Jaw Crusher

Run the jaw crusher with no load. EQUIPMENT :Jaw crusher. MATERIAL :Coal or gravel ( Sample size may be +4/ -2 mesh) THEORY :The energy required for size reduction is given by dE/dD = C. 2 Jaw Crusher . energy meter. P = Power required for crushing in KW m = Tones of feed in one hour of grinding time(Feed rate in tons/hour) Dsa & Dsb= Diameters of sieves through which 80% of the feed & product pass respectively in mm. standard sieves. 1. 1. Kick’s law : P 1 1 E2 – E1 = ΔE = P = Kk ln[ Dsa/Dsb ]……. dE= Energy required to effect a change dD in the size of unit mass of material n = Exponent. stop watch. Rittinger’s law : − ……. Determine the time required to complete one revolution of energy meter disc(or the time required to consume 1 unit of electrical energy). Bond’s law : P W i = m 10 1 Dsb − 1 ……(3) Dsa Where.. weight balance. C = constant. Rittinger’s law constant 2. Bond’s law constant 3. KR = Rittinger’s constant Dsa & Dsb = Volume surface mean diameter m = Mass feed rate for crushing ΔE = Total energy required for crushing 2.Dn Where. container disc etc.(1) E2 – E1 = ΔE = = KR m Dsa Dsb Where. To find out the.Chemical Engineering Department AIM :.(2) m Dsa/Dsb = Size reduction ratio Kk = Kick’s law constant 3. for energy calculation. Wi = Work index in KWh/tones {or KW/(tons/hr)} PROCEDURE :1. Kick’s law constant & to plot size distribution of the material crushed.

Time required for one revolution of energy meter disc. Also note down the total time of crushing. OBSERVATION :1. Do the sieve analysis of the crushed material. Feed 1000 gm of coal or gravel slowly into the crusher (sample of size may be +4 to -2 mesh) & note down the power consumption under crushing condition of jaw crusher. with the help of stop watch. RESULT:1. Kick’s law constant KK = INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION :It is used in industry to crush big lumps into coarse particles.
