensuring that the ethos, aims and objectives of LINC are maintained and promoted
at all times.

Role:
Key role in welcoming and supporting community members: women coming in for the
first time; family members and friends.
Manage external communications – answer telephone, prepare correspondence (paper
and electronic), respond to emails, update LINC’s website, library and sourcing resources
etc…
Support the project in the ongoing development of group supports.
Participate in team meetings
Participate in ongoing training
Other duties as may be deemed necessary

Responsible To:
LINC Project Co-ordinator
The LINC Steering Group
Jointly responsible with team for:
Maintaining the warm, friendly and accessible atmosphere in our resource centre at
White Street. Ongoing maintenance of the premises. Documenting the experience of
LINC as an organization and providing regular, structured and informative reports to the
LINC Steering Group.

Jointly responsible with Staff and Steering Group for:


Maintaining the ethos of LINC as an organization
Supporting the implementation of the agreed one year work-plan
Developing and implementing strategies to sustain and maintain LINC.
Organizing community meetings three times a year

Skills Required:
Knowledge and Experience of the Lesbian/Bisexual women’s community is essential
Experience in an office setting
Excellent verbal communication skills
Outgoing and warm personality
Good organizational skills
The ability to work as part of a team
Flexibility
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Computer Skills essential.

Hours 19.5 weekly

Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
