Essay

1. Are you convinced that the first Mass in the Philippines was held in Limawasa? Justify
your answer.

Yes, Christianity taking Root this. The first Catholic Mass in the Philippines was held
on march 31,1521 which is the Eastern Sunday. According to the diary of Antonio
Pigafetta, it was held along the chores of what was referred to as Mazua. Where in
Pigafetta joined the expedition to the Spice Islands led by explorer Ferdinand Magellan
under the flag of King Charles of Spain. These is the first ever Easter Mass in the
Philippines it is a landmark in the History of Philippines Christianity and it can’t be
change anymore. As a matter of observation, a few noted historians are now longer
referring to the Limasawa mass as the ‘first’. Earlier, three has been a shift are
referring to the Limasawa event as the first recorded mass. Without being disrespectful
much less smart alecky.

I am afraid the National Historical Institute panel may never have read Pigafetta in its
entirety or whatever they may have read, they dismally misinterpreted! I have combed
through Pigafetta in its couple of English translations. There is absolutely no doubt that
mass was celebrated in Limasawa on March 31,1521, Easter Sunday because Pigafetta
did say so. But nowhere in the entire Pigafetta manuscript did he ever state or even hint
that it has the first ever. In fact, the National Historical Institute repeated a much earlier
Congressional error I research about it to know more about what is the true statement.
We see on June 19,1960, Republic Act 2733 lapsed in law, without executive approval but
President Macapagal did not sign it that legislation declared Limasawa a National
Shrine because it was there that the first Mass in the Philippines was held.

After that happened till now in the Philippines, Limasawa is considered the Birth place
of Roman Catholicism as a Christianity I do will believed what happened in the past of
what witnesses said, researchers that can connect the mysterious happened that what
we called now a history. Every history had a significance proclamation of being relying
the historic information that we’ve might be believe or not, acquaintance or not, but one
thing I fully believe that every Filipinos give a treat of importance’s in the way of anguish
of the people in the passed generation, how they would surmount all of what happened
every details were noted eventually I didn’t know anything about what happened those
times I have no proper sources nor knowledge of the event but I still convinced what
they’re stated because I am a fully Filipino who has believe the history in every with it.
2. Give your reaction to the following statement of Izquierdo mentioned in his report on
the Cavite Mutiny. “The Indios were possessed with the natural tendency of stealing”.

My reaction to the following his statement mentioned in his report on the Cavite
Mutiny that it seemed to me that he is generalizing the whole Filipino people and I didn’t
like that maybe he has own reason why he stated it like. In addition, I gaged his
statement he conveyed that Filipino were a bad. Besides, they are the one who were
really stealing as well as they actually occupied Filipino country and they raised as their
own. Filipino were becoming not felicitous comfortable, looked down Filipino
sententious, justice for the Filipino was disappeared due to this action.

I didn’t like his myriad size of tongue to spoke it engenders me to down as a Filipino
citizen, no time to think the invidious preceding happened because we know everything
happens in a prolonged reason.

3. Analyze the three documents on the retraction of Dr. Jose Rizal. Do you believe he
retracted?

The first documents retraction of Dr. Jose Rizal was I declare myself a catholic and in
this Religion in which I was born and educated I wish to live and die. As he said
testament, I retract with all my heart whatever in my words writings, publications and
conduct has been contrary to my character as son of the Catholic Church. I believe and I
confess whatever she teaches and I submit to whatever she demands. I abominate
Masonry, as the enemy which is of the Church, and as a society prohibited by the
Church. The diocesan Prelate may, as the Superior Ecclesiastical Authority, make public
this spontaneous manifestation of mine in order to repair the scandal which my acts
may have caused and so that God and people may pardon me. Manila 29 of December of
1896. Dr. Jose Rizal first retraction. Most illustrious Sir, the agent of the Cuerpo de
Vigilancia stationed in Fort Santiago to report on the events during the day in prison of
the accused Jose Rizal, informs me on this date of the following. Jose Rizal entered
death row accompanied by his counsel. The if that Dr. Jose Rizal only wanted a prayer
book, which was brought to him shortly by Father March. Senor Andrade left death row
at 10 and Rizal spoke for a long while with the Jesuit fathers, March and Vila Clara,
regarding religious matters, it seems. It appears that these two presented him with a
prepared retraction on his life and deeds that he refused to sign. They argued about the
matter until 12:30 when Rizal ate some poached egg and a little chicken. Afterwards he
asked to leave to write and wrote for a long time by himself. Rizal handed him what he
had written. Immediately the chief of the firing squad, Senor del Fresno and the
assistant of the plaza, Senor Maure, were informed. They entered death row and
together with Rizal signed the document that the accused had written. The lover of Rizal
arrived at the prison. After embracing him she left, flooded with tears.

No, I didn’t believe his retraction. The truth of this document is doubtful because of
iterations or versions. If this retraction true or not I would still believe Dr. Jose Rizal, he
is skills of written we didn’t deny that Jose Rizal was had the biggest contribution of the
Philippines he did to fight through his written independence, particularly the Noli me
Tangere and El Filibusterismo were viewed as the guiding force. Accordingly, it minds
tarnish heroin of Dr. Jose Rizal, because he had retracting that didn’t true or not, do
only person who defended Filipino against the Spanish, he was the most diversely
talented person to ever have lived through it mean I withdraw to claim if it is consider
as retractive of Rizal though didn’t true what he did to disclosed what Spanish did to the
Filipino about the injustices and inequalities experienced of the Filipino during the time
of Spanish colonization. But according to some historian and majority historian they
would actually agree that the document of retraction that does not tarnish the heroin of
Dr. Jose Rizal because it was published, it was reading in all, but it depends of the
people if they believe or not. Maybe he did to choose what he wants in life, he chooses
where he feels jubilant his happiness because all of his life, he surrenders his life to
defend the Filipino as a servant of Roman Catholic from the terrorist. Always remember
that Dr. Jose Rizal was also a person, that have a feeling.
4. There are too many versions on the date and site of Bonifacio’s Cry. Which of these
are you strongly convinced as the actual date and site? Why?

The Cry of Pugad Lawin, I amazed it name I thought the pugad lawin it might fly. I
don’t know if I convinced but one thing, I’m gonna sure I’m interested so I feel this is.

Originally the term CRY referred to the first skirmish between the katipuneros and Civil
Guards. It competing accounts and ambiguity of the place where this event took place,
the exact date and place of the Cry is in contention. It is officially regarded as the start of
the Philippines revolution against Spain with the use of violence and arms. Happened on
different dates and places with the same Katipunan leaders, it is possible that they
conducted each of the different places around the Caloocan. It was the first instance
when the will power of an oppressed people was unified and ultimately succeeded in
overthrowing an oppressive foreign ruler.

5. Express your idea about the following controversies.

5.1 The EDSA People Power. Revolution or not?

It is February Revolution was a series of popular demonstrations in the

Philippines, mostly in Metro Manila. A major complain of the People Power
Protesters was blatant corruption of the Marcos regime.

The 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution gathered millions of Filipinos from
all walks of life of Filipinos from all walks of life to march along Epifanio de los
Santos Avenue, the main artery of Metro Manila, to end the dictatorship of
President Ferdinand E. Marcos and begin a new era marked by true freedom and
democracy. The spirit of the movement was not confined to Manila. It manifested
through non-violent demonstrations staged in different cities nationwide, it was
a revolution marked by its peaceful means, led by a nation united to reclaim
liberty. It is made a very significant mark in the Philippines history, it was four-
day series of a peaceful rally against the Presidency of Ferdinand Marcos.

There was a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence

and electoral fraud. The nonviolent revolution led to the departure of Ferdinand
Marcos, the end of his 20 years dictatorship and the restoration of democracy in
the Philippines.

5.2 Ninoy Aquino. Hero or not?

Hero, I think, Ninoy Aquino died at the airport at 1983 and that gun man
shoot Ninoy Aquino it not recognized who is it. Ninoy Aquino was allowed to leave
a coronary bypass surgery. I don’t know what Ninoy did for the Filipino but he still
led us as a President of the Philippines.

5.3 The Buried of President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Should He or Should He Not?

Should he, I think. He was a former soldier and twice elected

President of the country. Regulations stipulate who should be buried at
the Libingan ng mg Bayani and these are very clear, one can argue
that the name of the place is a misnomer given that not everyone
buried there deserves to be called a hero. The decision brings closure
to countless Filipinos who can finally put an end to a widely divisive
issue.

Many of us thought how cruel President Marcos but if we look on the

brighter side, he just made the Philippines as one of the riches
countries on his term. And he also brought the SI uni. He had done
many good things, but based on history we’re exposing how cruel he
is.
