Advent 2007 December 2

Week 1 of 4

The word Advent means: Coming The Celebration of the Advent season is when we look forward with anticipation to Christmas day and the celebration the birth of Jesus. Advent is 4 weeks long. We have 4 candles, one for each week and the central candle that is normally lit on Christmas day. Each week we will read from the bible Then light the candles and sing a verse from the song “Oh Come Oh Come Emanuel”

To remind us that We have come out of darkness and into the marvelous light of Christ's love. And God will continue to give us more grace and joy even beyond the end of time
As the scripture says in Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; they who dwell in the land of the shadow of death, on them the light has shined. Also in 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. What a wonderful hope we sing about.

The people of Judah and of Jerusalem will be rescued and will live in safety. The city will be called 'The LORD Our Salvation.' I, the LORD, promise that there will always be a descendant of David to be king of Israel Also in Matthew 25:34 Then the King will say to the people on his right, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Week 4 of 4

The Celebration of the Advent season is when we look forward with anticipation to Christmas day and the celebration the birth of Jesus. This Fourth week the Advent season we will light four candles Then read from the bible and while we sing “Oh Come Oh Come Emanuel” We will light the fifth candle To remind us of Who Jesus is. As the scripture says in Isaiah 9 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be on His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Also in Luke 2 And lo, the angel of the Lord came on them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them. And they were grievously afraid. And the angel said to them, Do not fear. For behold, I give to you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For to you is born today, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this is a sign to you. You will find the babe wrapped, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
What a wonderful hope we sing about.
