1 This competition is OPEN to amateurs (ie people who do not derive their MAJOR income from
performance.)
2 Entries in all sections must be in writing on the form provided or on plain paper with similar headings - or a

photocopy of original form - and lodged with the Entry Secretary on or before Friday 27 May 2011. Late
rd
entries will be accepted until Friday 3 June 2011. One additional fee of $10 will be charged for the total
number of late entries per competitor.
3 No entry will be received or recorded unless by the provision of the full entry Fee.
4 No refund will be made for any entry fee paid after the entry has been accepted.
5 Competitors must be ready to take their places on the stage at the appointed time and in order set down in
the program (unless otherwise required under Rule 6). Failing this, they shall be liable to disqualification.
6 The committee reserves the right to amend the program at any time, to appoint a substitute or additional
adjudicator, to divide or couple any sections, to alter competition times or cancel any sections.

7 In all competitions, which are subject to an age limit, the age of the competitor shall be taken as at the 31
December 2011. This committee reserves the right to call upon any competitor at any time to furnish at his
or her expense, certificate of date of birth, or copy thereof, and can withhold any prize until such certificate or
copy has been furnished.
8 ATTENTION: No competitor(s) may compete more than once in any one section, except where a group is
involved (eg Ensembles, Choir, Band etc) then no more than 50% of the players or singers may compete
again in that same section. This exception DOES NOT apply to the DANCE SECTIONS.
9 In all items where two or more are competing the names of each competitor MUST be given at the time of
entry or entry will be deemed invalid except in the case of CHOIRS, GROUPS, and DANCING TEAMS. (A
duo is not a team).
10 NO TEACHER OR PARENT SHALL BE ALLOWED ON THE STAGE AREA WITH A COMPETITOR, other
than a conductor or accompanist. (Special needs sections are excepted).
11 Any protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $5.00 and should be lodged in with a committee member
within 1 hour of the Adjudicators decision being announced. Full details of the protest must be set out in
writing. Should the protest not be upheld, the deposit will be forfeited.
Verbal grievances/complaints to individual committee members / volunteers are not in the spirit of
Eisteddfod competition. They will not be tolerated and could lead to exclusion from any further
participation in the Eisteddfod.
12 Decision of the adjudicator is final, unless a protest is duly lodged under Rule 11 in which the decision of the
Committee shall be accepted as FINAL.
13 The Committee reserves the right to withhold any prize money if they consider the circumstances sufficient.
The committee shall enquire into the circumstances within 24 hrs - their decision shall be FINAL.
14 Prompting except by the adjudicator will not be permitted under any circumstances (except in Special needs
sections - where necessary).
15 Competitors must not be, or have been pupils of the Adjudicator during the last six- (6) months prior to the
Eisteddfod.
16 Competitors must not appear on stage wearing medals or decorations.
17 NO REHEARSALS are allowed on stages of any venues (or performing areas).
18 A report sheet from the Adjudicator will be available free of charge for all competitors, groups etc.
19 If any competitor, teacher or parent approaches the Adjudicator before or during a section, the competitor
may be disqualified. The committee reserves the right to cancel any section or combine any sections.
20 Subject to Rule 4 - where prize money is in excess of $25, the committee reserves the right to vary the 1st
prize money, if there are less than five (5) competitors.
21 In all sections competitors must hand one (1) copy of the selected music, music and words, as the case may
be, to the Green Room person - at least 20 minutes BEFORE THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE SECTION.
The committee accepts no responsibility for the loss, or damage to any original works. Music should be
printed and in the case of handwritten work it must be legible. (See Rule 42).
22 All music submitted must be clearly marked with SECTION NUMBER, AND COMPETITOR’S NUMBER -
NO NAME OR SCHOOL SHOULD BE VISIBLE.
23 An official accompanist can be provided for vocal/instrumental sections and competitors should state on
entry form if an accompanist is required. At least (2) weeks before the commencement of the Eisteddfod all
music to be used by an official accompanist MUST BE IN THE HANDS OF THE ACCOMPANIST. You may
provide your own accompanist. You must contact the accompanist yourself; any rehearsals will be at the

competitors cost. Accompanists are listed on page 1. OFFICIAL ACCOMPANYING COST FOR ALL OPEN
SECTIONS, Scholarships & Championships is $10 per section regardless of age.
24 Entrants are responsible for royalty and copyright payments and liabilities, if any.
25 The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.
26 Competitors must comply strictly with the TIME LIMITS: - Competitors will not be adjudicated after the
specific times limit has elapsed. At the commencement of the music, song, piece etc the timekeeper will set
the timer to the appropriate time allowed for the section. This is for actual playing or singing time. Upon the
time being reached, a bell will be rung - adjudication will cease. A second bell may be rung, if needed. The
competitor will be asked to cease performing. Overtime competitors may not be awarded a prize and a
comment about the overtime will be noted on the comment sheet.
PLEASE KEEP TO THE TIME LIMITS THAT ARE ALLOCATED.
27 No person may take another person’s place in the program.
28 Competitors equipment must be brought in the theatre through the door provided ½ an hour before each
session. All equipment must be removed from stage and venue at the conclusion of each session.
29 All care has been taken in the compilation of the syllabus and the committee reserves the right to rectify any
errors or omissions that appear in prize money etc.
30 RESTRICTED means not having won a 1ST PRIZE in any solo instrumental or vocal section at any previous
Eisteddfod. Restricted Rule applies up to the date of CLOSE OF ENTRIES OF THE EISTEDDFOD.
31 Competitors as nominated by the committee will be invited to perform at the Concert.
32 Presentation of prizes will be as follows wherever possible, Major prizes - on stage following adjudication or
at concert. Following adjudication minor prizes to be collected from the Upstairs Office. The onus is on the
competitor to collect all prizes, medals, reports, certificates, money, music and tapes etc.
33 Winners of Aria Section and all scholarship winners SHOULD be available to perform at the concert if
required, or prize money may be withheld.
34 COMPETITORS enter at THEIR OWN RISK.
35 No competitor may render the same item in more than one (1) section, except in scholarship sections.
36 Notification of appearance is not given by mail unless a program is ordered on entering.
37 The committee invests in the Adjudicator the power to withhold or alter any prize where he or she is of the
opinion that sufficient merit has NOT been displayed.
38 An Instrumental Duet is when two (2) instruments are played together using music specifically written for a
“duet” - Not a solo instrument with accompaniment.
39 Scholarship & Aria Winners are ineligible to ENTER THESE SECTIONS AGAIN UNTIL 3 YEARS HAVE
ELAPSED.
A junior scholarship winner may enter for a senior scholarship in the following year.
40 Scholarship winners may enter again after 3 years has elapsed.

41 There will be no awarding of equal 1 , 2 and 3 places. The committee reserves the right to withhold any
prize money if they consider the circumstances sufficient.
42 COPYRIGHT RULE
Vocal/Instrumental only – The competitor may hand in a music photocopy for the adjudicator
provided:
a) Form No. 2 is attached to EACH photocopy (ie (Adjudication Copy for use at Eisteddfods)
b) Form No. 1 must be completed by each individual performer OR the teacher may sign on behalf of
several students entered on the same entry form. – sent in with entry form.
c) The original to be used by the competitor. All photocopies will be destroyed in the Green Room.

43 The committee reserves the right to record, broadcast, telecast or videotape for TV purposes any items from
the Eisteddfod program.
44 THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE MADE TO THE PRINTED PROGRAM. If your AMEB music examination
is scheduled on your performance day and time, then please notify a committee member 7 days
before your programmed time. You are then required to produce your appointment schedule letter to
the committee member. Two or more committee members will decide if you can be allocated a
different spot. You can then be adjudicated but not given a place in the scoring list. This rule will be
strictly adhered to. You are then eligible to enter a Scholarship Section.
45 No inflammable substances to be used on stage e.g. straw.
46. ALL BARS IN MUSIC GIVEN TO THE ADJUDICATOR MUST BE NUMBERED.
