Since 1998

By Fred Seibert, President

Are you a cartoon nut like me? If so, then we probably both
have fond memories of 1998.

For me it was a watershed year. I had just five years being

President of Hanna-Barbera, helping a bunch of incredibly
talented new cartoon makers revitalize the industry with great
new original shows like Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff
Girls, Cow and Chicken and Johnny Bravo. Now I was opening
my own independent production company, and launching a new
series at Nickelodeon. Oh Yeah, Cartoons!would continue the
work we had started at HB—hunting out fresh talent who
wanted to make the short, funny, character driven bursts of
energy for television.

Oh Yeah, Cartoons! brought 99 new cartoon shorts into the

world! Some were wonderful, fascinating, one-time-only
delights. Some, I admit, would have to be called interesting
failures. And three—ChalkZone, The Fairly Oddparents, and
My Life As A Teenage Robot—went to series and became three
of Nickelodeon’s highest rated shows ever. That’s a pretty good
track record!

Now I’m hungry to make more. I still love cartoons and I

intend to keep making them, with original wild ideas that spring
from the fevered imagination of cartoon nuts like you. So if
you have a notion for a short, funny, character driven burst of
energy, get in touch with me and let’s see if we can make
something out it. You’ll find me at:
