Who is?

AAMI The Association for the Advancement of Medical


Instrumentation is the secretariat for ICC. Founded
in 1967, AAMI is the leading developer of medical
device standards worldwide, and an alliance
between the users and the manufactures of medical
instrumentation. In April of 1972, the first AAMI
CBET certificates were issued.
ICC The International Certification Commission
established in1983 by a merger between AAMI’s
Certification Commission and the American Board of
Clinical Engineers.
PTC The Professional Testing Corporation is a
Psychometric organization, administers the ICC
examinations, testing sites & provides accurate
reporting of test demographics.

Eligibility Requirements for FULL Certification


1. AAS Degree in Biomedical Program
+ 2 years F/T BMET work experience

2. AAS Degree in Electronics Program


+ 3 years F/T BMET work experience

3. At least 4 years F/T BMET work experience

Requirement Options for CLES Only:


4. AAS Degree in Medical Laboratory
+ 2 years F/T BMET work experience

5. BS in Medical Technology
+ 2 years F/T BMET work experience

For CRES & CLES Applicants:


At least 40% of work experience over the last 2 years
or 25% over the last 5 years must be in the designated
specialty area.
