The flying V! — Get back into the formation! Ever wonder why migratory birds fly in a "V" formation and not just randomly? Birds know that to complete the long trip of migration they have to fly united. Scientists tell us that flying in formation increases the birds' flight range by 71 percent. Airwaves created each time a bird flaps its wings provide an uplift for the next one in formation, supporting it, decreasing its workload and conserving its energy. A solo bird could never complete the trip, but in formation the youngest, the oldest, and even the weakest get there. In other words, they do collectively what they could never do alone. When Paul said, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another," he was saying, "Stay in formation children! Enjoy the uplift!" You weren't designed to fly solo no matter what your rank, calling, gifting, or maturity level. You're a part of the body of Christ, created to function in concert with all the other parts. "The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I don't need you!' And the head cannot say to the feet, 'I don't need you!'" (1 Cor 12:21 NIV). Occasionally a bird, disoriented or overconfident, goes on autopilot and finds itself adrift. Soon, however, its wings become heavy from exhaustion and it loses altitude. It begins to feel the drag of increasing wind resistance, and it pulls its weakened body back into formation alongside its feathered fellow pilgrims. Paul said, "Let us not give up meeting together". So get back in formation (and fellowship) and stay there!” Christian Service — Tamara I love being a part of the worship team because its an opportunity for me to give back to the Lord and draw closer to him. I've found that serving the Lord has led me to a deeper knowledge of Christs character, his selfless love, compassion and humility. The Bible says “Whatever you do work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23. I believe if we change our mind frame anything we do can become a service to the Lord, no matter how big or small the Lord sees and searches the Heart for those who serve him wholeheartedly. The Lord Jesus came not to be served but to serve, our lives should be the same. Our Queensland Missionaries learn to love Muslims! We both grew in the midst of this religion and culture; it was hard for us to truly love these people as we were persecuted because of them in Egypt. Going to QLD was a challenge for us to see these people as God sees them. We discovered the misconceptions they had about Christianity and their lack of knowledge about Christ. We learned to look and love them the same way our master did. The AFWAN project expanded our understanding of Islam and how we ought to pray and speak to Muslims. It was a great experience please join us next year and ask the lord in prayer saying — “send me”.
