I am writing to introduce myself to your organisation for consideration of an International Internship, particularly in Event Management or related fields, through your organisation. I feel that my calling is in Event Management and I am very attracted to the opportunity to undertake an internship that could assist a career transition into this field, along with satisfying my passion for travel and broader cultural experiences. I have a broad range of practical experience and life skills related to my field of interest, and have just finalised recognition for prior learning process with South West TAFE that will provide me with a Diploma in Event Management. My curriculum vitae (attached) details my employment and personal history including the range of transferable practical skills I have developed which I believe will assist me in successfully fulfilling a role in Event Management. I have a broad background in administration and project support roles in both small business and larger corporate environments, along with a background in hospitality. Commencing in 2012 I aim to partake in a “Bachelor of Business” majoring in Event Management at Latrobe University, Australia. I believe that I have well developed project management skills, superior organizational skills and the ability to build and maintain solid working relationships. My current role as Project Support Officer in the Innovation and Sustainability Department for a regional Victorian Water Corporation has provided me with a solid background in Sustainability principles inclusive of waste management, carbon offsetting, greenhouse reduction and recycled water. I am passionate about being able to utilise these skills and incorporate them into event planning processes for more sustainable outcomes. Recently I have also gained relevant experience through personal activities including 3 years as President of the local Touch Football Association. This has involved initiating and arranging regional league games and tournaments throughout Victoria for a broad range of participants, and successful application for funding grants to support these activities and events. I have also been actively involved in managing a variety of Private Functions inclusive of weddings, several major workplace events and functions, community fundraising events such as the local Relay for Life (Cancer Research Funding), and recently developed my first public Photography Exhibition in collaboration with three other local artists. Further to your eligibility criteria, I consider myself to be in good health, can type accurately in excess of 50 words-per-minute and have strong proficiency with a range of computer packages popularly used in business, as well as more specific applications related to corporate management systems, photography and web publishing. English is my first language. I am hard working, courteous, friendly, liberal and a good communicator, I have strong interpersonal skills and am a team player. I feel that my best attributes include my personality and ability to use my own initiative to adapt to a variety of situations and people. I have a strong desire to succeed in any role I take on. If successful in obtaining a placement this internship will allow me to gain further practical skills and a greater understanding in the event management field, assisting me in completing my tertiary studies and transitioning to my preferred career path.
