This one s for you God.
21 years ago , when u started playing cricket people said this boy had something. 21 years later, god had everything but a World Cup win. 21 years later people still turn off their TV sets when God gets out. 21 years later he still runs as fast as a 17 year old to stop the ball near the boundary. He still plays that stunning straight drive , and then giving that beautiful follow thru till the ball reaches the boundary. Even Bradman said you play like him..we say perhaps he played like you. 99 centuries and 32000 runs later, we still wish that you get more. Even if you score 1 million runs i guess we would say he could have got 2 million .. we love you god. We really love you. At this point , I won t say i am your fan..God doesn t have fans, GOD has FOLLOWERS.
No matter what happens tomorrow @ Wankhade .. We will respect you even more and more and more every time you cut the ball for 4 or run up to the bowler for your suggestions. People say God doesn t exist in this era, perhaps they haven t seen you bat. The current team consists of 10 players and one SACHIN. There was always one Sachin, be it Sharjah , WC 96 WC 03 or any test match or any other one-day series, God was always performing. I still remember watching you make 200* in that game, perhaps I was blessed to watch it live on TV or your 175 when we lost against Australia, seeing it on Cricinfo and tears going down my eyes, I thought something big was coming and when you got Retired-hurt on 160 something against NZ in that game..I was sure something BIG was coming. It came and the SUPER MAN from INDIA was the first man on the planet to reach 200. The best bowlers in this world get nightmares, when they think about you trashing them all-over the park. McGrath, Akthar, Lee, Caddick, Donald, Warne, Murli, Akram you ve trashed them all... We cannot forget that six against Caddick and also against Akhtar..you danced down the track to Warne at Sharjah...I guess no Indian fan can forget that moment. Tony Greg went bezerk, we couldn t stop praising. I have a faint memory of, you bowling the last over against SA in 1996 and winning it with the ball for us. WOW!! Is just what I can say. Perhaps if i start writing , even a thesaurus will be short of adjectives. I , on behalf of your every fan i know , would like to wish you all the best for tomorrow. WAY TO GO, GOD....CHAK DE INDIA!!!! As they say, pehle Goron ki ,phir haraamkhoron ki, ab baari hai choron ki...DE GHUMAAKE!! Your follower for life
