make a difference for God’s glory right where we are in Charlottesville. We had challenging discussions about why it’s easy to serve soup to a homeless man from behind a table but when faced with a beggar on the subway we are speechless. How can we simply give a dollar when we hold the greatest treasure of Christ’s love and forgiveness? Their physical need is obvious but their spiritual needs are not. We continue to grapple with these realities and I hope that you would take a second to think about this reality in your own lives as well. Thank you for your partnership and prayers that make these trips possible. Pictures on next page.

The purpose and group dynamic would change, and not for the better, if only three went and we wanted the entire group to feel how their decisions effect the other members. Instead of throwing it all out we as a staff team went on our first team bonding trip. It gave us the chance to practice what we preach and deepen our relationships and build community. point it started to rain and all six of us crammed into a threeman tent for three hours. We talked about our interpersonal needs, conflicts with our team and how to serve and love one another better in the future. It is seldom that our focus is taken off our student ministry and placed on our own lives and yet it’s so important to be emotionally healthy ourselves in order to have and run a healthy ministry.
