Welcome to the Mercantile Exchange

The Mercantile Exchange (MX) is an emerging mixed-use district in Downtown

St. Louis, nestled in the City’s surging Central Business District, between America’s Center (Convention Center) and the Edward Jones Dome, the Washington Avenue Loft District, the Gateway Mall and the iconic Gateway Arch Grounds. The key to MX’s success is its location at the nexus of St. Louis’ business, convention, tourism and entertainment centers. This dense mix of quality uses already attracts some fifteen million visitors a year to the Mercantile Exchange neighborhood. The MX is the central link between them all, weaving these existing attractions into the region’s most dynamic place to work, live and visit.

Unparalleled Opportunity

Downtown St. Louis has seen an investment of more than $6 billion in the last

ten years. This includes new high-end entertainment, professional sports, casinos, a convention center and hotel destinations. There has been an influx of 3,000 new housing units, and the number of downtown residents has increased by 15% in the last two years. Public and private organizations have spent significant capital to create and enhance beautiful public spaces such the Gateway Arch Grounds and Citygarden. In the heart of this revitalization is the exciting Mercantile Exchange redevelopment. MX is a dynamic nine city blocks with a mix of office, residential, retail, food, entertainment, hotel, and entertainment uses. Construction is underway on the 212-room Embassy Suites and 205-room Apartments, both built on a full city block fronting Washington Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets, and opening in fall 2011.
