Activities between BIIT and IIUM

Dr. Roosfa of IIUM Press Visited BIIT Office, Dhaka


Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) organized a workshop on Quality Writing and
Scholarly Publication on 8th - 9th March, 2019
at the Conference Hall in collaboration with the
IIUM (International Islamic University
Malaysia) Press. Dr. Roosfa Bin Hashim, the
Director of IIUM (International Islamic
University Malaysia) Press was the resource
person in the workshop.
Dr. Roosfa described the essential techniques for a quality writing and especially emphasized on
the following topic i.e. Reasons for Writing a Textbook, Professional & Personal Prerequisites,
Negotiation a favorable contact, Writing and
revising a textbook, Writing with co- authors,
Textbook writing as teaching: translating
classroom teaching into textbook pedagogy,
How to deal with publishers, Alternatives to
traditional publishing and Survival skills for
textbook authors. In the workshop more than
thirty five (35) young researches and faculties of different private and public universities was
participated. Dr. Maimul Ahsan Khan, Professor of Dhaka University and Dr. A. K. M. Nurul
Amin, Professor of Military Institute of Science
and Technology (MIST) & former executive
editor of the IIUM Engineering Journal were also
present in the workshop as an honorary guest.
After successful completing the workshop the
participants received a certificate of
Participation. Dr. M. Abdul Aziz, the executive
director of BIIT presided over the workshop.

Dr. M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT
delivered a brief PowerPoint presentation
regarding aims, objectives and activities of
BIIT. Dr. Ataul Huq Pranik, Senior Academic
Fellow of BIIT & former professor of IIUM
was present in the ceremony as a special guest.

IIUM-BIIT Delegates Met with Nobel Laureate Dr. Yunus


The Yunus Centre organized a views exchange
meeting with Noble Laureate Dr. Yunus at their
own office in honor of Malaysian Delegates in the
noon on February 20, 2019. All the members of the
Malaysian delegates i.e. Prof. Dr. Hassanudden B.
Aziz, the Dean of the Kullyyah of Economics and
Management Sciences, International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Dr. Mustafa Omar,
Head of Economics Department, IIUM, Mohamed Rafe, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
CIMB Islamic Malaysia and Mr. Ken Mohamed Faiz Kamal, Head, Group Marketing &
Communication and Corporate Responsibility

Noble Laureate Dr Yunus mentioned the
concept, impact and involvement of social
business for the economic development all
over the world. At the end of the meeting
Dr. M. Abul Aziz handed over a token of
appreciation to the noble laureate.

The Noble Gallery, Archives and Grameen Check Showroom are visited by the Malaysian

The Malaysian delegates met with Mr. Babul Saha, the Managing Director & CEO of Grameen
Bank at Grameen Head Office, Mirpur- 2, Dhaka in the noon at February 20, 2019. The

IIUM Delegates Visited Microcredit Project of Grameen Bank


The Malaysian delegates visited the microcredit project of Grameen Bank in the Joypura Village
under Dhamrai Upazila in the morning on February 20, 2019. The delegates met with the client
members of the microcredit project and
exchange their views. The delegates also
observed the entire activities of microcredit
program in the center regarding distribution of
Loan, loan return system and loan investment
policy of the clients and the effect of loan in their socio-economic development.

IIUM Delegates Met with MD/CEO of IBBL


The Malaysian delegates met in an Exchange of views program with Mr. M. Mahbub ul Alam,
Managing Director & CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) in the Board Room of
the Bank at 4.30 pm on February 19, 2019. The
delegates included Prof. Dr. Hassanudden B.
Aziz, the Dean of the Kullyyah of Economics
and Management Sciences, International Islamic
University of Malaysiaq (IIUM), Dr. Mustafa
Omar, Head of Economics Department, IIUM, and Mr. Ken Mohamed Faiz Kamal, Head, Group
Marketing &Communication and Corporate
Responsibility CIMB Islamic Mr. M. Abdul
Jabbar, Senior Executive Vice President and
head of the Wing, Mr. M. Obaidul Haque,
Senior Executive Vice President and head of
the RDS project, Mr. AFM Anisur Rahman,

present in the meeting. The CEO of IBBL described the aims, objectives and challenges of the
RDS project and Malaysian Delegates also expressed their sincere thanks to the authority of the
Bank and shared Malaysian experience regarding micro-credit project.

exchange meeting with the RDS clients
members was held in the center. Mr. AFM
Anisur Rahman, vice president of IBBL and
Mr. Abul Laise Mohammed Khaled, vice
president and Manager of Savar Branch were
also present in the meeting.

organized a Seminar on ‘Inclusive Development
from South Asian Economic Perspective’ on
January 5, 2018 in its Conference Hall at
Uttara. Prof. Ataul Huq Pramanik, retired
Professor of the Department of Economics of
International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Senior Academic Fellow of BIIT was
the keynote speaker in the seminar. Prof. Dr.
Abulhasan M. Sadeq, Vice Chancellor of
Asian University of Bangladesh and Prof. Dr.
Latif Masum, Professor of Government &
Politics, Jahangirnagar University and former
Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and
Technology University were delivered their speech as panelists in the seminar. Dr. M. Abdul
Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT chaired the meeting.

Public Talk titled “Islamicity of Grameen Bank Vis a Vis Islamic Banks”
Public Talk titled ‘Islamicity of Grameen Bank Vis a Vis Islamic Banks’ was held on 26 August
2012 at the Conference Hall of BIIT, Dhaka. Dr.
Ataul Huq Pramanik, Professor, Department of

Malaysia (IIUM) was present as a Key- note Speaker
in the talk. Mr. M. Azizul Huq, President of BIIT
was act as a Moderator and thirty five (35) teachers
and students were present in the program.

Prof. Ataul Huq’s Corner was introduced at the Library and Resource center of BIIT
(Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought) on January 05, 2018. In the corner Prof. Huq donated
one hundred nineteen world famous books on
Economic and other discipline and twenty
three peer reviewed international journal. Prof.
Ataul Huq Pramanik is the current professor of
International Islamic University of Malaysia
(IIUM) at the department of Economics and
Senior Academic fellow of BIIT. He has a
significant writings and contribution in the field of Economic as well as Islamic Economic.
BIIT Donated Books to the Resource Centre of Kulliyyah of Education at IIUM
Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) donated a number of books and journals to the
Resource Centre of Kulliyyah of Education, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) on
30 September 2015.
The Resource Centre (RC) arranged a warm
reception for the delegation of BIIT. On that
occasion, Dr. Ridwan Abdullah, Director of RC,
conveyed his special thanks to BIIT for the
initiative and the intellectual movement through
the research. He also expressed the willingness to work in collaboration with BIIT. On the
occasion, Mr. M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT, made an overview of BIIT with
special reference to its mission and vision and appreciated the eagerness of RC to work with
BIIT while Mr. Tofazzel Hossain, PhD Student & Cordinator of BIIT-IIUM Chapter and Ms.
Momotahena, PhD Student of IIUM were also present.

BIIT Lectured on “Islam in Bangladesh” at IIUM


The International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) chapter of Bangladesh Institute of
Islamic Thought (BIIT) organized a lecture in collaboration with International Institute of
Islamic Thought (IIIT) East and South East Asia
chapter on ‘Islam in Bangladesh: A Historical
Analysis’ at Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Centre
of International Islamic University of Malaysia
(IIUM) on July 17, 2017. Prof. Dr. KM Mohsin,
vice-chancellor of Dhaka International University and editor of Bangladesh Journal of Islamic
Thought (BJIT), was the keynote speaker at
the seminar. Prof. Dr. Abdullah al-Ahsan of
the Department of History and Civilization of
IIUM delivered a speech as guest speaker. To
analyse the history and background of Bengali
Muslims was the main outcome at the
seminar. Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Wira Dr. Jamil Osman, regional representative of International
Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) East and South-East Asia chapter presided over the program.

BIIT Organized a Seminar on “Islam and Science” at IIUM


Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) organized a seminar on “Islam and Science” at
ADM LT 1, IIUM Gombak campus at 5.00 pm on
March 15, 2015.
The program started with the recitation from the holy
Qur’an. Mr. M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director,
BIIT delivered welcome remarks. Professor Dr. M.
Shamsher Ali, the immediate past President of the
Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, Founder Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University &
Southeast University and the founding Chairman of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought
(BIIT) was present as the keynote speaker in the program while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammad
Tariqur Rahman, Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM
delivered his speech as a panelist. Prof. Dr.
Abdul Rashid Moten, Department of Political
Science, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed
Knowledge and Human Sciences, IIUM
moderated the whole session.
The lectures were followed by Question & Answer Session where the participants were
enthusiastically involved in investigating different issues relating to Islam and science. Mostly
Bangladeshi PhD researchers, teachers, students of IIUM and other universities at Malaysia
participated in the program. They strongly requested the organizer to conduct this type of
program frequently.

BIIT Organized a Seminar on “Islam, Media and Culture” at IIUM


A Seminar on “Islam, Media and Culture” was held at the main campus of International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) on 15 April 2015. Mr. Abdul Hai Sikder, a poet, columnist and
Journalist was present as the keynote speaker while M Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT
delivered his introductory speech.
BIIT Organized a Seminar on “Islam and Science” at IIUM
A seminar on ‘Islam and Science’ was held at the Meeting Room of International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia on 10 November 2015. It was organized by the IIUM
Chapter of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought
(BIIT). Mr. Mir Lutful Kabir Saadi, presided over
the meeting while Prof. Dr. Al Ahsan, Department of
History as chief discussant. M Abdul Aziz,
Executive Director of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic
Thought (BIIT) moderated and guided for the whole
discussion. Bangladeshi teachers were present in the meeting and shared their views on Islam
and science. Mr. Abdul Aziz thanked all the participa nts for their valuable contribution in the
discussion meeting.

BIIT Workshop on “Philosophical Inquiry” at IIUM


A Workshop on Philosophical Inquiry was held on October 2, 2015 at 3.00 pm. The workshop
jointly organized by Bangladesh Institute of Islamic
Thought (BIIT) and Kulliyyah of Education
Postgraduate Students Association (KEPSA), IIUM.
The workshop was conducted by the renowned
educationist Prof. Dr. Yusuf M. Islam, Vice-Chancellor
of Daffodil International University, Professor of the
Department of Software Engineering, DIU, Adjunct Professor of Open University Malaysia
(OUM). About 30 university lecturers and postgraduate students attended the workshop.

BIIT Intellectual Discourse on


“The Crisis of Contemporary Civilization and the Way out” at IIUM
Apart from maintaining a Series of Intellectual Discourse, Dr. AbdulHamid Ahmad
AbuSulayman, Emeritus Professor & Former Rector of IIUM lectured on ‘the Crisis of
Contemporary Civilization and the Way Out’ in its very first kind at IIUM on 29th March 2014.
Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) organized the program in collaboration with
IIIT-East Asia & International Institute for Muslim Unity (IIMU), IIUM.
This Intellectual Discourse was solely and exclusively for the Bangladeshi students, teachers and
other professionals living in Malaysia. Among others, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashid Moten and Prof.
Dr. Ataul Huq Paramanik were present in the program. Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Executive
Director of BIIT gave the vote of thanks and Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan moderated the session.
This program drew a very good attention among the Bangladeshi scholars.

BIIT Intellectual Discourse on


“An Islamic Perspective on the Nature of Man in Western Secular Humanism” at IIUM
Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) in collaboration with The International Institute
for Muslim Unity (IIMU), IIUM organized the Intellectual Discourse Series-II, 2014 titled “An
Islamic Perspective on the Nature of Man in Western Secular Humanism” on 19 September 2014
(Friday) at ADM LT 2, IIUM. BIIT Intellectual Discourse is a series of lectures (followed by Q
& A Session) on various topics related to Islam and
contemporary issues.
The lecture of the Intellectual Discourse Series-II
was delivered y the most prominent scholar Prof. Dr.
Malik Badri of IIUM. Dato' Wira Dr. Jamil Osman,
Regional Representative, International Institute of Islamic Thought- East Asia presided over the
program. Mr. M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director, BIIT delivered the welcoming remarks. About
50 persons (mainly Bangladeshi PhD researchers in
IIUM and teachers) participated in the program. In
the lecture, the keynote speaker emphasized the
understanding of the worldview (the way one sees
the world). Besides, the image of the nature of a man
and the whole environment should be looked at with that conception. The worldview is like
colored glasses by which you see the whole world according to the hue of the glasses but the
frame of the glass is the human nature.

“Islamization of English Literary Studies: An Introduction” at BIIT, Dhaka
A seminar on ‘Islamization of English Literary Studies: An Introduction’ was held on 1
September 2012 at 5.00 pm – 6.30 pm at the
Conference Hall of BIIT, Dhaka. Dr. Md.
Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department
of English, International Islamic University
Malaysia (IIUM) was present as a Key-note Speaker
in the program. Prof. Dr. Ataul Hoque, Chairman,
Department of English, Bangladesh Islami University was also present and acted as a Moderator.

Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan of IIUM Presented a Paper in a Seminar on


“Feminis m as Islamophobia”at BIIT, Dhaka
A seminar on 'Feminism as Islamophobia' was held
at the Conference Hall of BIIT on 23 August 2011.
Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan of Department of English
Language and Literature, International Islamic
University Malaysia presented the key-note paper.
About 70 (seventy) distinguished academics were present in the seminar.

A lecture program on 'Towards Understanding Islamic
English' was held at Conference Hall of BIIT on 22 May
2011. Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan of the Department of
English Language and Literature, International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) delivered the lecture.
Selected English teachers of different universities in Dhaka were present in the program.

BIIT Executive Director Visited Malaysia


Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of
Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT)
participated in the International Conference on ‘Islam
and Higher Education’ held at International Institute of
Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS), Kualampur, Malaysia on 8th - 9th November, 2010.
Prof Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan of IIUM Visited BIIT in Bangladesh
A seminar entitled ‘An Introduction to Qur’anic Studies and Hadith Studies ’ was held at
Bangladesh Institute of Administration and
Management (BIAM), Dhaka on 22 February
2010. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan, Professor,
Department of Quran and Sunnah Studies,
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM),
was the Key- note speaker. Dr. Md. Lutfur Rahman, Vice President of BIIT presided over the
seminar, while M Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT acted as the moderator. Maulana
Kamal Uddinn Zafri, a renowned Islamic scholar of the county and founder General Secretary of
Bangladesh Islamic University, was also present as a Special Guest. More than 40 teachers of
different public and private universities were present in the seminar.

Datuk’ Hamidun Abdul Hamid of IIUM Visited BIIT Office in Dhaka


Datuk’ Hamidun Abdul Hamid, Deputy Rector, International Islamic University Malaysia
(IIUM) along with his two colleagues Dr. Nor
Faridah Abdul Manaf, Associate Professor of
English and Director of Alumni and Career
Service Division, IIUM and Mr. Noor Azilee bin
Abdul Aziz, Assistant Director, Alumni and
Career Service Division recently visited
Bangladesh to launch its IIUM Alumni, Bangladesh Chapter. During this time he along with his
colleagues visited BIIT office on 22 March, 2009 and met BIIT Executives and officials. The
IIUM team was cordially received by the officials of BIIT. After welcome address and
introduction of BIIT, a discussion took place between IIUM & BIIT teams headed by respected
Datuk Hamidun Abdul Hamid, Deputy rector of IIUM and Prof. Dr. NRM Borhan Uddin, Vice
President of BIIT respectively.
Both the parties agreed to work on mutual cooperation in near future in the field of research,
training and professional development. It was also opined that a Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) may be signed between IIUM and BIIT in this regard. Prof. Dr. NRM Borhan Uddin on
behalf of BIIT thanked the guests for their visit to BIIT and expressed keen interest to maintain
this cordial relation.

Prof. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan of IIUM met with BIIT officials
An Exchange of views program between Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan, Associate Professor of
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Heads of Islamic disciplines was held at
the Conference Hall of BIIT, Dhaka on 1 March
2009. The Chairman of Islamic studies and Arabic
disciplines of public and private universities of
Dhaka were present at the meeting. Discussion
and exchange of views mainly focused on some
issues of Qur’an and hadith related to higher studies as well as misgivings at home and abroad.
The program was presided over by Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan, Chairman of the BIIT Trust.

Prof. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan of IIUM Presented a Paper in a Seminar on


“Reforming the Qur'anic & Sunnatic Science” at BIIT, Dhaka
A day- long Seminar on 'Reforming the Curriculum with Special Reference to Qur’anic &
Sunnatic Science' was held at BIAM, Dhaka on 27 February 2009. The seminar had four
sessions. In these sessions Dr. Israr Ahmad
Khan presented 5 papers on: 1) Arguments
for Abrogation in the Qur’an: A Critique; 2)
The Role of Sound Reasoning in Hadith:
Text Examination; 3) The Qur’an as a
Criterion for Hadith Text Examination; 4)
Towards Understanding Islamic Paradigm of
Education and 5) The Curriculum of Qur’an & Hadith Studies at IIUM.
Mr. Md. Sirajul Islam (Rtd. Judge), Vice-Chairman, BIIT chaired the first session. After
Maulana Obaidullah’s recitation from the Holy Qur’an, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive
Director of BIIT gave an introductory speech on the day- long program and requested all to
participate in all the sessions actively.
In this session, Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan also highlighted the different aspects of curriculum of
Qur’an and hadith studies at International Islamic University Malaysia and requested the
audience to adjust it in the curriculum of their own universities if possible.
At the end of the session, Dr. Md. Lutfur Rahman, Executive Director, BIIT offered his vote of
thanks to all and declared the seminar closed.

Prof. Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan of IIUM attended a workshop on


“Reforming the Qur’an and Sunnah” at Islamic University Kustia
A day- long workshop on ‘Epistemology and Curriculum Reform with Special Reference to the
Qur’an and Sunnah Studies’ was held at Islamic University Kustia on 28 February 2009. It was
organized by the Islami University Kustia Chapter of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought

Workshop had four sessions.
All the sessions were presided over by Prof. Dr.
Abdur Rahman Anwary, Convenor of the
Islamic University, Kustia Chapter of BIIT. Dr.
Nasiruddin Mizi was the moderator of all the
working sessions. In session one, the Chief
Guest was Prof. Dr. Anwarul Karim, Vice Chancellor- in-charge of Islamic University, Kustia. In
this session, after recitation from the Holy Qur’an, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Deputy Executive
Director, BIIT delivered an introductory speech to welcome all and gave an overview of the
programs of workshop. Then Dr. Israr Ahmad Khan presented 5 papers: 1. Coherence in the
Qur’an, 2. Hadith on Predestination: An Evaluation and Interpretation, 3.The Qu’ran as a
Criterion for Hadith Text Examination, 4. Arguments for Abrogation in the Qur’an: A Critique
and 5. Curriculum on Qur’an & Hadith Studies of International Islamic University Malaysia
(IIUM).
Presentations were also made by academics from the Departments of Al-Qur’an & Islamic
Studies, Al- Hadith & Islamic Studies, Dawah & Islamic Studies, Al-Fiqh, Arabic Language &
Literature and Islamic Jurisprudence of Islamic University, Kustia. Participants actively took
part in the discussion. The Chief Guest delivered a valuable and thought-provoking speech in the
workshop.

Islamization and Mr. Mustafa Omar Mohammed presented his presentation on Islamic Banking
and Finance: An Overview of the Malaysian Experience. After each presentation, the
participants took part in the question-answer sessions and made their comments. Prof. Dr. Aslam
Haneef and Mustafa Omar Mohammed responded to these questions.

BIIT Vice President (Research) attended to an International Co nference at IIUM


Professor Dr. Abdur Rahman Anwari, Vice President (Research), BIIT participated in the two
days long “2nd International Conference on
Contemporary Scholarship on Islam: The Legacy of
Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi” held at Senate Hall,
International University of Malaysia, (IIUM) on 22-23
October. Dr. Anwari presented a paper on “The Role
of Dr. Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi in the methodology of
comparative religion in the Quran”.

IIUM Delegates Visit BIIT Office in Dhaka


A group of Professors of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) headed by Dr.
Hassanuddin Abd Aziz, Dean, Centre for Post Graduate Studies, IIUM visited BIIT on 29
February 2012. They expressed their satisfaction on BIIT activities and showed their keen

IIIT-BD Scholars Held a Study Circle on “Crisis in the Muslim Mind”


The International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) chapter of Bangladesh Institute of
Islamic Thought (BIIT) organized a study circle
with the Bangladeshi students who are studying
graduate, postgraduate and post-doctoral research
at International Islamic University of Malaysia
and who are also benefited by the scholarship of
International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).
Different types of valuable books for Muslim Ummah are discussed in the study class. ‘Crisis in
the Muslim Mind’, the famous book of eminent scholar Prof Dr Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman,
former rector of IIUM, was selected to discuss during the session. Dr M Abdul Aziz, executive
director of BIIT, was the moderator in the study circle.

BIIT Held an Exchange of Views with IIUM Graduates in Bangladesh


An exchange of views program with graduates of International Islamic University Malaysia
(IIUM) was held in the seminar auditorium of
Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) on
April 5, 2018. Near about twenty (20) graduates,
research scholars and Ph D holder were present in
the event. Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan, founding
chairman of BIIT trust and former secretary of the
Bangladesh Government was the chief guest and delivered his motivational speech. Dr. M.

Public lecture on ‘Contemporary Issues in Islamic Banking’ held at IIUM


Department of Finance, International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) organized ‘a public
lecture’ at presentation lab B (PLD), KENMS on
Friday, October 05,2012 at 10.00 am where Mr. M.
Azizul Huq, the President of Bangladesh Institute of
Islamic Thought (BIIT) and Founder Chief Executive,
Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. spoke on ‘The
Contemporary Issues in Islamic Banking: Perspectives from OIC Countries’. Dr. Abideen
Adeyemi Adewale, Assistant professor of the

Economics, IIUM chaired the session and gave a
welcoming remark introducing Mr. M. Azizul

BIIT President visited IIUM Library
The President of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) and a prominent Islamic
banking consultant Mr. M Azizul Huq paid a visit to IIUM library at 3 pm on Tuesday, July 03,
2012. He was accompanied the workshop (WCDTB
2012) participants of 23 academicians comprising 8
professors, 3 associate professors, 7 assistant professors
and 5 lecturers from 4 major public universities and 7
top ranked private universities of Bangladesh. A library
staff was assigned to guide the delegates about the various facilities available in the library.
Delegates prepared a list of reference materials needed to write the textbooks from the library
and Mr. Huq expressed his satisfaction noting the facilities in the library.

“50 year’s experiences in Dawah activities” at WAMY, IIUM
Muhammad Abdul Aziz, the Executive Director of BIIT attended a lecture delivered by
renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Ahmad Totonji, Vice
President of Administration, IIIT organized by
World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), IIUM
at 3 pm on Friday, December 07, 2012 in the
WAMY conference hall. In this lecture, Dr. Totonji
discussed on his 50 year’s experiences in Dawah
activities. Various challenges and prospect of Islamic activism were originated in his lecture.

Bangladeshi Researchers of IIUM Met with BIIT President


Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT)
organized a meeting of its President with the
Bangladeshi researchers at International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) at HS seminar room
(level 3 of HS building, IIUM) on October 06,
2012. Mr. M Abdul Aziz, the Executive Director of BIIT moderated the session while Mr. M.
Azizul Huq, the President of BIIT exchanged of views with the researchers. Around 20
researchers and potential future scholars were invited in the meeting.

BIIT Delegates Visited GSM, IIUM


The President of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) and a prominent Islamic
banking consultant Mr. M Azizul Huq paid a visit to IIUM Graduate School of Management
(IIUMGSM) on 03 July 2012. He was
accompanied by Mr. M Abdul Aziz, the
Executive Director of BIIT. The 23 workshop
(WCDTB 2012) participants comprise 8
professors, 3 associate professors, 7 assistant
professors and lecturers from 4 major public
universities and 7 top ranked private universities
of Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Ahad M. Osman-Gani, the Director of IIUMGSM, received the
delegation in his office where he briefed the guests abo ut three executive programs, namely the
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the
Master of Management and in- house training and consultancy services to Malaysian and
international corporations of IIUM GSM. Moreover, how IIUM GSM are preparing business
leaders imbued with Islamic ethical values was discussed. Finally, admission process was
described in details. IIUM GSM provided memento to every participant.

“Islamic Banking Product Development”
A six-day training course on ‘Islamic Banking
Product Development’ was held during 10-15
November 2012 at IBTRA, Dhaka. The program
was organized jointly by Bangladesh Institute of
Islamic Thought (BIIT) and IIUM Institute of
Islamic Banking & Finance (IIiBF), Malaysia .
Forty eight mid level executives from thirteen
different banks and five financial institutions participated in the training program.

Memorandum of Unde rstanding (MoU) Signed with IIUM

In recognition of their shared vision for the


Islamization of Knowledge, Bangladesh Institute
of Islamic Thought (BIIT) signed Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with International Islamic
University Malaysia (IIUM) on 3rd July 2012 to
promote cooperation, coordination, and alignment.
BIIT was represented by its President Mr. M
Azizul Huq, while IIUM Rector Prof. Dato’ Sri
Zaleha Kamaruddin signed on behalf of the
University. Through this MoU, BIIT and IIUM
recognize the opportunities that exist to work
more closely together to promote, support, and
contribute to the realization of mutual interests.
