Hour’
Earth Hour is a program run by students of Marine
Science courses as a measure to raise awareness
about Earth Hour and the marine environment. This
program is the concept of loving the environment by
providing exposure of students about environmental
issues through exhibits and video. This program
gives a warning and awareness to the student / i to
stop using electricity for one hour on March 26,
2011 starting at 8.30pm until 9.30pm.

Objective
1. Increase student awareness on climate
change and the Earth Hour activities.
2. Knowing that the marine environment is
one component that plays an important role
in overcoming the problem of global
warming.
3. Urge of students to support Earth Hour by
involving themselves in stopping the use of
electricity for 1 hour, namely on 26 March
2011 (8.30pm-9.30pm) in the world.

1.1 Increase awareness of secondary school students and student / I of

climate change and the Earth Hour activities.
1.2 Promoting environmental nature of love among secondary school students and
undergraduates through awareness campaigns and activities of Earth Hour.
1.3 To strengthen the ties between students and lecturer.
1.4 Promoting the value of leadership among students through activities that are held.
1.5 Increase the confidence in students to communicate and socialize in a proper way.
1.6 Generating student thinking creatively and critically in the activities that will be held.
1.7 Increase interaction with students of secondary school with undergraduates students
.

2 Pengenalan / Pendahuluan

Earth Hour is a program coordinate by the second year students of Marine Science in
University Malaysia Sabah. Earth Hour Program is one of the best approaches to increasing
the awareness of students about the Earth Hour activities that will take place on March 26,
2011 at the global level. Furthermore, the Earth Hour was held to inculcate the love of the
environment to the undergraduate students. In addition, Earth Hour program create and
strengthen the ties between students and lecturer. Earth Hour Program able to establish a
strong cooperation among the of students of various races to achieve the main goal of this
program,i.e. to reduce electricity usage for a period of one hour.
