Social media impact on human behavior and society
● Executive summary:
The majority of studies that looked at social media usage as a typical social behavior with
beneficial or negative consequences on health-related outcomes conceived and measured
social media use and its effects in terms of dose–effect relationships. When we
experiment with technology, particularly social media, our behavior alters even more.
People's regular use of social media has grown to the point that it is subtly infusing an
inflection into our behavior. This research is conducting to know the reasons that how,
social media impact on human behavior and society and what are the factors which
influence the human behavior. There are so many social platforms which can be used
like Facebook. Instagram, WhatsApp, twitter and many more. And in this research
proposal we will discuss about Facebook, Instagram, google. From this we get to know
how much social media used and which one is more used by people of the society.

● Background of the problem:

A social media platform is an online platform that users use to develop social networks or
relationships with others that share similar personal or professional interests, hobbies,
backgrounds, or real-life connections. Social networks have a huge impact on young
people. It's becoming evident that social media has become an integral component of
people's life. Many teenagers check Tweets and status updates from their friends and
family on their laptops, tablet computers, and smart phones. People are being driven to
accept alternative lifestyles as a result of technological advancements. In this paper we
study various social networking sites, and its impact on various areas (Business and
Commerce, Education, Health and medical Education etc) in which social media is
extensively used in these days with its positive and negatives aspects and guidelines
for handling the negative effects of social media on society
Facebook:
This is the Internet's most popular social media network, both in terms of overall users
and brand recognition. Since its inception on February 4, 2004, Facebook has grown to
over 1.59 billion monthly active users, making it one of the most effective platforms for
connecting people from all over the world with your business. More than 1 million small
and medium-sized businesses utilize the site to advertise their business, which is
unsurprising. According to the 2017 official report published by Facebook, on average
there were 1.40 billion Daily active users of Facebook for December 2017, an increase of
14% year-over-year.
Twitter:
Twitter We may believe that limiting our posts to 140 characters is no way to promote our
business, but we will be surprised to learn that this social media platform has over 320
million monthly active users who can make use of the 140 character limit to communicate
information. Businesses may use Twitter to communicate with potential customers,
answer inquiries, and provide the latest news while also targeting ads to specific
audiences. Twitter was started on March 21, 2006, in San Francisco, California, and is
headquartered there.
Whatsapp:
WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform instant messaging app for phones,
tablets, and computers. To transmit photographs, texts, documents, audio,
and video messages to other users who have the app loaded on their devices,
the software requires an Internet connection. WhatsApp Inc. was founded in
January 2010 and was purchased by Facebook on February 19, 2004 for
$19.3 billion. Today, over 1 billion people utilize the service to communicate
with their friends, family, and even clients.
● IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON SOCIETY:
We are all aware of the power of social media to have a significant impact on our society.
Some social media sites have altered the way people communicate and socialise on the
internet. Person to person communication sites allow people to reconnect with former
friends, partners, and acquaintances. Individuals can reconnect with past companions,
partners, and mates using person to person contact sites. It also encourages people to
make new friends and to share stuff, like as photographs, sounds, and recordings, with
them. Furthermore, web-based social networking alters people's lifestyles.
Positive Effect of Social Media on Society:
Connectivity- is the first and most important advantage of social media. People from all
over the world can communicate with each other. Regardless of where you are or what
religion you practise. The allure of social media is that it allows you to connect with
anyone in order to learn and share your ideas.
Education - Students and teachers benefit from social networking in a variety of ways. It
is really simple to learn from those who are experts and professionals via social media.
Anyone can learn from and improve their knowledge in any field by following them. We
can educate ourselves without paying for it, regardless of our location or educational
background.
Help - You can share your problems with the group for support and energy. Regardless of
whether you need financial assistance or counsel, you can get it from the group with
which you are affiliated.
Updates and Information – The fundamental advantage of web-based social networking
is that it allows you to keep up with the most recent events happening across the world. In
today's world, television and print media are frequently one-sided and do not convey the
true message. By doing some research with the help of web-based social networking, you
may receive the facts and real information.
Advertising - We can reach the widest possible audience with our message. You have the
entire globe at your disposal, and you may promote yourself to them. It will assist in
increasing profits and achieving business objectives.
Noble Causes - Social media can be utilised for noble causes as well. The general
population is using social media to contribute to those in need, and it can be a simple way
to assist them.
Negative Effect of Social Media on Society:
Cyber Harassment - According to a survey published by PewCenter.org, the majority of
teenagers have become victims of cyberbullying in the past. Because anyone can
construct a fake record and do anything they want without getting caught, it has become
quite simple for anyone to spook on the Internet. Dangers, threatening messages, and bits
of gossip can be sent to the general population in order to cause trouble and unrest.
Hacking - On the Internet, personal information and security can be hacked and shared.
In the past, several Twitter and Facebook accounts were hacked, and the programmer
released things that altered people's lives.
Addiction - The addictive aspect of internet networking is terrible and may wreak havoc
on people's lives. It can also waste people's time that could be better spent on more
productive chores and activities.
Fraud and Scams - There are several examples of persons who have used online
networking to conduct fraud and scams.

analyzing data from people. (for example sample).
● Review of literature:
W.Akram, R.Kumar (2017) youth and teenagers are the nation's builders, and they
have grown up as members of the Net Generation in this era. They can readily use the
latest technology, such as smart phones, mp3 players, digital cameras, video games,
iPads, electronic readers, and personal computers, in a variety of ways. Both positive
and negative effects can be found in social media. Secondary data was gathered from
web sources, several research papers, and the Google search engine for this research
report. We also employed some data collection techniques (on-site observations,
interviews, and questionnaires) to learn more about how people use social media in
general. In this paper, we look at a variety of social networking sites, as well as
different areas (such as business and commerce, education, health and medical
education, and so on) where social media is widely used these days, as well as the
positive and negative aspects of it, as well as guidelines for dealing with the negative
effects of social media on society.
(Berson and Berson), 2005
Anxiety over the safety, health, and proper use of social media can be divided into
three categories: concerns about exposure to harmful materials, online victimisation,
and the practise of dangerous online activities. As a result, this research is built on a
hypothetical method in which young people are active agents who can manage,
adjust, create, and distribute ideas and goods through communication innovations.
